Like I said, with the Labour party dishing out the honours it's more about who they want to be seen to be associated with, rather than if the person actually earned it through achieving a certain goal. I personally know a world champ who deserves an MBE but compound field archery just isn't in the limelight.

MBE is an acceptable accolade for a World Champ, imho. It's when you get into the realms of OBEs and above that I get pissed off - unless they are truly magnificent achievements eg. Sir Steve Redgrave. I still think an OBE for Jonathan Woss is the biggest mistake in honours-giving ever. The bloody Labour party are going for the popularity contest to win votes. It's about time Paul Daniels was knighted.
