Anyone in Somerset??
Advert says he has only owned it a month so unlikely anyone would know it in somerset and could be from anywhere. Looks good for the price though.

Wheel whores unite! I need some advice.
Bear in mind the usual widearch kits (strosek and Abflug) are only 60mm wider.

Wheel whores unite! I need some advice.
They will extend 85mm outside of the arch.
-
anyone know
Its because the tyre profile is a percentage of the width, not an actual measurement. The rear tyres are wider so you run a smaller percentage profile to keep a similar diameter to the fronts.

Silverstone wash out
Im getting somewhat concerned... I'm competing at Silverstone next week, and meant to be camping at the circuit from Wednesday to Sunday.

Who is nearest Z specialist to me?
That link defaults to U.S MPG. US Gallons are smaller than UK gallons. 20mpg U.S is about 24 mpg UK. 18-22mpg seems fairly common as an average by most peoples standards on here. The car will do high 20's even into the 30's on long motorway runs, but will easily drop to low teens in town or if your having a lot of fun. If your experiencing abnormally low mpg, then a blowing exhaust will not be the cause, but for basic jobs like that you don't need a specialist, any good garage will do.

Work for free? would you ?
You need to access the market exposure you will get from free advertising. Your effectively providing sponsorship to the event. I deal with a lot of companies in regards to Sponsorship for our Race Team and its quite surprising just how generous many companies will be supplying materials and parts at reduced rates or free of charge in exchange for their logo on your car, equipment and website. Push for as much advertising as you can get of them - space for a large sign, your company logo details on any Publications related to the event - Website, Booklets, magazines...etc But then if your booked up as it is, and not looking to expand then its not really going to be worth it.

Help finding front and rear discs for 91 NA needed :)
The TT and NA front brakes are Identical from 91 onwards ! To check for sure that yours has the You need to check the disc thickness. 30mm=TT 26mm =NA The rears are the same for TT and NA for all years.

Automatic vs manual
The ESS Kit that Ryan posted is made specifically for the 300zx autobox only. All it effectively does is each time you tap the Paddle shift it It sends a signals to the Autobox ECU to tell it to shift gear for you. I didnt know they were still available though. They stopped making them years ago, but perhaps they have restarted again as that Cobalt gauge in the picture is a relatively new design. The 6speed 350z box has has the same top gear ratio as the z32 manual, but with the rest of the gears closer together. It offers no real performance benefit and is known to be weaker than the Z32 box.

Automatic vs manual
Were talking about stock. What they are using is what is often refered to as a 'Fastroad' rebuild, with Uprated TQ. The box is rebuilt, with stronger bands and runs Increased pressure. (Possibly with different ratios, purely for 1/4 mile dragging). They then preload the box on the start line to build boost with a 4500+rpm launch. Its the same reason dragsters run specially designed 3speed autoboxes, designed purely for 1/4 mile drag racing and nothing else.

Automatic vs manual
There really is'nt anything to debate. You can prefer one transmission over another, but the fact is the Manual is faster than the auto.
-
Automatic vs manual
Something wrong there if you found the Auto quicker and were dissapointed after converting, no matter what the condition of your auto was. I would suggest checking for problems - Vacumn leaks, safety mode. I have worked approx 20-25 Z Manual conversions, and every-time the difference before and after is very noticeable, and the owners were always overjoyed with the performance difference.
-
Automatic vs manual
The Auto is slower in all scenario's. It has less power, more weight and higher losses. The difference is less in a simple straight line drag race, but is exaggerated in the real world, mostly due to the slippy Torque convertor, where you have lots of acceleration changes - Corners, roundabouts, overtaking ..etc

front calipers
Its common for 89-90 NA owners to swap to TT brakes so they can source replacement Discs/Pads easier. Thats not the case with a new NA like yours, as after 91 they are all the same. They look different as I suspect you replaced them with the older Aluminium version (same discs, pads and fitment, just different material and the casting looks different..ie Fins)

Need to get something off my chest...!
-
front calipers
Straight swap, although there is no benefit unless yours require a refurbish (sticking pistons..etc , very common) Its only the 89-90 NA that has different brakes than the TT. (26mm wide discs, rather than 30mm) From 91 onwards the NA and TT used identical brakes.

Thoughts on mr2 turbo?
Your best bet is to go look at one, take it for a test drive to see if its right for you.

Zed Engine Advice
Found a guy on TT.net rolling with 332,000 miles on his Slicktop NA with original engine !

Zed Engine Advice
Its entirely about how well its been looked after There are quite a few on the U.S Z forums driving around with over 250k miles on original engine and turbos. :thumbup1: At the same time, a number of Z's have required engine rebuilds and turbo replacement under 100k miles.

Thoughts on mr2 turbo?
Car and Driver magazine recorded 0-60 in 5.0 secs dead in a Standard TT SWB Manual. Although most other recorded times, especially with the LWB are around 5.5-5.7. I did the same as Paul, recoded my 0-60 using Nissan Datascan before and after boost increase. I went from 5.7 secs stock, to 4.6 seconds with a LWB TT Manual. The 0-100 dropped by nearly 3 seconds. If you have/get a SWB/Slicktop then its potentially even quicker still. The Auto is a little slower, around half a second standard, but Im sure we have some Auto TT owners here under 5 seconds with minimal mods.

jelous i think
At first I thought... "is that it? he's missing quite a few Z books" ..........then I scrolled down to everything else  Damn !

Thoughts on mr2 turbo?
You know that the Z is about 5 secs 0-60 ? , and for about £100 for a ECU chip and boost increase they are around 4.5 secs 0-60 with much longer legs than the mr2. The Mr2 turbo is a great little car though. The Earlier models were famed for being a bit wild on the limit, but handling was improved in later models. Most people are'nt aware of the Turbo version and may just mistake you for a typical mr2 driving hairdresser :tongue_smilie: Same engine as used in the Celica GT-Four which is another to consider, Not as lightweight as the Mr2 but 4wd Traction.
