Another No 6 cylinder failure
Jeff, my Z has a misfire from the n/s bank - cyl # 6 had a bit of oil around the threads on the sparkplug, but the plugs and coilpacks are ok. There was a bit of oil in the pipework around the o/s recirc. Does that sound like common symptoms? Its never had the boost increased or messed around with.

I think I want a new car...
This sort of thing would be ideal, an estate would give me much more flexibility when it comes to carrying items around - the rear seats in the alfa dont even fold down!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-AUDI-A4-1-8T-SPORT-GREY-/260639510613?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3caf535055 But its done 157,000 miles!!! I've seen lots with that sort of mileage, is that as bad as it sounds, or is there plenty of life left in it?

Any way of checking the internals?
I asked the same question before as I have a spare engine that 'apparently' had uprated internals, yes the only way to know is taking it apart.

I think I want a new car...
thanks Richard, I've never owned a diesel, maybe its time I looked at them lol. I know my budget isn't great, but I'm reluctantly thinking of changing the alfa, despite it being a very well equipped and smart car. Just don't want to end up with some base model thing, but hopefully I'll find something I will be happy with.

I think I want a new car...
...Daily driver that is. I currently have a 2 litre Alfa 156, its a brilliant car, just think I need something with a turbo for a bit more 'go'. So I'd sell the alfa for £1100-ish, I will be looking upto about £1500 for a turbocharged (petrol) motor - any suggestions or recommendations welcome! Ideally something fairly new - 1997 onwards. (new to me :blushing: ) Cars that have already crossed my mind: Saab 9-3 / 9-5 turbo Audi A4 / A6 1.8T Passat 1.8T Volvo S40 T4 any others? :helpsmilie:

I have a slight misfire...
No mate, have been busy sorting other things out on the car, waiting for my mate to give me his compression tester then I'll get it checked. Unless I can get my conzult to work if that may flag up any problems?

Damn, so sorry to hear it :( Give the engine builder a call, however its not going to help you out with the extra hassle of getting it sorted.

re-drilling wheels to another PCD
Nah she likes these wheels, and wheels off the wrong car is big in the VW world apparently  Gonna get some adapters, I think by the time a machine shop have welded/filled the existing holes, redrilled, and machined down, going to looking at £100 for the set. Therefore adapters seem the obvious solution. Cheers for the input guys.

re-drilling wheels to another PCD
Just bought some Audi wheels for the girlfriends new polo, standard wheels are 4x100, new ones are 5x100. I know PCD adapters are available (about £120) but I've noticed on the net that a couple of people have had wheels re-drilled. Would this raise any safety concerns or is it ok? I'm guessing any machine shop would be able to carry out the conversion? If its an acceptable way round it and works out a fair amount cheaper then we'll go down that route. thankZ :sweatdrop:

Used car rant
After going through 25 cars I'm pretty used to knowing what questions need asking, but theres nothing you can do when the person selling it dresses it up over the phone and holds back information. :(
