N Z R !! what do you think
Get rid of the full stop after "beaches", replace it with a comma and don't capitalize the "Between" that follows. Get rid of the comma after the first "mystery" and consider whether you really need two "mystery"s in consecutive sentences. Apart from that, it's very good :)

Long distance funeral
Sorry to hear of your loss.

whats your ultimate car
For everyday usage, a McLaren F1 or that Merc SLR 600bhp thing. For a work of art to look at and not use, a Lambo Countach 5000 LP.

At last!!
Absolutely not :) Good to see a non-smoker talking some sense. 2nd hand smoke doesn't do much except upset non-smokers, but 2nd hand alcohol quite often causes death. Why isn't there more done about that? Because it's not trendy to complain about like passive smoking is.

New turbos and thanks to Ztech
Put simply, Dave, they weren't!

who remembers:
BigRoy, I think you're talking about Tracy Emin? That Oliver Reed clip really makes me cringe. And the best Reed drunk singing/Wild Thing was on "Des O'Connor Tonight".

Sorry Dave - not trying to get at you (I think you're doing a good job) - just trying to offer different solutions.

Meets
North of the M4 is not Bristol, just the outlying 'burbs. But anyway, all the Bristol meets this year have been south of the M4. Dave, I'm disappointed that you'd use that trick - I know you are cleverer than that. Using skewed stats to back up your point of view is tricksy ;) How about looking at the towns people live in and calculating a distribution based on their distance from a central point in the SW derived from the halfway point from the furthest-south member to the furthest-north member, and then adding in a factor for people who have actually turned up to at least one meet? It's not the 30 min drive that's the issue - it's the number of times it has been necessary.

No worries Marcus - mine is back on the road now :)

Meets
Not sure that it's fair to include the big events as SW meetings, and Bristol is south of the M4. Dave, have you done a distribution graph to see what % of forum members are where? "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one" as a wise Vulcan once said. Surely the few should meet up with the many? FWIW, we have the same kind of problem in archery with clubs/competitions. The solution has been to divide up into four groups: Devon & Cornwall, Dorset & Wiltshire, Somerset (incl. Bath) and Gloucestershire (incl. Bristol), based on distribution. Perhaps we're getting to the stage where we need more than just one SW region?

At last!!
No. If non-smokers don't like smokey air in pubs, then clear off and set up a non-smoking pub. The right to smoke was there way before the lack of right to.

New turbos and thanks to Ztech
Just got back from Ztech...... Ryan and gang have fitted auto turbos into my manual. What a difference! The boost now kicks in much earlier (about 2.3k revs) and it makes the car much more nippy around town and has a fair bit more acceleration. Sure, I've lost the 180mph top end (now about 155mph) but I can live with that :) Thanks Ryan and the boys at Ztech - your customer service and great workmanship have done you credit once again :)

Nov SW Meet - Haynes Motor Museum

Then it's your choice to go/not go into smoky environments, isn't it? Why do you non-smokers feel the need to change the rest of the world to suit you and deprive other people's enjoyment of what is, after all, a perfectly legal habit? Of course there is some evidence for both sides (there always is) but when the top bod in his field, appointed by the Govt. to investigate, says there isn't a problem, that should carry more weight - but it doesn't, purely because it goes against the zeitgeist. ----- Also, the argument that the NHS is spending lots of money on looking after smokers' illnesses is moot because, fundamentally, the NHS is there to fix the health of the public, not to be selective in treatment. The income from tax on tobacco far exceeds the money spent on dealing with the consequences of smoking. It is propping up the NHS and that is why the Govt. has a hard time banning smoking and losing its high income cash-cow. IMO, there should be a tax on food that has no nutritional value and causes health problems, seeing as there is more NHS money spent on the consequences of that than anything else. "Sorry, sir, you can't have any anti-biotics for your chest infection because some idiot with self-inflicted obesity has just had the money spent on their triple heart bypass" just wouldn't wash, would it? If "passive" smoking is so bad, then there would have been a hell of a lot more problems caused by it in the last 50 years, during which time a lot more people smoked, than there has. It's a vote-winning Govt. buzzword that has scared the ignorant masses into believing there is a problem that doesn't really exist. Scare-mongering from this Govt? Surely not? And if smoking (as opposed to passive smoking) is so bad then why doesn't every smoker die of "smoking related" problems? Mods: please don't kill this thread - there's some interesting and (so far) civil debate going on.

At last!!
In fact, the poor air quality in London is more harmful to your health than smoking - so we'll just get rid of London, shall we?
