  1. I'm always wary of putting worn/used parts on to fix a problem.. Changed the gearbox on my sierra and ended up back where i started a few months down the line. But, given my annual mileage (low) - it could make sense. It would be nice if it was something so simple, but knowing my luck its more likely to be something more serious! Think I need to go for another drive and see if I can't narrow it down a bit more..
  2. Christ, at this rate I may as well just move into his spare room! Didn't realise though, so thanks for the heads up!
  3. I did wonder about this, but surely it would do it in every gear - not just 2nd and 4th??? will see if its possible to check the condition at Zedworld.. Will keep this in mind and see what the cost of a rebuild is - if at all it even needs it (but my guess is it will - lol). thanks for the replies guys
  4. So, a little after 6 weeks of having my car back I think its developing another wallet busting mechanical issue :helpsmilie: I'm hearing too much from the gearbox recently. Particularly 2nd and 4th gear, which I'm guessing means there's a bearing going on that shaft? When I take it past 5 thou rpm in either of those gears i'm hearing a vibration/rattling noise which also transfers to the gear knob? I was hoping it might just be in need of an oil change ('box oil) so I've booked it in at Zedworld next week. But after two spirited driving sessions yesterday I'm pretty convinced it's shagged. It also seems to be getting more prominant. I know the synchros on the pre '98 cars are prone to failure, but it doesn't seem to be synchro related, the shift is still sweet enough and not difficult to engage - its once once the gear is home that the noise starts. Has anyone else had problems similiar to this? Also at low revs in high gears (4th & 5th), it sounds like there's a lot of slack, not excessive vibration but pretty noticeable. Finally - what are the options gearbox wise? A new '98 spec box is gonna set me back in the region of 1500-1750 imported and fitted. But I'd rather upgrade to a 6 speed box if it does need replacing. Yowser was on about the Borg-Warner box from the Camaro - has anyone done this conversion previously? I imagine its generally a ball ache process trying to sort the bell housing and prop shaft? What other options are there? Is it possible to rebuild the existing box? Damn these bloody Zed cars with their swiss cheese mechanicals :crying:
  5. Well, nearly! Just got back from my travels yesterday, so there was about an inch of dust and plant debris on my car. I was out of Tripplewax shampoo, so nipped to Asda for a few car cleaning products. Got a carrier bag full of tins, magic potions and enough micro-fibre cloths to make a patch work quilt. There was an offer on the T-Cut and Car Polish - 4 quid for the lot. Then I spent the next 3 hours washing, drying, T-Cutting and polishing the Zed. The paintwork has looked a little tired for some time. Namely because I bought a cheapo car cover (before I got my targas fixed) that scratched all the paint above the wheelarches. Anyway, I could not believe the transformation - I'd forgotten what brilliant stuff T-Cut was! The paint looks a million times better now - as anyone with a black car knows - it looks great when it's wet, but then dries a slightly lighter shade and looses it's shine. But not anymore! Really pleased and will probably delay a respray another 12 months or so (there are still a few areas where even the T-Cut couldn't help). I'd put some pictures up, but the weather is piss poor again - so when the suns out I'll get on it. Peach - if you read this buddy, I need some help with my alloys now - as they're letting the show down!! Drop me a PM if you have any free time coming up! Anyway, the car looks as well as it goes now! Cannot tell you how nice it was to get behind the wheel and put my foot down again! Happy days!
  6. That's not a dog - its a fookin horse! Bet your postman loves him!! At least you have a genuine reason for not paying bills on time now! You havn't had a bill in 2 years! Lovely lookin beast!
  7. I wouldn't buy a fixed back seat mate. You only find out how comfy a seat is after 6 hours behind the wheel (and normally the morning after too!). If you find out its uncomfortable - you're screwed. You can get some really supportive seats without them being the full bucket type - they're probably not as light as a proper bucket - but you have more chance of getting the perfect driving position. I would only buy a bucket if I was gonna regularly track a car. Just my opinion mind..
  8. Awww no mate, Thats bloody terrible. I cannot imagine how pissed off I would be. You put all your time and effort into something then one act of stupidiity by someone else erases your hard work in a matter of milliseconds :censored: I hope they don't write it off - but if the insurance company have a good understanding of the mods and value of your car, then it shouldn't be hard to convince them it can be repaired economically. Good luck getting it sorted and if you can manage to get a wide arch kit out of it, then good on ya - that's your real compensation!
