Pimp my ride
I think it's nice, although I'm not at all sure about the transparent bonnet. I'd probably lose the stickers from the front windscreen but the paint job and the wheels are fantastic.

What have they done.......
   :nelson: Why would you stick a pug front-end on a zed??!???!? That's wrong! People who do that kind of thing should not be allowed to own zeds! And what is it with F1 spoilers??!? They're just WRONG! The really do only look any good on champ cars, indy cars and... well, F1 cars basically. :headvswal Honestly. On the plus side I think that the red one may actually just be a model, although I could be wrong. If you look at the ground it just doesn't look at quite the right scale.

will 215 tyres fit 8 inch rims?
215 mm = 8.46 in, which is nowhere near big enough. Everything you ever wanted to know about tyre / wheel sizes (well probably) is at: http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/index.html?menu.html&tyre_bible.html. Found it the other day myself.

Ebay Fraud
Ouch! Good on her for tackling them head-on though. And of course, that's another brand of car that I now know I'll never be buying. ;)

An "interesting" zed
....seem to be some sort of new fad (well, at least over the last year or two). I've never seen a car that looked good with one on. :hurl: Why do people do that? The wheels are nice but I'm afraid that's about it.... oh yeah and I don't think there are quite enough guages in their either. :smash:

Another (sorry) wheel related question
Spot on. Thanks. :)

Another (sorry) wheel related question
I'm assuming Z wheels should have 5 bolts / studs (I can't clearly remember even though it's only a week since I dropped mine off), but does anybody know what the pitch circle diameter is? Cheers, Bart

Does'nt arf get hot in ere!!!
Yep, transmission tunnel every time. I've noticed this too. Go on: use the climate control, you know you want to!

Surely everybody must have felt like this !!
That's very rude... but also very funny. Makes me wonder about a lot of those tops you see ppl wearing with Japanese characters on. I know the observation has been made before, but do they all say something rather insulting about the wearer? The truth is I've no idea: it might be all peace and love.

Red Z, northbound on M11 at 10.21 am today.
Not sure of too many details beyond that. I was heading southbound towards A603 junction into Cambridge, you were headed north towards Girton interchange / A14 just northwest of Cambridge.

Mate, I know EXACTLY how you feel, but you've just got to keep looking. There will be a decent one out there, but even there you can expect a few teething problems. Mine's solid: mechanically, structurally, bodywork all great. No rust, no welding. A really clean example, but guess what? She's just cracked a wheel right through one of the spokes for no apparent reason and it can't be welded because it might fail again at speed. Now it's all under warranty so it's not that big a deal but the wheels are some oddball Japanese brand that seems to be quite hard to get hold of so I basically need a whole new set: the dealer's going to find me another set or if I don't like them give me £300 towards it but being basically fussy I'm looking for just the right set of wheels, and it looks like that'll set me back £500 - £800 in total, but of course I'll be paying £300 less than this. It's a hassle but I budgeted £1000 extra for sorting bits out. But in the end I think it'll be more than worth it. I'm telling you, driving the thing is fantastic. I missing having it like hell at the moment having to drive around in my old Clio, which luckily I hadn't yet sold. All Zs are great cars (at least if they've been looked after), but I *love* my manual TT. It looks great, it sounds great, it goes like the clappers, and popping from 2nd into 3rd and then 4th on a manual is just fantastic. Mind you, the back end is a bit twitchy but I imagine having driven BMWs you'll be more comfortable with the rear wheel drive from the start than I was / am: I still drive around town in it like a granny at the moment. Like I say just keep looking: it really will be more than worth it in the end when you find a decent one.

You got some guts doing all that. Respect is due. Was thinking of taking my dash off at some point to replace the white dash lighting with blue LEDs (and maybe a couple of red ones for the centres of the dials), but now I'm thinking maybe not. All the best with it mate. Hope you get her back on the road soon.

Hmm... I think I phoned up about this one a while ago (I just bought my Z about three weeks ago but had been looking for around 6 months before that) and from memory I think it's a N/A. You might want to phone them and check though. Now, here's a related whinge, but please indulge me: it's late and I can well empathise with your frustration. During 6 months of hunting for a Z I got *well* fed-up of having to phone people up because they hadn't stated the following pieces of what I would consider to be fairly crucial information, and particularly when it was dealers who sell cars for a living and who therefore ought to know better: - Mileage - Manual or automatic - N/A or TT - 2 + 2 or SWB - Model year - Interior trim - Targa or slick top What got up my nose even more was when people (again, particularly dealers) forgot pieces of the above information but stated things like "Very quick car" in the advert. What?!? WHAT??!??!?. Of course it's a quick car; why are you telling me it's a quick car?!? It's a 300 ZX!!! They're all quick!! That's why I want one! If I wanted a granny car I wouldn't be looking at flaming 300 ZXs in the first place. Tell me something I don't know about it for goodness sake. Grr. Sorry, I get quite strident about this. Shouldn't let it get to me. Just wanted to say I know how it is when you find what looks like it might be a good car but don't quite have all the information.

First super-weapon wheels
Thanks mate, much appreciated. Just surfed over there for a look and they've got some excellent looking wheels. I've added 8 sets to my wishlist and I'm going to give them a call on Monday as not all of them have prices, unless of course they really are selling them for £0.00 ;) -- yeah right, I wish. The ones that do have prices are pretty expensive, but if I go down this route the dealer is going to give me £300 anyway which will sweeten the blow a bit. I'm hoping he might have a set I like but I'll have to wait and see. Cheers, Bart

First super-weapon wheels
Quick question: where are the best places to get wheels for Zs? I still don't have sizes yet so I'm slightly scuppered but I think I'll badger the dealer about this tomorrow, so at least I can look around feeling a bit more informed. Zcentre does link to a load of wheel manufacturers' sites but I was wondering if there's anywhere in the UK with a decent website where I can a better idea of prices cos' none of the sites linked from Zcentre have prices. Cheers, Bart

OK, well then this also might be post-whoring, although as yet I haven't even reached 100 I don't think. It does seem pretty much wrong to be sat in on a Friday night tapping away on my computer though.

Mid4 ooh yes please...
I quite like it: I mean for a car from the 80s it's quite nice. The only thing is the wheels are a bit naff and it looks like there might be a dent just in front of the rear wheel on the RHS (could be a trick of the light, can't be sure). Bet getting spares would be a nightmare though.

Another what d'ya think of this thread...
Yeah, that yellow one: I was going to go and see it myself at one point, but then it blew a turbo, had an engine rebuild and the price went up by £1500. He also put some better pictures on Autotrader and it became immediately apparent why he can't shift it: it's hanging! Whoever inflicted those mods on it needs shooting (IMHO).

Fair enough. Sounds good to me. Hope it goes all right whatever you decide.

Eh? Can those of us not in the know have a bit of an explanation please?
