  1. Yes, it was painted at the same time to the rest. Is there any way to avoid this?
  2. My car is pearl white, it does have a metallic tinge to it.
  3. Welcome to the coolest Z place to be :) Stick up some pics of your ride so we can see what you've bought :) Peter
  4. I know. you'd think wouldn't you. They did warn me before if was painted though and they know what they're talking about. but i don't understand why it happens.
  5. Anyone got any pics of the fog light ducts installed on a regualr TT front bumper? I'm thinking of slightly modifying the stock bumper and doing away with the fogs and putting LED sidelights in the duct holes. Peter
  6. HI All, Ok, here's the problem. I had my front bumper, door, rear quarter panel and boot all resprayed a few month ago. Now when i took it to the bodyshop for an estimate they said that even though they would paint them all in the same way the front nose would never be a perfect match because it is plastic. Now sure enough, they painted all the parts needed and the bumper did look a different shade. I've used the same bodyshop for 12 years now and they've always been spot on with everything. Is there any reason this would happen? also, i'm looking to get my front and rear bumpers both painted again in the near future and wondered if there is any way to prevent this mis match of colour. Cheers Peter
  7. Lol. was referring to the annoying beep rather than the box  Plus, the auto box is perfect for people like me who use the car as a daily and end up sitting in traffic half the time :) Peter
  8. Anyone, what's the purpose of this irritating bag of shite? I mean, why have it all?? makes no sense? Peter
  9. Stupid qustion buty is it definately coming from the front? I had a leak from some seal thingy on top of the petrol tank but the smell kept wafting forward with the wind. Peter
  10. I agree. Black only looks ok on a black car. Any other colour car makes it look like the wheels just blend into the arches. Shadow chrome is like a dark deep chrome as apose to the mirror chrome we all see so often. I had Shadow chrome on my old '88 Prelude and they looked really good, but that car was black. I'd say go for Silver or Chrome. Peter
  11. I've got the beeper too. what the HELL is it for?? I put the car in reverse, i know i'm going backwards, why do i need a beeper? wouldn't care but it's only audable inside the car? usually you have the sound OUTSIDE the car/van/truck to warn other people you're going in reverse!! Peter
  12. There's a house near where i work got 3 of those in his garden. all in the sasme colour too.
  13. Nice :) Almost convinced me to remove the pinstriping from the bottom of my car :)
  14. I just can't believe you whipped your top up and showed her your nipples  Try some WD40. (Laugh if you like, but give it a go)
  15. HI there, welcome to the forum :)
  16. Thought you'd hate them si  Actually, these ones don't look too bad. they are slightly itallic and look very professional if applied right :)
  17. Get some adhesive chrome lettering from e-bay to spell fairlady Z. will look far better http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150455846078&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I got some to spell something else and i highly recommend them. Peter
  18. Agree with the Waxoyl but do not, repeat DO NOT use a car cover. Had one on my Trans Am, several types actually over the years, and the one thing they all have in common is that they wreck the paintwork. Even a gentle wind moves the cover very slightly back and forward no matter how well it's tied down. Best case scenario you'll end up with light scratches all over, worst case (like me) the paint will have completely worn off from the high raised areas. I had to get the wing mirrors and spoiler completely re-painted as the paint had rubbed off down to the primer. Even had a one with the furry type lining and the same thing happened. One split in 2 in the rain and another ended up with tiny holes in it which let water in and then held the water to the car. Peter
  19. I love watching bodywork progress threads. Looks really smart :) Peter
  20. Out of interest, you said you BOUGHT the car? how much for. I thought someone would have to pay 50 quid to take that away. If you've got the heart though, then you can be well proud of yourself if you turn what's left of a Z into something really special :) Peter
  21. I too would have said Matrix. i've had this happen before. Not plesant. :( Peter
  22. I agree. in fact i'm pretty sire that this has been photoshopped into a Supra and was originally the new lexus prototype. PS. do you sell bodykits on the Supra site? did i get my Bomex front end from you? Peter
  23. I've recieved a fine for that size lettering in February on my Supra, which i'm currently arguing with the police about. Here is some guidance you may find useful Thank you for your email received on 11/12/09. Your email reference number is 186847. The Road Vehicles ( Display of Registration Marks) (Amendment) regulations 2002 SI no. 2687 came into force in November 2002. These amendment regulations introduce a new regulation 14A, making special provision in relation to the size and spacing of characters in the registration number of some imported vehicles. These regulations also include the display of motorcycle sizes number plates on imported vehicles. The provision only applies to vehicles imported into the UK which do not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval, and are so constructed, that the area available for the fixing of the registration plate precludes the display on the plate of a registration number in conformity with the requirements of regulation 14. Also contained is an amendment to regulation 3, to prohibit the use of a number plate on which the background is patterned or textured, or gives that appearance. Where a vehicle has been allocated a UK registration number, the number plate must comply with the specification and standards laid out in the Road Vehicles ( Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001, as amended. Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display numberplates with smaller characters if the vehicle does not have European Community Vehicle Type Approval and the vehicle's construction/design cannot accommodate standard size numberplates. The dimensions for the smaller sized plate are: • each character in the registration number must be 64mm high the width of each character of the number, other than the letter 'I' and the figure '1' must be 44mm • the width of every part of the stroke forming a character in a number must be 10mm the spacing between any two characters within a group must be 10mm • the vertical spacing between groups of characters must be 5mm • the width of a margin between the number and the top and lateral sides of the numberplate must be not less than 5mm • the space between the bottom of the number/character and the bottom of the plate must not be less than 13mm, but within that space, the space between the bottom of the number and the top of the name and postcode of the person the plate was supplied must not be less than 5mm.
