give me a few mins ill get some photos for you bud.- Steamers Tip Of The Day
well you know that instinctive reaction to catch something when it falls, well don't do it with a iron that your ironing a shirt with, leaves a nice iron impression on your hand for about 2 weeks while the skin heals lol- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
well, looks like im going to have to rip the dash out, cant see any thing obvious that caused the smoking issue last night and im now paranoid enough to take the dash off and have a proper look- Quick Q about timeing
psst andy, your green....- Steamers Tip Of The Day
Noob - Quick Q about timeing
have you tried the little loop on the PTU cable? some say it works, other say it doesnt, but give it a try, as it doesnt cost anything. but in short, your going to get a better result with a light gun doing the timing.- Any one got this bonnet fitted?

kaza PM me photos lol- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
well i had a brilliant idea to try and sort the wiring out this morning, then half way through it turned into one of them jobs where "you wonder why you started" Just extending the power switch for the PC at the moment so i can switch everything on from inside the cabin. suppose it would be a good idea tomorrow, to ring zed world and get these parts for engine / gearbox and get the fooking thing fitted lol. Steams any chance you can pop over and see if you can drill these bloody bolts out of these turbo housing?- FAO Dazvert
agreed, and its not easy to PM you stupid PMs asking if you wouldnt mind planking off a 747 at 30,000 feet - Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
nope but it seriously had me worried, what i dont get though, is everything still works and now it doesnt smoke? very very strange. looks like im going to have to get all me panels off from the dash tomorrow and have a proper look or its going to play on my mind ever time i switch the ignition on. ooh it only did it with the ignition set to on, something was definitely melting or over heating though, due to the smoke. just couldn't see anything, and there was no smoke/melted stuff from what id installed, so must be something I've knocked else where along the lines, with how the electrics in this car have been butchered in the past, think id be better ripping the dash out, getting a load of stock cables from someones breaker for the dash area, and just rewiring the whole frigging thing.- Overhearing comments about your Z
pfft, blasphemy, keep it nissan - Overhearing comments about your Z
it does if you stick the RB26DETT engine in.- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
well, ive now got another switch installed into the dash area to switch the amps on. with a flick switch, so now i have inverter switch and amp switch in the cabin, just need to extend the power switch for the PC into another switch in the cabin to turn the PC on. Something strange happened though, had it all wired up, put the dash back together, my lights dimmed, then i see some smoke coming from the dash. so quickly turned everything off and unplugged the battery, dismantle my dash again, still loads of smoke, checked all my wiring couldn't see nothing, checked the charger id put in there, didnt smell, rechecked the wiring for the feed to the charger, and re did it. cant for the life of me find where this smoke was coming from, tested everything again, including wipers, all pod controls, everything with a electrical feed, everything working. Tested the system out with the dash apart, even sniffed the clock. everything is working fine, no signs of over heating, or arching or anything so im baffled as to why i had smoke that smelled like something burning / melting??? now im paranoid my dash is going to burn down. may have disturbed a dodgy wire somewhere, this car seems to be full of them (and no car.mad, not my wiring im on about lol) Ive just spend from 12pm till 10mins ago trying to sort out all the wiring that was bodged together in this car. seems i must of missed something.- Overhearing comments about your Z
well when me and artztogo nipped to rugby to get some horns for his car in my red one, we had a guy in a ariel atom nod his head in appreciation at the car. Last week had some idiot say "nice supra", thats the second time my zed has been called a supra lol, once by a skyline owner at McDonald's of all things. and then a chav last week lol couple of kids asked if it was a lambo, which is always nice, but then have to correct them. and ive had a few women ask when im taking them out for a ride in it lol- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
Ok looks like im not going to be able to ditch the laptop charger as the remote, though i dont want to be plugging it into the lighter socket. so will splice it into the lighter socket wire and keep it all hidden, just looks like im going to be adding another switch, going to have 3 switches in the cabin eventually once ive extended the on switch for the PC.- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
someone must know how to run a remote lead? surely im not the only one with some dodgy and strange audio set up lol- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
in short? no  its a 7" touch screen, very thin, looks like it should be mounted in a caravan, there is only a din socket to connect to the PC via DVI, and a power in for the AC power. thats it. no normal stereo anywhere insight.- Any one got this bonnet fitted?
the reason why im not to sure on the first one, but love the style of the one on the 350z and its smoother with nothing "sticking up"- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
i dont have a normal stereo head unit in place lol This is the set up 7" touch screen mounted in the dash, double din style, (just a screen) power from that being drawn from the lighter socket by some dodgy wiring, and being earthed on the chassis, with a cable just to get a image to the screen running through the side of the car (under the carpet) then under the back seat into the boot area. All music is powered by a PC in the boot. there a live feed from the battery, through the cabin under the rear seats to the boot into a major fuse terminal. where the live then gets split via double fuse holder to each amp, the inverter for the PC is taking power from one of the fuse terminals and being earthed on the chassis, both amps are earthed on the chassis, with a audio cable coming from the PC to both amps, one feed going to the sub amp, the other going to the front and rear speaker amp. There is no remote switch on anything from the usual stereo ISO as its just not being used (more to the point some daft sod just cut the frigging connectors off leaving the wires all electrical taped up) Its been a nightmare rewiring everything. but in short i went from how i got it, which was installed like this. (wiring was a little to be desired when i started delving deep lol) So first thing to do was untangle the mess of wires, remove redundant wires that for some reason has been channeled in but did nothing and went from no where, to no where. until i ended up with this. Then installed the amps under the carpet, hoping to tidy up the boot area, and hopefully also fit my spare wheel in, as it helps keep the carpets shape So with one amp installed near the back of the seats, the other was installed where the tool kit goes. Anyway, after a bit of rewiring, and hiding cables, and boot carpet installed, it looks some what like this. with a nice button installed to turn the inverter on from the cabin, still need to extend the power button from the PC to inside the cabin as well. just not sure where to put it. Just need to figure out how to do this remote lead for the amps to get them to switch on, and why my inverter now makes some strange buzzing noise and doesnt power anything even though its wired up how it was to start with? (sounds like a fan warning alarm) overall though a lot tidier- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
dunno, all i know is that there is a laptop incar charger, set to 15v's going to the rear of the car to the amps with a blue wire spliced into it, the laptop plug is loose, with the blue wire running to the remote input on the back of the amps. does it need to be live? if so i can wire it into the inverter + wire, and the amps turn on when the laptop charger is plugged into the ciggy socket.- Stereo remote lead from ISO connector
Does the stereo remote lead on the built in ISO lead, carry a voltage to turn things on like the amp? Reason i ask, im trying to tidy up the boot area, the speaker cables / earth and live wires have been wired in nicely, but the remote feed for my amps is being taken from a laptop incar charger that plugs into the lighter socket, im trying to eliminate the incar charger to go direct to the iso lead if possible. as i have plans for my astray which is going.- Any one got this bonnet fitted?
would just need some channels inside the bonnet to channel the rain water down and to the front of the engine so it drips out between the fan and the radiator or somewhere like that. the one on Mac1's car (first one i linked too) apparently has the vents sitting so water can drain with out fear of getting on the engine bay electrics. not too much of a problem if your driving the car, as the water would be pushed towards the windscreen, but would be a nightmare if it gets cought short out in a car park or car show, where standing water can run down into the vents. - tt engine pic please
