  1. hmmm. What he said ^^^^
  2. thanks dave you're always helpful. might have a look under the dash tomorrow as a previous zed wouldnt start due a broken earth on the alarm, I may have disturbed something?
  3. great work rich. better than mine :)
  4. thanks guys. and there was me hoping I had some serious replies  anyone got any ideas? before the NA diff finds its way onto my TT?
  5. Spent a couple of hours on the Z today finishing bits off and checking for this problem. Theres definately no spark. I cant smell fuel in the engine bay now so may be low of juice but that doesnt change the fact there is no spark. I have checked and cleaned the connectors on the PTU, CAS, TPS, coolant sensor. Tried the PTU off my TT. No joy. Carried out an ECU Diagnostic check - code 55 - no malfunctions. I did think I found the issue, the main earth was loose to the gearbox and not attached at all to the engine. So made these two connections good but still nothing. Removed the fuel pump fuse and cranked for 10 seconds to deflood, but still wouldnt start after. Can anyone else think of anything to try?
  6. just thought I'd update this thread in case anyone is searching for answers. Checked resistance on all the injectors and one was much higher than the rest... changed injector, job done :)
  7. ewww not a 280 :nono:
  8. Hmmm thats a good point, its got a Toad alarm/immobiliser same as my other Z, I've not had the car running but it was running until a hole appeared in the block lol  Thinking of it, alarm systems usually immobilise the starter circuit only, or starter and fuel pump circuit. I've got both of them so probably not that :)
  9. Well it fits, and doesn't leak lol... you may have seen my other thread saying that my car doesnt start yet lol... just looked at the invoice but theres no oil filter ref. # on, but their part number is 120NI0070 £2.30 + vat HTH :)
  10. Ahhh I thought you may have said that, pretty sure its a national company with branches all over the shop. GSF - German, Swedish & French I think your local one is at TS4 2LW :) Trade prices to everyone... I bought 5 litres of engine oil, 4.5 litres of 75W90 gearbox oil and an oil filter for £40 and a few pennies inc vat which is very cheap :)
  11. Well done for going over and sorting things out mark, hope chris gets back on track soon. Think everything came at once, I saw on facebook his Z engine blew up last month too.
  12. Welcome along Ozzie. Good luck in your hunt for a Z :)
  13. Fix her up (nearly there) MOT, then the way finances are going at the mo - shorter hours at work due to quiet periods and a little 'un - it'll probably go straight up for sale when ready. But.. I do want something else to sit on the driveway in its place, something old and retro. Theres been some 260z's going cheap recently and I'd love a V8 project one :)
  14. Happy birthday Stuart. You should get on the forum more :)
  15. Its about time the car got back on the road... I hope you appreciate how hard it is having an NA on the drive for almost a year and not stripping it lol. And she's a beauty :) cant wait to get some better pics of her really showing off her fresh pearly paint :)
  16. Whilst we're on the subject of oil filters, GSF stock the correct one for a Z. Its a Mann Filter, but does the job. :) £2 something plus VAT.
  17. Yeah I know what you're saying. Its the first time I've completed an engine swap with just lil' old me around, usually I have at least one technically minded person around. lol. I'm just a bit unsure as I've done the auto to manual conversion at the same time.
  18. Yeah can do if you're free after I've finished work mate cheers :) Was thinking about bringing your wheels up to mine for steve to collect saturday, when was you planning to remove them?
  19. Nah its a TT box, starter, clutch, flywheel etc. The engine is turning over just not starting up. The only other thing I can say is theres only front pipes on the car at the mo, but again I'd still expect it to start, just run shit and sound noisy. lol
  20. Yep linked both sides of the connector in the wheelarch, haven't done the reverse light connector yet but I cant see that making a difference. and the ECU pin 44 ground job is just so the timing alters when in neutral?
  21. I have a '91 NA that has recently undergone some major surgery all at once... mainly a replacement engine and a manual conversion using TT gearbox & parts. Anyway I got all the fluids done at the weekend but it wouldnt start even after about a minutes worth of cranking, made no improvement in attempting to start so I figured something was up. I haven't checked for spark yet but theres definately fuel, just wondered if I had missed anything with the gearbox conversion? I haven't ground pin 44 on the ECU yet but that wont stop it will it? Will be looking at it tomorrow and unless anyone flags anything up I'll be checking connections & ptu etc.
  22. you know what... I totally agree with that. Richard your point is fair too, I guess its just that I know Dan doesnt mess people about.
  23. Just out of interest, what would have happened if Dan's reply was 'I'll take them, let me know a price" - because thats exactly what he meant just worded differently.
  24. only if theres an airbag, thats why you can turn them off in modern cars. thanks for the input nick, theres an idea... the missus in the back... lol
  25. He actually really likes the spoiler. And I was telling him how gay the convertible models are. Until I get one of course.
