Did it seem mechanical or electrical ? If you could hear clunking and it would travel slowly then tis mechanical. Othewise electrical and is probably the little black box behind the door card called the window regulator.

Its not going to be the chip either. Providing your running Higher octane fuel in it, then its getting detonation becuase something else is'nt right. Have your timing and Fuel pressure checked.

I agree, that was one of my favoute Z's in the UK. However if you dont to the whole top half black then it just looks like you have the wrong coloured bonnet on your car

I've seen cheap silicon hoses like these used before....you could see them sucking in under vacumn, so they must of been expanding loads under boost.

Yes, thats normal. Oil pressure will be higher when cold and lower when warm. It will also rise and fall with rpm. Ofcourse depends on exactly what oil pressure readings your getting, but the stock gauge is not accurate.

Get your Fuel pressure and Timing checked. Its quite common for people to advance the timing on NA's for a bit of extra power, but too far will cause detonation. You would also have to be running Higher octane fuel if this is the case.

An NA Zed is comparable to a stock S14a in performance (I used to have an NA Manual and a friend had a '99 s14a). Although turbos always make a car "feel" quicker and are a lot more tuneable ofcourse. Auto NA's are noticeably slower than Manual NA's though. I guess you really just need to drive it yourself to see what you think.

The Knock sensor is under the plenums inbetween the 2 heads at the back of the engine and is not accessible without several hours of labour stripping the top down to get to it. The connector is at the back of the plenum in the centre. A grey 2 pin plug. But if you search for "code34" or "knock sensor" you should find more info and pics.
