  1. Glad to hear it went well. Fingers crossed for you.
  2. Nice pics mate, have you got any information on the 2nd one down (red one with 5 spoke wheels) I haven't seen a front bumper like that before. who makes it?
  3. Ahh, I don't have a car with a towbar. Doh!
  4. No probs mate, Let me know how it goes, you have my number. I know you will be fine.
  5. Dave I have hundreds of SQL books. You can borrow some if you want to brush up between now and monday?
  6. Lol, cheers, I just pm'd you asking these questions and a couple more! please reply to the pm. Many thanks Steve
  7. While I am now actively lookingfor a zed, I have been toying with the idea of dropping a V8 into one. (ever since a guy I know has decided he wasn't going to drop a V8 into his morris minor and has finally decided to sell his engine and gearbox on!) I am negotiating a deal on the engine and box as we speak and need donor car. There is an NA for sale on this forum which looks to me like it would make a good basis for the conversion. What would be the cheapest way to get it recovered from north London to Birmingham. I couldn't tow it, as it would be completely unroadworty and I have just asked the AA and they wouldn't bring it if its not taxed and mot'd. Anyone here know of any good cheap transportation companies, or would any member be able to give me a hand moving it? I need to know the potential costs in moving it before I make the guy an offer.
  8. I think you probably meant to put this post in one of the other forums!

  10. How does the cost/bhp of fitting a v8 compare with tuning a TT lump? I read somewhere that you can get 500RWBHP for around £7500 (one of AndyDuffs posts, so who am I to argue!) Could you buy and fit a V8 with that kind of power for that price?
  11. With the people here who have been there, done it and got the t-shirt when it comes to dropping an american V8 into a zed. How much does it cost and who does the work? Do you do it yourself or have a company or mechanic do it? I know of someone who has been threatening to sell a LS1 engine and 6sp gearbox. I can't do the work myself and I'm sure there will need to be a lot of extra parts/work to make it fit. So as a project, what does it cost? whats needed? and who could do it for me?
  12. A guy at work has a claimed 470 fwbhp poopra. I said it will be around 420 rwbhp (with about 10% transmission loss) if he was lucky. He has got the hump saying the difference isn't that much and he should have at least 450 at the wheels. Is that right? I thought the very best cars gave away 10% and some can be closer to 20% What power is he likely to have at the wheels?
  13. What does the full conversion cost including fitting? Drive in an auto and drive out a manual type cost?

  15. I have to rebuild a pc and can't find my xp pro disks anywhere. I might bite the bullet and convert to Linux. It's only used for video/music edititng and a bit of web development so it doesn't need lots on it. What do you guys think? Anyone here tried it?
  16. It's magic! http://www.coolsmartphone.com/images/stories/debbee.jpg
  17. I agree with you completely Dave that you can't get better than 100% which would be the original uncompressed data. But a Disk which is running at 10% compression will be better than a disk running 30% compression. So uncompressing a 4GB DVD disk from 30% compression to its 7GB original format then deleting 3GB of foriegn languages, subtitles and trailers to give you 4GB disk which needs none or very minor compression will always be better.
  18. OK - I downloaded DVD Shrink - worked perfectly - thanks guys. heres the guide I used. http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=6#6;65 You can even get better than original quality. I uncompressed the DVD then removed all the languages and trailers that I didn't want, so when I recompressed it to fit onto my DVD the ratio was better. Looks great with less digitisation/ pixelation.
  19. Is it possible to get any software to do this? I just bought the new Planet Earth box set for my mum's xmas pressie, and would like to take a copy of it? I tried to copy the files off the DVD to my HDD then from there back to a blank DVD, but no joy. Is it possible?
  20. Joke or no joke, you still failed.

  23. Nick, I am a SQL Developer and work with PHP/PERL developers all the time. You are really selling yourself short if you take a job for 27k. Sign up with a good agency who specialise in placing someone with your skills. Don't look at Jobserve to guage your worth as the agencies there will be more general IT agencys. Do you have an online showcase of your skills to show off what you can do? It doesn't have to be pretty as long as it does some nice neat server side processing!
