  1. Just luck of the draw isn't it. I think il stay Friday night next year so much more time to catch up with people that way.
  2. I must admit I did have my eye on one or two undesirables that were lurking/stumbling around, that is unfortunately part of life these days. Fortunately as far as I'm aware there wasn't any issues.
  3. I don't see how you can say that, Rolands felt uncomfortable with his car being subjected to some close up attention from joe public. The other ends of the lines were semi enclosed by a wall or etc, obviously most cars had a car on at least two sides, many three. Which meant bicycles couldn't be ridden round it etc. His car was open to the main through fare of public footfall, which was just an unlucky draw anyone could have ended up there. As Lexx already said if he felt uncomfortable, he should have said and he could have been moved. If Roland's felt uncomfortable in the location he was in, which I cant understand, in the open and venerable, he's entitled to feel that way. I'm fairly sure you were not actually there? I was, I saw where he was parked and I spoke to him at the event. The VAST majority of the public were spot on, I am however pretty sure if some one made you feel uncomfortable with your cars safety you would also be un-amused. Thankfully we all had a nice incident free day and enjoyed ourselves that is really what matters.
  4. it was quite fun watching your NA spitting flames on the way home haha :devil2:
  5. I'm not a fan of chrome inserts either, the dark inspects give them depth.
  6. There's one of those next month :)
  7. It was a great event, well organised well attended esp considering the weather. I do think though if it was every year it wouldn't be the same. Variety is the spice of life and all. Certinatly the central location was helpful, despite the dreadfull weather it still didn't take that long to drive the 150 miles each way.
  8. You were in a bit of a vonerable position tbh weren't you, right in the end of the row in the open.
  9. Just feels counter productive as rebuilding that stock tub will cost me £200 odd quid to stop it smoking, but at least then I Abe a good pair to sell when the time comes.
  10. You can get them anywhere, as Joel's said gt525 is like a brand name, z1 do it with all thier turbo packages pretty much. You can buy t28 cores and have your stock housing machined to fit the larger wheels, in essence that's all they are. CR turbos, turbo technics etc will all make them. However they arnt cheap, I wouldn't be surprised if you spent over a grand on them. Now I'm happy to be told otherwise but I think that's a lot of monies for some old fashioned journal bearing tubs which are a mild step up from stock, esp when superior BB turbos such as Garrett's gt2560r can be had for around 600 a side, they require some fettling but they are a better turbo for not a lot more money. I'm very interested in what options you come out with Noel, as far as I've seen the above are about the best bang for buck I've found. I do plan on matching it with breather mods eventually. I'm currently deciding weather to put up with my leaky drivers turbo and buy the gt2560s next year or rebuild/replace the driver side again and give myself some more time to save and buy the bigger a tubs with the breather mods in one hit. It just seems like wasted money fixing the drivers tub as it isn't causing much grief really.
  11. I dunno how much cake he ate, think I had 3 pieces. Lee kept giving it to me, not that I'm complaining. I'm on the right for those who don't know what I look like.
  12. The one on the right is jonce, the other I forget his name a mate of his who is doing up a mk2 golf
  13. Stainless goes with everything bud its like black.
  14. There all available from local fixings places, maybe not the fancy anodized ones but the stainless ones. just take in what you want and they will soon match them all up for you :D if you can get proper 316 stainless(marine grade) as well they will last a lifetime before rusting, the cheaper 303 grade will eventually start to pepper with rust.
  15. That damage to the seat will be from leaky targa's. If you can get him down to £2500 and it checks out good up close it sounds like a winner.
  16. Money on modifications is often money wasted, rarely will you make any return, sometime even a step back. You can't own a car like these as an investment, unless you buy a mint orginal car and leave it in dry storage for ten years your unlikely to have made a sound investment. Some things like 99 spec rear lights or a set of newish aftermarket turbos may help, aesthetic lifts and doing away with perceived trouble spots, but overall you get the point. I'm not going to say names or even alude to them(not that it matters because the car mostly in my mind, has been broken now anyway) but a really high profile z32 I've seen with 10s of thousands put into mods neglected the simple details, for example this car had ratty split window seals( mine has the same btw), you can't demand top dollar if the basics arnt covered. A friend of mine builds some highly expensive cars that have won a fair few awards and he always repeats to me that it's the little things that count, like making all the bolts line up in the engine bay. Yes it's over the top but all those little things are what creates a true show stopping classic. How many z32s are rolling around with grotty scuttles, worn targa trims etc etc. We all know the common age related niggles. A perfect paint job combined with those doesn't make a perfect car. Once you look at a lot of other classic cars old fords particularly the standard of them is significantly higher, an A1 condition mk1 escort is really something, I don't think I've seen more a hand full of A1 z32s. One day prices will rise as the fritters drop out and hopefully more A1 cars will start to appear. It's a double edged sword. So next time you've got money burning a hole for your investment ask yourself what's worth more, some flash wheels or sorting out those leaky targas? Dont take this the wrong way, mine is far from perfect but I don't profess it is. It's extremely average, it's also a toy that gets used so I can't be to precious or I'd never use it, which I would consider a waste.
  17. Most will refuse to tow you if the think your car is lowered, I had that argument a few years ago(before mine was lowered)
  18. I really felt bad for you mate, that's just a run of really bad luck. Hopefully sorting it out won't be as bad as expected.
  19. Looks, nah there was a purple zed with us those that kept winking at me.
  20. I'm not surprised, bending the laws of pshyics uses a lot of fuel remember haha.
  21. I drove 304miles on one tank of fuel without the light coming on, bloody hell.
  22. The journey back was crazy, heavy rain, thunder slowed everyone down to 40ish! I couldn't even see the rear three out of the six of us. Then suddenly it dried up sun came out and ompal appeared from nowhere, cruised back to the m3 together. I must say the whole day was well organised, Jeff's donation and further Steve's donation was fantastic.
  23. Myself included in that, hopefully the weathercock be more positive.
