Another Question
Probably a dvla discrepancy. Quite a unique looking Zed!

Pictures can be deceiving.
Yeah. In my mind over time I could of got it looking like TonyB's given time. But the starting point isn't financially viable. His and Murdoch's Zed in Spain are fantastic examples. Colour is rare and looks great on a Zed.

Pictures can be deceiving.
Cheers Andrew. You are so right. Even though I knew the car wasn't for me I still nearly went for it just to get back in a Zed. If I manage to find one it'll be a sensible and considered decision I hope.

Pictures can be deceiving.
Indeed. I went hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I wasn't lol

Pictures can be deceiving.
Cheers Gary. Budget dictates I can't have what I want but I still look all the time. Admittedly I've only just accepted I'll probably only get back in a Zed in NA form now. I don't mind a bit of a project but circumstances are different now so no way I can pump the sort of money into one like I did previously. Been hard enough convincing the better half I can just about afford another. Hopefully something will come up. Daffy.

Pictures can be deceiving.
So although my ideal Zed is a SWB TT Manual (pref. Slicktop) I went to look at a LWB NA Auto today. http://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/nissan-300zx-/1113605959 I thought it looked quite clean and straight in the pics and the description gave the impression it had seen some recent expenditure in all the right areas with regards to maintenance. As it was only a short trip up the M4 I went to take a look with cash in hand. Unfortunately it was so much less than I imagined. Dents in several panels, rust on arches and cills. Massive lip on rusty discs and cheap tyres. Wheels dire, paintwork way beyond correcting. Engine bay disgusting, tears in several interior panels, boot panels missing. Cheap tint peeling of windows. Etc etc..... Started ok and seemed to be running ok but wasn't worth taking for a drive as it needed too much spending on it to even begin to make it presentable. I have no doubt the work it states as having been done has indeed been done but longer ago than the advert would leave you to believe. If you are still interested the seller can get it resprayed in Midnight Purple for a grand and can sort you out with brand new coilovers for £250. Told the guy to let me know if he still has it in a week as I might be interested but at a rock bottom price. He wants it off his drive, I want to be in a Zed again. We'll see...... Daffy.

I was referring to the OP's 'crawl' jibe without trying to appear cruel Si :tt2:

At a quandary with my interior.
I prefer the velour to the leather interior Si. But I'm a little odd as I actually like the tweed! It has to be in immaculate condition though. If I were you I'd put the standard series 3 in that you've purchased and sell your leather. I think you've already made your mind up tbh. The current leather is now looking a little dated in its style, the series 3 will be in keeping until Mondo works his magic on a more fitting update for you. I'm sure you'll have no problem shifting your current interior. Always good to see even prime examples of the marque being continuously improved year on year. You and a few others on here have got it down to a fine art. Nice work Si.

SWB Sale
I have to say personally i think it looks awesome in its latest guise. Even down to the colour of the split rim centres :thumbup1:

Coilover rebuild?
These guys will rebuild them. But I'm pretty sure rebuild costs are similar to buying a new set. Worth asking though bud. http://www.mickgardnerracing.com/cars.html

When money is no object...
Description says £115 posted if paid by PayPal. So why not just put the price at that? Strange!!

UK Nissan 300zx
For what it's worth I just tried the advertised number and it's unrecognised. Did anyone on here have any luck contacting the seller?

What I don't understand is why someone selling a car (any car) can not be bothered to clean it first, take all their crap/rubbish/detritus out, run the Hoover round it and take some half decent photos. The pictures alone put me off, and he's asking 'proper' money for it. I know the market has improved but that seems expensive to me.

Weight saving on a zed
I'm with you Si. If I want something I save for it. Trouble is currently it's a new roof and a new boiler. Not a zed  Seems that saving is old school though.

zed prices rising
Be interesting to know what you guys posting on this thread actually value your cars at. Is it for insurance purposes or what you feel you'd achieve as a sale price if you did indeed sell? Some great cars in this club, and in my opinion it is the OEM+ examples that will command a premium. Obviously there are a couple of exceptions like Bob and James' track cars. Those are in a different category entirely, but both stunning in looks and performance. Daffy.

Maybe I'm over reacting but......
Why do you assume parts from that car will be advertised for sale 3 days after someone bought it? They might not even have collected it yet.
