1. See the Online service manual (Bookmark it - http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi)
2. Go for the SWB then. Lighter, less flex, nimbler, quicker. If you think you might get serious about track work, then may want to consider the Slicktop version (non targa), even rarer, but lighter and stiffer again, plus meets FIA rules, which the Targa does not. If not then the targa model is easier to find and is nice for the summer. btw - when looking at different models, the quickest and easiest way to see if its LWB or SWB is the fuel filler flap locaiton. On the SWB its forward of the Rear wheel (see my sig) , and for the LWB is it behind the rear wheel.
3. Redo it with charged battery. You also really want to run it cold and warm, and with and without a few drops of oil down the plug hole. If you still get low results then its worth running a Leak down test, after the compression test - to determine the source of the compression lost. Low compression can be down to more than just Head gaskets; ie. Pistons, Bores, Rings and Valves.
4. P38 Range Rover 2.5TD. A MUCH nicer 4x4 to drive than any of its era, and its adjustable pneumatic height suspension makes hooking up trailers a breeze, and the Bmw Diesel engine has plenty of grunt for towing.
5. I could argue the point of buying a high performance sports car and then filling it with shit loads of MDF and speakers ....but instead I'll point out that the SWB has a much deeper boot, more suitable for ICE installs ;) I think they did, nearly double the amount of SWB's to LWB's in the U.S (by far the biggest sales market for the Z). The 2+2 was more popular in Japan though and the only version made available in Europe, which makes the swb a rarer sight on our shores.
6. I sent a SWB Tailgate to Portugal. It was 35kg with Glass and OEM spoiler..
7. I didnt want to asnwer this, for fear of being called a Geek....but its a Kaminari. Not particularly rare (except in the UK I guess), available through Z1. Side skirts and front and rear bumpers are also Kaminari. Wheels are BBS Le Mans.
8. BBS LeMans. very desirable wheel for the Z
9. Nope, Still not had any snow here this year.
10. lol my thoughts exactly
11. If it was truly a full tank (72 litres) then thats only 19 mpg.
12. Depending on the year and model the loom may even be in place already. Most z's come as standard with electric seats (electric drivers pre 92, electric drivers and passenger 92 -95. Optional from 95 onwards and on Slicktops and some very early 89 models. If the loom and connectors are not there, then you just need to wire in a positive feed from a good source. Personally I would wire it direct in from the Battery using a thick gauge cable and Fused. The motors draw a fair bit of current so don't go connecting it up to any small gauge existing feeds.
13. lots and lots posts about manual vs auto performance. Anyone that says that the auto is quicker is wrong though. The only thing the auto is off the line is consistent, the only way its quicker is if the Manual driver makes a balls up of the launch.
14. Click for bigger (well a little bigger)
15. The little black box on the left of Clarkeys pic, about the size of a small box of matches - Thats your Stock boost gauge sender. The feed is on the underside, and it will take a feed from the plenum balance bar.
16. Shweeeett ! nice one Lee, Thanks.
17. Happy Birthday Richard :happybday:
18. Dammit Kevin Costner, you had one job! One job!
19. Its a shame it happened yesterday....Heart FM are playing all her hits Today!
20. I know its difficult when quoting for small companies, but as Alex said, thats WAY too low ! Don't be afraid to ask the sort of money the services deserve, its a specialized skill and it commands a premium. I used to charge £40 per hour for small jobs, and entire site redesigns were package prices, but always £500+ and thats if they provided the textual content, company logo's ..etc Once your talking Functionality and database integration then you can get way into 4 digit figures.
21. yeh, it was in my rides......rides is gone :( I'll fix it eventually.
22. Dirty girl ! Agreed, yours is better. I would be worried too......its a sign of whats to come when designing the actual site for them. They have no comprehension of how much time and effort is involved in webdesign and will turn out to be far more trouble than its worth with constant emails to change this and that. Either pull out now, or increase your prices and make sure every detail is in writing before you do any work for them.
23. For the downpipe/decats were fine since all the same (even if sellers dont realise and list as 2+2 only)... , but finding Catback SWB exhausts in the UK is a big problem. Nobody makes them or sells them, unless you go custom. 2nd hand is the most viable option(from those that come over from Japan), but even then its a rarity. The other option is to buy from the States. Any 300zx exhaust listed for the TT is a SWB exhaust in the U.S
24. SWB's have the H-pipe / X-pipe (mid section) too, although some aftermarket exhausts may integrate the mid section and backboxes into one. Its not a difference of missing sections, its a completely different route the pipes take after the cat back, Essentially : Front half of exhaust is same. Catback is all different.
