  1. Happy Birthday. 2 weeks ago according to your profile ?
  2. 600hp on a freshly rebuilt stock motor, in optimum condition with perfect mapping, yeh you should be able to get a dyno run out of it and who knows how many trouble-free miles before problems are encountered...a few have done it in the states. ....but if your using a 15yr+ old motor or if you get a hint of detonation then its Bye Bye engine.
  3. The stuff in builders/plumbing supplies can handle the heat ?
  4. tbh, i reckon that would be very hard to sell on once repaired. You can get them for 60k Cat D means nothing, but people spending 50-60k on a car are'nt going to touch one with Damage history. They would typically only buy a new car, and so would expect whatever car they buy to be as new. They depreciate so quickly. 20k+ a year in depreciation.
  5. Putting aside potential cooling issues, swapping to a viscous setup is probably the worst bang for buck upgrade there is, meaning you get the lowest power increase per cost than any other power modifications. Several hundred pounds for a trivial increase. Your looking at a 1kg drivetrain weight saving, which is where any potential power and response improvements come from. Compare that to a Lightweight pulley, which is WAY more effective as its reduced weight saves around 5kg. or a lightweight flywheel, which saves around 7kg.
  6. Something very unique about your Mr2 Nick, thats nearly Turbo version pace. The NA's are far from quick in standard form. 0-60 is closer 8 secs.
  7. about 15kg heavier without Torque convertor, and around 30kg heavier with it.
  8. I thought you wanted something you could drift, according to other thread ? In which case you can forget the calibra and the MR2. That leaves the two Bmw's, and the more powerfull 325 is obviously going to be the best of the 2.
  9. Straight forward job that takes a couple of minutes. No you dont remove plenum, the fuel pipes run above it next to the balance bar. There is a small piece of fuel pipe that you can optionally replace that is under the throttle linkage at the front centre of the plenum, but you still dont remove the plenum if you wish to replace this piece.
  10. yes,. I've had this issue too. Its nothing to do with him being an International buyer. They do that now for Sellers without a high feedback rating (the satisfaction survey part - which buyers optionally fill in when they leave you feedback) on certain high-risk items - Such as Car parts, electrical parts, Computer parts. Its really annoying....typically your selling an item becuase you need the money now
  11. I've owned a Mk1 MK2 and Mk2 MR2 Rev2 (thats a confusing sentence to read lol). The Mk1 was sooo much more fun than the Mk2, but both were slow and the handling is ermm..Interesting. I used to own a ST185 GT-Four as well, a better car than the Mr2. None are comparable or in the same league as a Z though.
  12. In reality the price does not guarantee or even indicate condition. There are a LOT of bad examples out there, some dead cheap, some pricey. Prices vary wildy for the Z and you can easily buy a tidy Example for 2k and a right old dog for 4k. Knowledge is key, view the cars well prepared. NEVER buy the first example without viewing others. View as many as you can before selecting the best one. The way they drive and perform, and the general feel of each differs immensely. Look through the buyers guide. If your not mechanically minded or well experienced then take somebody that is, and even better a Z enthusiast who has owned and been around other Z's.
  13. Manual conversion "kits" used to typcially fetch around 700, but more like 500 these days. Labour wise your looking at 500-700 at most garages. Bear in mind that the Kits are all used, and while the majority of parts are not suspect to the usual wear and tear, the clutch in particular is. Its worth investing in a new clutch at the same time which would set you back anything from 200-500, depending on what clutch you go for.
  14. Thats what all those taiglate tubs have for rear windows. Remember Yami's ? Bit of perspex glued onto the inside. They are such a nasty modification, with all the raw fibreglass matting showing on the inside too.
  15. nice one, I bet that feels great. Im kind of in the same situation myself, cant wait to actually be able to drive the thing. Is your current prop from Coz too ?
  16. Yes it probably uses a tiny bit of HP to do so, but Its a far better setup than an electric setup, as it adjusts its speed according to engine temp. So at low temps it spins slowly, and if the car gets hotter the faster it spins. It means that once engine reaches optimum temp it does'nt really ever go above it. It will push 6000cfm on full chat if required, most electric cans will only push about 2000cfm. With an electric setup the temp is consantly going up and down as the fan goes on and off continuously trying to keep the engine within a certain temp range and they struggle to cool the engine enough if there are any problems. I've seen electric kits such as those supplied by Zcentre and they are woefully inadequate at keeping the engine cool. They also use power when they are on. More hassle for a less inefficient fan setup, just to save a tiny amount of power. The cooling performance is far more important imo
  17. The same fitment, yes. The spring rates are marginally firmer on the TT, unsure about the damping rates, probably the same.
  18. no, they were all fitted with Viscous fans becuase they are better.
  19. They'll be fitting you a UK screen then. They are readily available and much cheaper than a JDM screen. They are tinted blue rather than bronze and better looking imo. If the guy takes 5hrs to fit it then he need to find a new job !
  20. I've driven and worked on a couple. Very modern car feel, remind me of a Ford focus but a bit cheap on the inside. Performance is fine, but not as impressive as a Z32.
  21. Kaminari would be my top choice. I like my Impuls too.
  22. The Handbrake shoes are very thin and not cheap. Absolutely no need to touch the handbrake to get the rear sideways in a Z. If you were to get into drifting seriously with the Z, then you'd fit a Hydraulic Handbrake.
