Zed-fest 06
Don't worry about the weather. I have had a word with Big G and he says it'll be ok. I'm going to pop round to His house tomorrow just to remind Him! This will hopefully be the UK's biggest meeting of Z's so let's make a great weekend of it. There will be some traders there. There is plenty of room for more and all are welcome. I am organising a fun team sports event which i am sure the Z Club will win! Teams of 4 persons for some interesting motor - related sports. Not too taxing and no water involved (unless it rains). As many teams as possible to make it really entertaining. BTW please remember to bring your own chairs! (can't find a tongue in cheek smiley) Look forward to seeing you all

some one help me here
You are asking a lot of the 'wrong' questions here. If you are concerned about the cost of repairs / fuel then this car is not for you. Bear in mind that they are getting old and old things break. There are a lot of mingas out there. You've only got to look on ebay and autotrader to see the variety available. Maybe consider a n/a instead of a TT or look at the cars for sale on this forum. They have been looked after by enthusiasts and should represent good value for money. Go to some local meets and see the quality of the cars on display, you can then compare them with the Autotrader tat.

I am willing to stand corrected on this but from what I remember both plates have to comply with British Standard. They must be stamped BSAU145 followed by a letter relating to the relevant version of the standard when they were manufactured. This is usually stamped into the clear plastic on the front of the plate. If your plates were made as 'show plates' by an unlicensed manufacturer they probably won't have this mark and despite the fact that they comply in size to the regulations they won't be 'road legal'. As a retired copper (20+ years on traffic) I sympathise with your feelings. When I was on the job we had discretion and were able to 'caution' motorists for minor offences. This does not appear to be the case today. Due to greater public accountability this discretion has been taken away. To judge whether he's doing his job correctly some greater arsehole counts up the tickets he's issued and if he hasn't written enough he's in trouble. Performance related pay may be involved in this. Your performance cannot be measured by the amount of *****ckings or 'advice' you dish out. I know there are serving officers on this site who may be able to correct me if I'm wrong. A few years ago a traffic cop would probably have stopped you and complemented you on having a great car. Not so today I'm afraid.

Disgraceful way to treat a Police dog
If the dog is to be sold then surely in the interests of the Gwent Taxpayers the Vendors must accept the highest price for him. The selling price must be a matter of public record, if some one / group / organisation were to make a higher offer for the dog then this must be accepted

Zed-fest 06
It would now be nice to know who's intending to come so I can make arrangements for catering etc. If you could list your names in the usual way it would be helpful, thanks

Disgraceful way to treat a Police dog
As a Retired Police Officer I am appalled by this but not in the least surprised. Increasingly Police forces are over reacting to public safety, PC and financial issues. My own force is at present reviewing officers pensions and threatening to slash them at a whim in order to save money. I have sent my e-mail in an effort to save the dog. I also feel the need to question that when a firearms officer fails to qualify will he be sent back on 'normal duties' allowed to retire or will he be disposed of in a similar manner to that proposed for this dog? Perhaps we are too humane to do that yet, but what of the future?

sharm el sheikh advice
Apparently you can take a trip up mount Sinaii to watch the sunrise. It's well worth the journey but a very long trip by crappy bus at night so take plenty of water and do accept the ride up the mountain on a camel as it's a very long hard walk . When you've watched it you have to be very quick going down the other side of the mountain which is very steep and no camel ride. If you're not quick enough you get fried by the sun. then it's the bus ride back in the heat & you're knackered. do it because you probably wont go again.

Thoresby 2006
The whole Jap part of the show was a joke. The MC bloke had no idea of what was going on most of the time. I spent a fair bit of time on the Ford site and the MC there was really slick. The whole thing was a lot better organised with categories for every type of Ford. Only two or three entries in some classes but he really did it well. Plus it was a shady area and a lot cooler.

Revenge Of The Poo Collectors!
Did anyone else see 'Life of Grime' on Tuesday nights telly. Two Glasgow Council enforcement officers were keeping observations on an alleyway where people habitually walked their dogs, let them poo and didn't clean up the mess. Down the alley comes a Traffic Warden, lights up a crafty fag and when he's finished chucks his dog-end down in full view of the camera. The intrepid enforcers are overjoyed at some action and pursue the Trasffic Warden who clearly doesn't want to be caught. They eventually detain him and serve him with a fixed penalty notice and he gets quite unpleasant, refusing to accept it until they threated to tell his boss. The enforcement bloke signs off the prograsmme giving his name and qualifying himself as 'Champion of Britains Oppressed Motorists' Top Man, whoever he was.
