  11. If your cutting your loss, then as stated already, you might wont to think about if you can be bothered to break it for parts and sell on, or sell as spares and repairs, if the body work is all good, selling as a whole will get you a higher price for it even though its knackered. you will how ever make more cash breaking it, if its got performance parts on it and have the time and place to tackle something like that. Personally id stick a new engine in, and just maintain it better with out powering it everywhere, a cars reliability comes down to how its maintained vs how its being driven. and come on, its a 300zx, who doesn't like to put there foot down every once in a while. Biggest problem though, is when we buy these cars, we never truly know how the last owner has driven it, or if it was maintained correctly (just because there is a receipt for work done, doesn't mean its been properly maintained if you know what i mean) I recently broke a 300zx with a engine with 100k miles on the clock, the engine is now in a new car and running strong and true, in the last 11 years, its only covered 300miles, so in the past 10 years before that, it managed to cover 100k miles, most likely motor way miles as there was only 4 owners on the log book from new (UK spec) with me being the 4th. although the body work suffered and it looks like it had been sat for 11 years doing bugger all (it showed lol) mechanically it was fine apart from turbo seal failure. plus it was bog standard, so i doubt in its life time was ever thrashed. So it goes to show, that being looked after and not hammered around, doesn't matter if it looks like its going to fall to bits. they are actually about as reliable as most other cars. Unfortunately most people thrash them, or upgrade them and like to push the 300zx and stress the parts. yes they are a sports car, but if your going to hammer it around all over the place then expect things to break. Id say, sort the engine, maintain it well, and look after it with driving it conservatively most of the time and she will do you good.
  12. i have conzults orginal software, but i cant seem to get it activated anymore with the key thats been given to me with the disk. so at the moment, its a bit of a pointless package. and am i missing something with this ebay advert, it better make the tea and put the kids to bed or i cant understand why the hell it costs so much lol http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-2-0-RS232-Serial-DB9-9-Pin-Female-Adapter-Cable-/310230240573?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item483b29cd3d
  13. what daz is not showing in these pictures, is IF he had just panned the camera up, he has a whole 300zx shell, in "as new" condition with just primer on it, bought from Nissans factory when they first made them. mounted on the wall on its side, in a glass ventilated / filtered compartment for when he needs it.
  14. wow, how strange didnt even see that and im not that far from you, good job we dont get hail like in the states with stuff the size of golf balls or bigger. would put a targa through and dents like crazy.
  15. last time i had to remove the belt, i did it with the engine in the car as i was doing a water pump change. so basically undid the 14mm bolt, then undid the bolt on the tentioner to be able to loosen, then loosened with the bolt at the bottom to release the tention, then from on top i had to move the pump by hand to get it to shift enough to get some slack on the belt. When you do it up, its easier as the tentioner pulls the pump back into position. then lock it up as you normally would once tention is at the correct setting.
  16. Could be the cut wires were earthing, but cant see why hot cat warning, would cause a flat spot. when all posts on this site under a search say "just cut them, tape up the ends and if it does earth its self it will light up the bulb on the dash, just remove the bulb from the dash if its getting on your nerves"
  17. No that was the cat temp sensors we cut, had nothing to do with the O2 sensors that are mounted on your elbows. and they can be cut, only thing they would cause if there was a problem with the cut, is a light to come on, on the dash warning the cats are too warm. Codes under Mode II 11: crank angle sensor circuit 12*: air flow meter circuit 13*: engine coolant temp. sensor circuit 14*: vehicle speed sensor circuit 21: ignition signal circuit 26*: boost pressure sensor 31*: ECU 32*: EGR function 33*: exhaust gas sensor circuit (left) 34: detonation sensor circuit 35*: exhaust gas temp. sensor circuit 42: fuel temp. sensor circuit 43*: throttle position sensor circuit 45*: injector leak 51*: injector circuit 53*: exhaust gas sensor circuit (right) 54: signal circuit from A/T control to ECU 55: NO malfunctions in the above
  18. http://www.cooks-knives.co.uk/acatalog/Kyocera_Ceramic_Knives.html Just get a set of these, serious business to be honest, i had a set once, brilliant bit of kit
  19. Id buy, zerocools engine off him for £550 and do an engine swap, its a known good engine, got paper work for the rebuild and has only done around 8k miles since its rebuild, so basically a brand spanking new one to slot in your zed.
  20. Ive got a set already off a plenum ready to polish up. with throttle linkage.
  21. By any chance does it do it when you go over 70mph lol as some jap ones have a speed warning chime
  22. well, even though im a smoker (me not the car) i never use the ashtray in the zed (that doesnt mean i flick it on the floor before someone says) i might actually get around to using it for holding me drink now. Kinda annoying getting a cold bottle of cherry coke out of a fridge, only to freeze your right *****ck off when holding it between the legs.
  23. well, i must be doing something wrong then, because i started, and ive been going at it ages and i cant see to get past the caked dirt yet, using 240grit sand paper.
  24. fancy doing my throttle bodies? lol, ive got the polished plenum already waiting to go on, just need the throttle bodies polished now lol
