ubuntu has all root features disabled for security reasons. You wont be able to do it, unless you chown the /var/www to your own account.

peerguardian only blocks a few known addresses, most of which are harmless, not to mention some of the fastest seeders. Doesn't really offer any security at all.

vista offers no performance increase over XP, quite the opposite actually. I ran it for a while, instant search and aero are nice touches, but theres a massive performance hit from XP.