  9. The response to this thread has given me some hope for humanity. If they try it in Leicester, the little sods better be ready to deal with the consequences.
  10. end of problem. One for you.. one for you... fook it, you can have 2.. :2guns:
  11. Nuts! Really wanted to go to one of these. Having seen Dave's pictures from the last few I was really impressed. Unfortunately, I'm flying back in the morning and won't be back in time. Nuts, nuts, nuts. And the weather is going to be crap. Double nuts :mad2: But then again, i could always have a play on a quiet industrial estate somewhere
  12. Exactly. And what happens when these useless feckers have over populated our country in the name of more benefits? There will be fewer of us soft arses to pay for them, so we'll all have to work twice as hard to keep the work shy, feckless, soap dodging scum in their 6 bedroom houses that they haven't had to work for. Only thing to do is start taking them out - quickly :gun_bandana:
  13. Top bloke! Shame you don't still have the zed, this club needs people like you Sir!
  14. How can it be that our government fails so chronically to represent the views of the masses? All the decent folk are made to suffer in silence while these yobs toss it off - all at our expense. And still nothing will happen.
  15. I don't understand.. Are you saying you were unhappy with the service you recieved? I think you could have made your point a little clearer! If I were a Job Bot, I'd chuck your letter in the bin - just to piss you off! You're appealling to a firm who couldn't really give a toss about their customers, they have so many of you now, a few angry ones doesn't matter.:cursing: Good luck with it bud, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I can think of very few companies (especially large ones) that offer any semblence of customer service these days.
  16. Well, Cameron's speech has convinced me that they haven't got a set of balls between them. What use is 16,000 policemen, if they can't use reasonable force? I don't believe for a minute that justice will be done - its bullschit. Time for a new government
  17. I've just seen that video on the BBC website. These are the people who should be fookin shot. I cannot imagine these people will ever contribute anything to society, yet they will be propped up by decent, hard-working folks, so they can then rob and steal from us. US! Why the fook do we put up with this?
  18. Fook the water cannon - fight fire with fire! Soak em in petrol and set them alight - that's what the little feckers were trying to do to the police.
  19. Baked bean tin (empty, obviously!), exhaust weld paste, 2 jubilee clips = fixed exhaust. Maybe I should have asked - anyone in the midlands area with a car that works?
  20. Spineless Britain. Makes me sick. 100's have been arrested (as quoted on BBC website)! ..and will probably be released without charge, or will go to court where the case will be rejected on lack of evidence.. In the highly unlikely event of a prosecution, the culprit will be detained for 1 month in a juvenile prison and forced to play playstation all day while he learns about the best way to rob cash machines and jack cars. Yeah, the UK is awesome. Impotent police. A rediculous judicial system that protects the guilty and a custody system that molly coddles criminals. No fookin wonder every immigrant and his dog wanna come here. Its out of control.
  21. T-bullet (man in a can!) Before T-Bullet After T-Bullet Before T-Bullet After T-Bullet
  22. I couldn't tell you, but I'd hazard a guess it was something do do with scaling up from km/h. 20km/h is nowt really, when you think about it - so there was probably little reason to have a speedo that was accurate to much less than that (although, if you're going to do a job, you may as well do it properly, eh?). The 100mph thing is obviously some gremlin from the old speed restrictor, but its never bothered me - I don't really pay much attention to the speedo, unless I'm in a 30/40mph limit.
  23. Try and seek an amicable solution - as its difficult to rectify if things turn sour.. But as mentioned above, your deeds will state where the boundary is. Providing they are on their land, they are well within their rights to stick up a fence 6ft high. Even if it is a stupid idea. Photos would help, tell them you're just taking a few pictures to send to your solicitors.. They'll probably think twice about robbing any of your drive then. Edit: just seen the pic... probably best if you buy a shotgun and get it over with quickly, a 6ft fence will fook things right up.
  24. Had mine done at Zedworld  One small point - when you go over 100, the needle drops all the way back to zero then pings straight back to the correct speed (so I've been told). :whistling: Also, its not much use below 20mph (so I've been told)
