2 questions not covered in the service Manual, would really appreciate answers to these. 1. It says remove front exaust tubes?? it does not say if they come off after the turbos or at the manifold etc 2. With the A/C pump I have undone all the bolts I could see on the front and I could feel a bolt at the back but not sure if that was for the AC how on earth could you get to that as there is not room for a spanner or socket.

I expect you might be right but like I say it was to do work to as a project car so if I buy all this stuff, pay someone to trim it and do the audio etc then I might as well have just gone out and spent 35K on something done or a new RS focus or something. We cant do the interior, or the audio as we are having a real top system put in by a pro so that only leaves the mechanicals. Only...... OMG Kyle said he will answer any fit qestions along the way but I bet he lives to regret that and the order will take 8 weeks so even at a snails pace we should be ok. How the hell anyone can get an engine out in 2 hrs is beyond me LOL

OMG with all my bits just about to go on order I thought I would make a start on removing the engine today. Its a bit of a worry as we drove the thing into the garage, and now we have no idea how long it will take and if we will even be able to get it running again despite having a fantastic set up on the way :( so much can go wrong but at least the block and heads are built!. Right until today I was thinking of getting someone like Jimmer to fit it all, but the only reason I bought this car was as a project car for something to do over the winter so fingers crossed me and my friend can do it all :). I work on MX bikes I used to work in a garage in the early 90s but holy cows what a tough first day. I have the service manual disk thingy and if you flick to the taking engine out section it looks so easy. It basically says do this and do that and remove Alternator, powersteering pump etc but does not show you how to get the bits off.... so frustrating ahhh. I dont think the engine has ever been out as every single bolt was soooooo tight. Progress so far Rad out, pulleys off, Alternator and power steering pump removed, quite a few pipes removed and a fair amount of the electrics disconnected. Took loads of pictures so we can work out how it goes back together. I have a feeling I will be asking lots of questions over the coming months, I will post pictures as I go.

Kyle put the spec together, and I have just added an upgraded Manual gearbox as well as a NOS Kit. He said his engines and this spec he put together will be absolutely fine using NOS.

How much is a 96 one roughly? I will try and get some decent gearbox oil in there in the time being.

yes thing is when the engine comes out in the next few months is it worth getting it looked at or is it worth just doing the clutch and oil in the hope its that. In the meantime I dont want to damage it so want to check and replace the gearbox oil.

yes it only happens at higher revs.. I will get some and have a go with that. I just found the top up hole on the gearbox using the online service manual link. How do you know how much to put in?

My gearbox is fine selecting all gears at lower speeds. However when you go to select 5th on the motorway at over about 80 you can feel it grating as it goes in. The clutch is quite stiff and bytes quite near the floor and you have to push it all the way down to engage gears, if I were a betting man I would say that it is probably a pressure plate problem. Question is this, would you say that this sounds like clutch or do you think it is in fact the gear box?. Also how do you check and top up the gearbox oil on these cars? thanks :bow:

Looks like this will be the way I go... has anyone imported piles of bits from the US and what were the import and shipping charges like. How long did they take to arrive as well?.

Mine had rage ones in when I bought it so they need upgrading.

Guys Any opinions on who makes nice seats either leather or black cloth buckets for the ZED. I was thinking of Recaros but do they fit? Also where can I take the car to have the interior done? I would like new seats, carpets, the rear seats taken out and all the door trims and dash etc re covered. I would also like a nice Audio set up put in etc. Do you have to get it done in different places or do certain companies specialise in doing the whole lot?. Or if you are mad enough is it something you can do yourself with getting bits and pieces done?. ta :duffer:

Where can you buy a workshop manual for a 92 zed TT? I was after one of the Haynes ones but can only seem to find the ones for the older model.

Slightly buckled wheel by the sounds of it, this is EXACTLY what happens and it becomes noticable at those kinds of speeds. I have had this a few times when I have hit pot holes fast on low profile tyres. If it is a brake problem the wobble comes from the peddle not the steering wheel as a rule!. I have always ended up replacing front wheels to rectify the problem, visibly you might not see any damage either!.
