  1. OMG just removing the engine is turning out to be really tricky she does not want to give you ANYTHING. Every single bolt is absolutely stuck in there :headvswal they either snap off they are so tight or round off making them near impossible to remove :nono:. When you work underneath her she either spits brake fluid, or power steering fluid on you. The drops grase and rust in your eyes in the hope that temporary blindness will make you give up for a bit.. Yesterday it took me three hours to remove three bolts holding the exhaust from the back of the O/S tub. I could not get at one of them as the starter bolts were almost welded in so needed a good soaking in WD40. I managed to get the bugger out from above with a ring spanner at length doing like 1-50th of a turn each time she cut my hand :wack:. I finally got the bugger off though!. Today started really well the two bolts on the exhaust at the back of the other tub came off no problems at all :hyper:. One at the top came out and the other came loose real easy. One of the last bolts came out about 4 MM then to my amazement just completely jammed solid :nono:. Would not go any further from the top, from below with a ring spanner with a socket... what a bitch and it would be the hardest one to get to as well. In fact she must of planned this to break my will on the very worst one to get to. I wound it back in and out again until it jammed rock solid in the same place again. A spanner and socket would not move it :headvswal . This went on for two more hours until I could see no way to get it out.. I then had a brain wave maybe my air wrench would fit on it from beneath... yes it did but dooooh it just jammed in the same place every time I tried winding it in and out. Brolly OX it then rounded the bolt off in the jammed out position. WTF was I going to do now. Blanco had stopped me once again, bleeding hands oil and brake fluid in my eyes and I swear she was laughing at me . I got a hacksaw blade and tried invane to get it to cut through the exposed bolt. All I did was cut my hands further :headvswal. Then after making futile attemps with a blade on its own for another hour or so I then found a junior hacksaw and tied it to a long file at an angle. It took me another hour but my tool managed to squueze into the back depths of the engine and slowly saw that mother off. This broke her will to fight :smash: I then managed to rob her of her exhaust, heat shield, prop shaft, and even drop the back of the gearbox. All she could do to me now was continue spitting fluid at me. Tommorow I swear I am going to rip that bitches heart out at last LOL. But she will probably crush me in the process or something.
  2. That might be great, we are going to carry on so its possible we might get it out but I will keep you posted. Above all thanks guys, the people on here are all great! thanks
  3. Thanks guys... your gearbox might well be fixed by the time we get this thing out LOL. Tonight I spent 3 hours getting one exhaust off from behind the tub as you cant get to one of the nuts at the back behind the brake cylinder and the SOB did not want to come off for love nor money. Im hoping tommorow night will be a little more productive!!.
  4. Does anyone live near Fareham, Hampshire fancy helping us finnish off getting an engine out on Saturday. Figured it will be easier with some help from someone who knows what they are up to . Happy to pay so if you fancy helping out and fancy earning some cash please let me know. Failing that I expect it will take us another few weekends at the rate we are going  and I might be asking a load more questions..
  5. I just bought one of these from Kyle, the later ones have a lot of issues ironed out apparantly so would be the way to go.
  6. That is absolutely stunning, and very tastfully done!. Did you polish the alloy or get it chromed? Where did you buy all the pipes from? Great job and inspirational
  7. Cool thanks for that we are spending more time on it at the weekend so I will let you know how I get on.
  8. Move to the isle of weight if you want reds, you killing it aiant gonna do anything to help
  9. I paid today so I already have the 300 degree ones.. I am excited but it will take a few months to have it all made and get it over here. I have had my fair share of exotics, 2 Ferraris, 6 Porsches including a GT3 and a tuned twin turbo, and a few other decent motors. But I can honestly say I have wanted to do something absolutely mad with a Jap car my whole life. I dont care what it costs or how long it takes I just want to do whatever I can myself and I am already enjoying every minute of it. If I go spend 40-50K on my 5K zed and it is only still worth 5K then so be it LOL. I fly a desk during the day so it is really nice to get my hands dirty when I get home and get stuck in trying to remove each and every one of these frickin bolts that are jammed in to get the engine out. Thanks for your help but I have already walked the plank now. Help working out what to do with the stuff and how to fit it when it turns up will be very appreciated though.
  10. Guys I cant tell you how grateful I am for this I dont have the brackets on the plenham so what do I do? So exhaust from the 3 bolts is that back from the turbos or further back kind of the ones that meet the straight pipes underneath (easy to get to).
  11. Guys Had another crack tonight at removing bits to get the engine out on my manual TT. Would really appreciate the following answerd as it will really help with learning the ropes. 1. Do we need to split the engine from the gearbox to remove the engine?. Clearly we need to undo the prop shaft etc if not. But will it all come out in one piece. 2. Does the starter definately need to come off or can it just be dis connected? 3. Is it easiest to undo the exaust from underneath beneath the turbos? 4. Is it easier to undo the engine mounts from above or below. Any tips will be really helpful as we are doing this on axel stands so room is tight and I dont want to struggle doing unneccesary stuff. The service book leaves a lot to the imagination. :headvswal
  12. Will the gearbox come out when I lift the engine or do I need to undo it and then take the engine out then drop the gearbox?
  13. Im sure she would do them on a commision basis she does do freelance work out of the office.
  14. We have a really gifted graphics girl in the office who drew my car today. She is also going to be doing the mock up of the airbrushing designs I am having done under the bonnet as well. When the engine is out I am thinking of having either a blue plasma ball on the bonett with sparks coming out in a kind of cool technology kind of theme along with sparks coming up the sides of the engine bay. Or A flaming skull with flames and mirrors on the bonnet and flames coming up the side of the engine bay. I will post the pics what do you think would be coolest?
  15. Holy crap I ended up spending another $6,000 by the time you throw a decent cam belt on some NOS and a super expensive clutch and new gearbox, gasket set and some plugs etc. All agreed and on order now 6-8 weeks to build it up plus the shipping time so over Christmas I can guess what I will be doing.
  16. Holy Crap.. good luck. Just be carful of going legal as it could cost you another 15K in costs if the claim is over 15K and take a year to get into court if it is Multi track claim then you need to enforce payment as well. IMO just pay the external labour part and a "reasonable" amount for anything else. You need to get off them in writing why exactly they have failed to complete the build. Otherwise in court they will say they were unable to complete the contract reasonably because you took the car or failed to pay a bill etc.
  17. hmmm washed it about an hour before.. could be that thanks
  18. Thanks... no i am keeping the air con I think someone on the thread said to remove it but I want it.
  19. Bummer they were like the only bits I managed to get off today and they took blinkin hours and they are sitting in a box on my garage floor!. At least I know what to do with the AC.
  20. This is what Kyle said about the clutch "With the Nitrous you may want to look at the RPS Dual Carbon instead. It would hold both the boost and nitrous" So I will go for that one, thanks guys
  21. Thanks silver bullet this is really going to be a community project LOL. I am enjoying doing it. Do I leave all the AC pipes attached to it when I take it off or does it need to be removed from the engine bay? as it all looks like it is a sealed system.
  22. Have a go... get stuck in
  23. Cant you buy secondhand ones?
