Then again - I am 103 yrs old and live in the outer Hebredes! No seriously im 30 and live in Herts with no no claims bonus!

Carole Nash Fully comp in my TT is £300 per year with no mileage limitations and I get free breakdown (which I've used and it was better than AA cover!) and cover all reound Europe!

I am about to mess about with some body mods (bought a new bonnet, some bumpers - the fiat rear light panel ect..) and asked a mate who owns a garage if I could borrow some space to paint them.. He said no, but put me in touch with a guy who is renting out his whole yard. Apparently there is a fourcourt for 30 cars, a huge lock up garage for 10 cars, a small workshop and a portacabin for an office. It is available really cheaply. It is in Hertfordshire near south mymms (Thats where the A1 crosses the M25) Could this be of use to anyone here?

I have just bought a system, which I am importing from the states. I am going to give a few sets of headlight inserts a go - and if the quality is good I will be able to Chrome ANYTHING.. :) If the quality is rubbish I can get my money back as long as I send it back in 30 days.... I should have it by Friday and have some things Chromed for the meets in Feb...

so 2x turbo kits £320 + 17.5% = £376 + 2x £50 for balancing = £476 for a pair of reconditioned 360 T25's that still sounds good to me...

ok - even though I can get the 360 rebuild kits for 160, not getting them balanced just doesnt seem worth it! I have done a full search - I dont want all you grease monkeys telling me about slight vibrations at 1000000000000000000000 RPM smashing my engine to bits!

I am looking into rebuilding my Turbos myself with a 360 rebuild kit - which I have found quite cheaply, but I am a bit concerned about the effects of NOT having the internals balanced (which I can't do at home) Has anyone rebuilt their own Turbos before?

OK - Baggins has just called me just so I could listen to my engine running for the first time, which is great, but he did say my car will not be run in enough to launch it down the strip. So if ai come, it will just be for moral support. I could come in my silver NA, but I wont be doing the 10s runs I was hoping to... ha ah aha ha aha aha ha aha ha aha

Count me in! Baggins fired my engine up for the first time today since he rebuilt it... Should be all run in nicely by then.. And I have family in Wellingb'gh..

I quit on xmas eve - just went cold turkey... I hope this helps when you first quit AND you really want to quit - you are prepared for the withdrawl symptoms (which you only get for 48hrs while which is how long it takes to leave your bloodstream) so a lot of people are ready for the effects (test of will power to break the addiction). if you can go past 48 hrs - you have beaten your addiction. for the next week - you will be fighting the mental affects of the HABIT - but if you keep telling yourself that you beat the addiction then breaking the habbit is easy. Do not replace the habit of reaching for a fag with chewing gum - since you can fall back into the habit of smoking when your replacment is not available.. really go cold turkey. It's the change in behavioh pattens which will help you long term. After then - you have quit... no more addiction - no more habit. HTH

I think the words you are looking for are: Red Zeds are the most 'common' All other Zeds are more exclusive since they are owned in smaller numbers!

Andy - would your theory account for poor cold starting? or poor starting all the time?

I am having a similar issue with my new project.. but I have noticed it is only from cold. If the engine is warm it starts straight away.. Is this the same for you?

I think the car should be over 10 yrs old to be a classic. I'm 30 and pay £230 fully comp from Carole Nash. also gives me break down and cover in Europe. I called the break down once and they we very quick.. Excellent insurance - but then - you can tell 'till you make a claim!

I have had both, and they are not easy to compare. ongoning costs of the merc will be suprisingly similar, but the fuel economy is a killer with an average of 12mpg (which included some long runs....). I will say this - only pensioners will stop and stare at the merc - where as everyone stares at Zeds... If you need any real convincing, the next time you srive your zed - actually look at peoples reactions. You sort of get used to it. I had to give a lift to a mate who couldn't believe how many people were staring, and he drives a Porsche GT3! Keep the Zed - anyway - zeds are far more fun!
