  1. Most likely, i did complain not to long ago about hearing a bubbling noise down in that area just after id sorted out the radiator
  2. yep, you can just see the offending pipe when the camera first focuses properly. still only have 1st and 2nd gears and reverse with no extra error codes as to why on the gearbox. car is currently sitting out side smoking while it cools down, i think i have a spare pipe in the garage but its still going to be around 20 years old.
  3. well that was an eventful test drive. here is the results click for video.....
  4. Most vented bonnets are carbon fibre so no need to paint it, just leave it as a carbon fibre bonnet.
  5. catch 22 if what jap.slapper put was correct on fuel consumption, though he did stop a fair way around the track already. had he carried on he wouldnt of been able to supply the fuel needed for testing (which is a gray area anyway, as they dont test the fuel they use during the race and quite happily allow cars to run out of fuel once the race has finished)
  6. tbh im coming close to doing that. since 2008 when i got my first, i think ive only ever had 1 year of pain free motoring with my zeds.
  7. OK wth, did a gearbox diagnostic on the car, no new faults, apart from the existing one that i already new about (lock up solenoid fault) double checked the fuse, went over all fuses in the engine bay. going to take the car out in a min as its cold and see if the heat from the loom touching the turbo had an effect on my gear changes? or my gearbox is well and truly stuffed. Either way im getting a manual for it again. this time it is going on, feel like im living on a knife edge with this auto box. will let you all know how this test drive goes.
  8. Actually what happened was, hamilton was fast because he was just fast, but not due to lack of fuel, Hamilton got told to pull over because they "thought" there wasn't enough fuel in the car, when they finally got it back to the garage they were still able to supply the 1.5lt fuel required to the race stewards, hence there was enough fuel in the car and Hamilton was actually just faster. He got pushed to the back of the grid based on the rule that during qualifying the car has to make it back to the pits on its own power, as martin whitmarsh had told Hamilton to pull over for safety reasons, as unlike conventional fuel tanks, F1 tanks are completely different, it is basically a bag that holds the fuel, sensors and channels in to direct the flow of fuel. They calculated wrong based on the amount of fuel that ended up going back into the car, thought there wasnt enough (which started the romour), and told hamilton to pull over, rather than risk the car running out of fuel in the middle of the track.
  9. the same weekend as hammy got slotted to the back of the grid, but still 5 grid places over 22?
  10. Right let me see if i get this right, Michael Schumacher, during qualifying, knocks another driver and also gets pole, but gets a penalty of a 5 grid place drop. Lewis hamilton, gets told to stop the car at the end of qualifying in pole, still provides the 1.5lt fuel sample for the race stewards, but because he didn't get the car back to the paddock under its own steam, gets a penalty and has to start from the back of the grid? Now, don't know about you, but to me, lumping someone else's car is a lot more dangerous than being told to pull over off the track as they are not sure on the fuel quantity AFTER qualifying has finished. Yeah i can see how this works now....
  11. You would probably benifit more from getting a vented bonnet, rather than cutting up your existing one. considering its only 4 bolts to change, you could then have one for the track and one for the road. or have your original as a spare.
  12. They are still used in many racing cars now, and some road cars, a few that spring to mind are Aston martins, pug 206, Evo 10. As for raising the bonnet, there seems to be conflicting views and evidence online depending engine lay out, some people say it makes it worse, others say it improves it. I suppose its down to if you notice a major increase, lower the bonnet. if not and you end up with a cooler engine, leave it raised
  13. Sayers text me yesterday again virgin media, thought they were only blocking TPB torrent site not us lol
  14. it was only doing the erratic temp only today AFTER i changed the fan clutch and only once i lost the gears from the gearbox? oh and my engine loom heated up, though that might also be the problem, large amounts of heat in the wiring loom would make the voltages do strange things so the consults software and my after market gauge was only acting on the new voltages.
  15. 3rd and 4th gone mate, doesnt want to change, and this time it isnt the bloody fuse, already got a gearbox on order, just need to pay for it and get it here now.
  16. certainly noticed the difference on mine streight away, until the gearbox decided it had had enough.
  17. Ive got mine raised, trust me when driving that hot air does move over the top of the car, you can feel it if you put your hand up with the roof off. If that was the case, the GT40 wouldn't have the radiators in its bonnet the way it does, there is sufficient turbulence there to move that air away from the windscreen cowl and wipes/
  18. ? not sure how you think air circulates inside an engine bay, but if the heat has no where to go (stock z32) then heat builds up, Vents do not interrupt the flow of air, hot air rises, putting vents on the bonnet aid cooling as the air can escape, it also aids airflow as the air has somewhere TO go, hence the reason why people raise the rear of the bonnet in hot countries. The z32 coolant system is quite sensitive to not being well maintained and the design is actually one of the most annoying aspects when modifying your car. I would actually class a upgraded radiator as a must when going anything over stock HP as more HP means more heat is being generated. With a fully functioning cooling system with the correct engine covers, the air comes in the front, past the Oil cooler (if its there) past the A/C fan, through the A/C radiator, sucked through the coolant radiator, past the Vacious fan, then blown over the engine, there is a small port for the hot air to escape on the top seem where the bonnet meets the rear seal up by the battery, the rest of the air is released via the side's out of the wheel arches, and under the car. which to be honest isn't optimal, you have a large hot air pocket at the top of the engine bay between the bonnet and the plenum that sits at a constant temp of hot moving air as the fan blows it over. If you add vents here, it gives the hot air that accumulates here a means of escape, Aids the cooling and actually gets rid of stalled air in the system. If the clutch is working correctly on your vacious fan, there is a hell of a lot of wind movement, enough to cool the engine effectively IF the rest of the system is working as intended.
  19. bloody thing is a farse anyway, pointless watching it as Europe hate england.
  20. that last one happened in Australia the child was ok. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/10/16/australia.baby.train.escape/
  21. Wouldn't call some of these luck, more like "getting away with being stupid" but jesus some of these are a close call. View discretion is advised MhI4nB4u77M
  22. You know that kind of talk is just asking for trouble lol, shhh zeds have ears
  23. The 300zx OEM temp gauge only has 3 settings, cold, drivable and blown head gasket. You would be better of getting a aftermarket temp gauge to figure out what is actually happening.
  24. because i find engines are usually warm when they are running. though not enough info to really give a good answer to it. could be a number of things.
