The great insurance thread 2009!
I came away from a classic car policy this year and insured it as a second car with Admiral, 43, UK manual all mods declared and was £187 for a 5000 mls limit. it means I can now use the car to comute if I want something that classic dosent usually allow, plus Im now gonna build up no claims on it as well!

On my journey home today I came up against this beauty
Couple of weeks back, returning home from our last meet I came up behind one. He launched it coming out of a 30 he was quick but I wasnt left too far behind. the next village exit was at 50 and I was ready this time, sure he was pulling away from me but not at the rate id expected. Further up the road was a different matter though! he floored it going round a double round about. f~ck me it was like something out of Tron Ive never seen anything go round corners like it, boy they can really handle. I didnt even try or id still be spinning yet.

the car you should have kept
When all my mates had xr3's xr4's and Mantas, I went for a MK2 Supra just to be different, It was a great car and well kitted out for its time. had it for 5 years before trading it in for next to nothing. wish id had space at the time and I would have kept it! Werent many about back then, and must be like rocking horse poo now. Cant find any pics of mine, but it was one of these.

taking car off road.
Others might dissagree on my comments about parking up cars, it's just my experience and findings over the years. What cars deffinately dont like is being parked in damp conditions, it takes no time for any exposed metal to develop surface rust and alloy components end up with a powdery coating. Its up to you whether you want to fire oil down the spark plug holes, I wouldnt bother, though it could be good for fumigatting the garage when you first start the engine. A cover would be handy to help prevent paint damage, somebody is sure to bump against it or drop something on it. Puting it on stands will help prevent the tyres from develping flat spots.

taking car off road.
Although it isnt ideal, as long as its in a dry garage it should be ok, I had mine of the road for over a year and just started the engine evey couple of months. Apart from the flat battery it started first time everytime and hasnt missed a beat since. Years ago a I worked at a garage next to a new car storage compound, it wasnt uncommon for cars back then to sit in the field for a couple of years before being sold as new :). probably best to ensure your oil is fresh, old oil will have a lot of acid contaminents from the combustion proccess which wont be good for the engine and make sure anti freeze is up to strength, if its too week it speeds up corrosion.

Chatelherault Classic Automobile Rally 2009
Tam I already took the liberty of entering your car But!!!! and its a big but :( The show is off!, Ive had a call from the organisers today. Apparently it clashed with some other show so they pulled the plug. It a real shame because this has produced the most interest in an event in Scotland for ages. We can still organise something for the day, I will look around for a suitable alternative.

Sound proofing the zed
I had much the same thoughts with the doors. Tightened up the window runners to stop the rattles and sprayed the insides with cavity wax. It sounds far better closing the door now.

Brake Kit anyone??
Nice brakes, lot of dosh though! and no way i'd spend that when you could buy a car with decent brake upgrades for the same. Also in the third pic down theres what looks like a fracture in the disc centre section, could just be a mark but id certainly want to see it up close before buying.
