  1. Good purchase Rob - I'd seen that and thought 'bloody tidy motor' Pleased its gone to a forum member! What happened to the Red Zed? I must have missed the 'I blew up my car' or 'stacked my car today' thread... All the best - hope its as good as it looks - see you at Zedworld (you'll be the one with the big grin - I'll be the one who's slightly green..)
  2. If you know so bloody much, just come out and say it.. Stop being a smart arse and set the record straight. I for one, would have a little bit more respect for you. So c'mon, whats the craic?
  3. I love it... Has deteriated this last series, but still funny -and worth a watch ~# ~
  4. Should have gone to spec savers :cool3: Looks ok with the roof down (did someone say boot space?) But fookin hell, Id have to have 5 pints before i'd even consider giving it one with the roof up  Lets face it - dynamicall it would suck, we dont have enough sunshine over her and its fugly with the roof up.. Youd be much better of with a merc SLK! Ahem!
  5. Leptons? WTF are Leptons? Are they off the starboard bow? Anyway, with those skimpy profiles you're probably advised to keep a bit more pressure in them, you don't want to hit a pot hole and fook the rim.. I have 235's front and rear, with THE cheapest tyres known to mankind :helpsmilie: Makes for effortless oversteer (in the wet, anyway)
  6. Good news mate! SO once you've flashed eleventy million pounds at the government, you'll be good to go. My advice - get that heater working! Enjoy!
  7. Personally, I run 30 psi max at this time of year. Front or back. If I want to have some fun then yeah, pump them up. But generally hard, cold tyres and 300+ power don't mix with greasy winter roads. What size wheels are you running? And what profile rubber? That'll make a big difference also..
  8. Well looks like I will be attending! I will be dropping my car off at Zedworld this Sat and picking it up (all being well) the following sat - which by my reckoning means I'll be there! My missus will have to drop me off, but she generally mocks me for my car habit - so maybe she'll disappear off in to the distance, who knows! Thanks in advance to Z-Team :2guns:
  9. hi Nick, really sorry to hear about your recent problems - that cracked block was a cruel blow. glad to see you're feeling a little more positive today. When times are bad its best to think about what you have got, rather than what you haven't: you're buying a house which (in this time of crisis) is pretty remarkable and (touch wood) have a steady job - so, it could be worse. It just goes to show, you can't always have your cake and it eat. On a plus note, things should soon improve - you'll have enough on your plate with the new house for a few months, then by the time the summer is up and running you can have another bash at getting your project fully finished (if you don't manage to finish it now, that is) and still have plenty of sunshine to enjoy it. Things always seem worse on a piss-wet misreable winter's day:yes: Take it easy bud, hope to see you soon!
  10. If any of the joists got wet, then its possible that the wood has become more supple and is assuming a new position. As long as the floor/ceiling is dry then it should settle down. The joists should easily be able to support that weight, no doubt about it. Most houses are continually moving in very small amounts - most people don't notice until a crack appears in some plaster somewhere. Nothing to worry about, as long as the mortar doesn't crack. I would get a professional opinion though AND make sure the insurance are happy with the setup, before any incident occurs.
  11. I like going sideways... but... Just pick the right places. If you get caught out you might hurt yourself or someone else. Just imagine explaining to plod that the reason you bent 2 nice cars was because you were trying to drift it over an off-camber, blind summit hairpin left!Much better to find a quiet industrial estate, or well sited quiet B-roads that you are familiar with.. Assuming you're not a complete Nimrod, then I absolutely agree - more talk about enjoying these cars.. IMO the Zed is a great car for drifting - I don't very often try it in the dry, but in the wet its easily caught, held and adjusted - you just need to know the surface underneath your wheels (never assume that grip is constant, it can change meter by meter). I've heard people say that the Zed is a bit awkward, but I reckon they're a bit limp wristed. Sometimes you have to man-handle it to keep a slide going but don't be scared of it - just build up slowly. If you do get caught out in future then it always helps if you know how to respond in an emergency situation.. The worst thing about these conditions though, is spinning the wheels when you don't mean to. I had it at Xmas, doing X mph in fourth gear when the rears hit a bump and spun up. That's pretty scary - not something I enjoyed! Be safe, have fun - simple
  12. I don't get this.. You're not even sure about the condition of your car, but you're prepared to buy another (potentially bent) shell to swap everything into? Sounds like a fine way of turning a small job into a massive one (do you know my missus?). If you really wanna strip your car down and build it back up again, then fine - I don't have an issue with that. You must have way too much time on your hands!:whistling: But if you just wanna get the bodywork minted, then at least seek professional advice (or at least do a proper assessment) first. Having the car at a body shop for a few weeks would be bad enough for me, but to have 2 cars in bits for an indefinite period of time is crazy. Sell yours and buy a minter IMO. But what do I know - I'm scared of spanners
  13. Mine does this too, Which completely defeats the object - agreed! At least you've realised before leaving your car parked in the middle of town or something. Let us know if you figure out a fix.. Cheers
  14. So just to get this straight.. You had your zed stolen and now you want to track the previous owner down? Somehow, I don't expect you'll be getting a refund mate - sorry :tt2: Any word from the feds about your motor? or is it gone for good? Sorry to hear about that
  15. My mate in Scotchland bought something similar - Not all the Ralliart versions are the flared-arched evo-engined beasts you're thinking of. Bit of a gimmick and a play on words - but very probably a genuine pajero (ralliart)..
