Sub Frame Bushes
Has anyone had any experience of the Driftworks bushes, they are a fair bit cheaper than the powerflex and superflex equivalents and ideally looking for bushes that it isnt required to leave part of the old bush casings in when fitting them.

Anyone not doing anything tomorrow?
Sorry Andy, I expect to be cleaning up my subframe tomorrow morning and have family coming down later so cant make any meets this weekend

modified zx insurance
Yep i'm with Admiral as well and can vouch for them, though I am on a multi car policy and have a daily driver. I'm sure the Z was about £240 as a second car with none of the restrictions that classic insurance normally has. Being an old git (46) does help a bit as well :).

FOA SandyZ
Thanks for getting back Sandy, I'll give you a call later this week though I doubt whether I'll be able to get across this weekend

Agreed they are strongly built, but this one is gonna take a lot of work to tidy up. The corrosion is so bad the strengthening ribs on the top have just crumbled away. My plan is to clean up and paint the subframe and suspension I don't want a scabby diff spoiling it. Saying that you can't see the top when its on the car so I may just clean it up and give it a lick of paint as you suggest.

De-cat friendly MOT tester
lol, would they test my Z with the back axle out of it then? In all seriousness to the original post though, you really shouldn't put requests for information on a public forum that could get someone in a whole heap of shit, and possibly cost them their livelyhood........ you never know who is on here

Sandy, just pulled the rear subframe out of my car and found the top of the diff casing is badly corroded, do you still have the diff in the breaker and if so is it in decent nick.

De-cat friendly MOT tester
Apparent obligatory sarcastic smiley that all the "up themselves" folk seem to be using in here. lol yep might be a bit up myself as you put it, but the smiley was genuine, I really was smiling when I sent the post. I guess just the same as you were doing in your post prior to that, or are you admitting to being up yourself too?

De-cat friendly MOT tester
But if you do find a "de-cat friendly tester" drop me a line as I'd be very very interested in finding out all about it :)

General MOT question - ABS
ABS warning lamp has been part of the test for years, it's not just been added with the new regs. As has already been said it's likely the bulb has been removed because of a fault in the system.

Not had the best bank holiday lol
Holy shit Del that looks bad. Glad your ok, as has been said cars can be replaced people cant.

Looking good for tomorrow
Cracking looking car. I do love a white Z, but then I may be a wee bit biased. Nice emblem on the reg plates as well :)

Aint it Zinger Time Yet
It's off season for sheep at the moment. Most of them have just dropped lambs and will take a bit time to heal up and the lambs are just so small theyre likely to burst. So gonna give them a mis for a couple of months. I am however planning on going out for a walk in the hills this afternoon to answer your question. Good to hear your getting your car sorted, and whats wrong with the wheels you have ? do you just fancy a change.

Aint it Zinger Time Yet
Shouldnt nappy changing duties be mentioned in there as well :)

Aint it Zinger Time Yet
Nope it's still tucked away and its looking like its going to be May before I put it back on the road. I want to remove and clean up the rear subframe but not sure I'm going to have the time, plus Ive got my sisters old car sitting on the drive until I can get it sold, so stuck for space. Did you get your car painted then?

Aint it Zinger Time Yet
Ok we will see what the rest of the lads come back with

Aint it Zinger Time Yet
Isnt it about time for a wee mini meet, anyone up for the old favourite meeting haunt sometime in April before the season kicks in and we all end up rushing about everywhere for the really big meets :clown:

how much you pay!!
Just be wary of the 300ml to a tank quotes, yes the cars can get that quite easily, mine has on quite a few occasions. This does tend to be on longer runs though on open roads, if you are running the car as a daily driver in towns and doing lots of short journeys then I would expect the mpg to drop considerably.

Congratulations :)

HID Kit
Dont think the info you were given was quite right, infact it was utter bull, it's the new MOT inspection criteria that comes into force sometime April 2012, it's nothing to do with the year of registration of the cars. HID's have never been legal to retro fit but they were never an MOT failure point. They still wont be, but the ancillary systems around them will be (from April). The big problem is going to be the old bill, they do not work to MOT standards but construction & use, they can take action if the lights don't comply, which unless you have forked out a couple of grand on 99 specs they won't.

Tyres softener
Never seen this before either and have got to say I would advise against its use for road tyres. There has to be a real danger of the tyre structure being seriously weakened with incorrect application. Even with only the tread area in contact with the road being affected the life of the tyre must be reduced considerably.
