  1. have you actually done the stem seal test??? car up to running temp drive car in second to about 3500 - 4000 or higher if you want then leave car in gear and come right off the gas let car decel. to about 2500 -2000 then boot it ..... and look in rear view mirror smoke ????? running the motor up like that causes some pressure build up in the bottom end this then pushes the oil past the old hard stem seals down the guides and into the cylinder hence the smoke when you boot it its the oil getting burnt off. there will be a nice cloud of blue smoke if there knackered cvh fords do it the heat from the motor slowly hardens the seals untill they seal no more also crap oil can do this...
  2. my car has a stillen hicas eliminator and a nice braided hose to by pass the rear rack my question is this... in the manual it goes on about bleeding the rear rack with the two bolts on the top ive got the rack i can see this but..... now on the car there are no bleed points for the rear so do i just bleed out the front rack the normal way and leave the rear to self bleed if it will do it ?? or do i bleed the front then crack the unions on the rear and try to bleed out the rear... ive got no probs with any of the steering system... im just changing the fluid as ive recently got the car

  5. take to starter out and shove a big flat blade in to the ring gear go on you know it make sense !!! :slap:
  6. try colder plug like a seven or is it the other way round shit i cant remember i had this on my cav turbo went from a six heat range to a 8 and that cured my melting plugs but one thing i did know with the cav the mixture was spot *****ck so maybe you got fuelling issues (plugs melted due to high combustion chamber temps ie lean)

  10. changed mine yesterday piece a cake just get new pipes aswell old ones were stuck closed with old sticky oil
  11. plugs are expensive got mine (NGK) 45 set of six nissan quoted me 68 + vat

  13. sorry but being an ex turbo vauxhall owner the similarities between the vxl carlton and the lotus carlton was just cosmetic the whole car was re engineered byt lotus all vxl did was cut holes in the bonnet and sent it to lotus lotus re-engineered the whole lot the mota lots of forged bits, suspension with revised mounting points to improve geometry the floor pans arent even the same aswell as the rear axle its the only std four door family saloon thatll see the naughty side of 180 still saving for one thats my ultimate practical car. cheap to 18 - 20k go down to frosts in shoreham theres 3 owned buy the show room staff and parts staff look for the one with carbon-carbon brakes its got over 640 hp yoou get iver 500 from chip air filter and zorst there 380 hp 400+ lbft std an aboslutely stunning car in its own right people who say its a glorified taxi should have there balls cut off and stuck in there gobs to shut them up long live the lotus carlton !!!!!

  15. ive got to get one of them just for peace of mind if nothing else cav turbo really suffered boot the *****cks off it and within litterally 2 mins the temp guage went up by 10degs whuup the ass of it like i did down the m23 (160 By the way uhh herm officer :x: :D :D wanted to run it off the clock but ran out of road ) then the oil temp was 110 and water was just coming up to 100 - 105 ooops :rofl: that really did need a rad upgrade but that was £475 these zed things are cheaper !!!!!!!
  16. Theres not that many boost hoses i went over mine today found both turbo outlet pipes had been leaking for a while light ammount of oil on the pipes where they join aswell as some of the intercooler pipes just nipped them up
  17. positive its the ring gear as i stuck it i 1st rolled the car a couple of inches to turn over motor and it was fine i had a senaky feeling it had a few teeth missing as the starters engaged with a crunch on more than a few times
  18. whos some pics of a wings west front end then ive seen some of there other stuff ie an accord and it was awesome
  19. i do hope so ive known a couple of flywheels to have the ring gear as one part the teeth have been just hardened still gotta get starter motor and have the box n flywheel off ahh loverly job this time of year
  20. went to start car this morning and got that loverly ive got loads of teeth missing from my ring gear noise... are the flywheel and ring gear one piece or can you cut the old one off and replace it (ive done a load of pinto ones before so this isnt a prooblem)
  21. ahh starion turbos still like them the wide arches make them look well tough used to a red one up my road but its gone now nice mota did very well as a grp a rally car
  22. the production finninsh on these engines and the scoobies is awesome just like its been ported and polished by hand but they aint the ports on the scoobies ive seen they have no restriction on the exhaust side you can seee the whole back of the valve thru the port and very little restriction on the inlet