  16. I think it must have shrunk in the wash - seems a lot tighter than I remember!:whistling:
  17. I used to drive one of those, it was my company car back then. Can't tell you too much about it, it was all a bit hush-hush, if you know what I mean. What I can tell you though, is - There's absolutely no headroom in the back - or seats for that matter. Luggage stowage and in-cabin storage are dreadful. Its loud and very, very hot. And a fookin nightmare to park (you thought the Zed's steering lock was bad!) But other than that, it was a complete fanny magnet! Chicks dig big black ones (they do?) Never forget the time I went to lower the window and accidentally fired a ballistic missile into Argos (chuckle) - good times:lol:
  18. Good job pete, the car is looking very well indeed. And thank you Bob, we've all enjoyed watching you blow a fortune on this epic motor. Love the fact its very low-key, quite the opposite from your last one eh? Will look forward to seeing it in the flesh, great job guys!
  19. I've heard of quotes upto 5-6k for a full on roof-to-carpet refurb (presumably with wilton shagpile and buffalo hide). :scared: That was enough to put me off. I definitely can't be arsed to do jobs like that myself. They can sometimes look a little amatuerish too. Nothing worse than a new interior that sags like your 70 year old nan:cursing: Anyhoo - I would guess there's a happy medium somewhere but I bet you it would still be upwards of 2k. And that's a lot of money you'll see very little return on. However, you'd appreciate it every time you sat in it. Don't go for the most expensive materials and the cheapest fit - thats a sure fire recipe for disaster. Average materials fitted well, will always look better - miles better. ANd if you do get it done - be sure to share your results..
  20. I offered to let the missus drive my car back from a blast down some country lanes. Just hop on the motorway and take it easy all the way home - but she declined! She used to love driving my skyline! and yes, she did manage to curb it - we passed a police car (she got nervous) and whilst looking in the mirror managed to ramp the car up the curb at 30mph, fortunately it didn't have low profile tyres on it. The worst bit was getting her to park it..'if you want to drive it, you have to park it on the drive' I said. So she did, all askew - so I made her do it again. She pulled forward, back and ended up in the same position. So I told her to do it again. She did, only this time she tok the wing mirror off on the gate post  I wouldn't have minded - but it was the one I'd recently replaced after some low life kicked my other one off.. :headvswal Moral of the story - get out while you can. I'd still let her drive the Zed mind - its only a car (did I just say that?) I let my other mate drive my Zed, but I get to drive his M3, Caterham and Skyline GTS - so its only fair really :yinyang: Its the automotive equivelent of swinging - like watching someone bang your missus:blink:
  21. Nice car, very nice infact Just be careful though. My mate bought a E46 M3 and slowly developed a bulging forehead until it got to the point I had to tell him to stop being an arse-wipe and stop going on about his fookin M3. He shut up a bit when my 3.5k Zed toasted him - from any speed... It might not happen to you, but just be careful - check the mirror regularly for early symptoms...
  22. Rome... Been to many European cities and Rome was head and shoulders above the rest. Prague was also good (not in the 'english lad's stag holiday' way) Barcelona was excellent too, but that's already been mentioned (going to the top of the Gaudi Cathederal and shitting myself was spectacular!) Also, S-c-u-n-t-horpe is particularly nice that time of year:whistling:
  23. Yeah - I agree As much as i think the police are useless wastes of space, I do think that pro-active policing is the way forward. AT least he didn't hold you up too long.. Its a fair cop, guv...:detective:
