  1. Just be grateful we don't drive Renault Meganes as you need to remove the entire front bumper to access the head lights. Cost my neighbour £230 to change a blown bulb!
  2. Thank you all for your feed back! :) IanL: thanks for the explanation. If I use the antenna feed then I will presumably loose the automatic operation of the antenna, or can the feed be split in two (or would that not leave enough power to switch the amp on/off?) Regards,
  3. Hi guys, I've decided to fit a new amp and head unit into my current car but have come across a potential problem. The amplier has a remote on/off input but the head unit does not support this feature. Does this mean that (a) the amp will always be on and therefore drain the battery when the ignition is off and (b) can I wire in a separate 12V rocker switch and connect that to the amplifier remote on/off input. Thanks for your feedback! Regards,
  4. LOL - There seems to be a lot of my Smithy's/DTA stainless and CF parts in and around the engine :thumbup1:
  5. If you already have a 35W HID kit and want to upgrade to a 55W kit then all that is required are a new pair of 55W ballasts. FYI - I can supply new 55W ballasts at a cost of £80.00/pair plus £6.80 Special Delivery. Regards,
  6. Wow! Congrats Joel, but I'm worried about your health if you managed to get pregnant! ;) Good luck with the pregnancy and also on the jobs front.
  7. Hi Joel, I'm not sure whether the friction plate is interchangeable between the Street and Max clutches but will find out for you. I'm pretty surprised about the lack of sales as well - these clutches are excellent and very good value for money. Regards,
  8. Hi Dan, I've had these tyres on my ZX for about two years (prior to selling the car) and have been very happy with them. Excellent traction in the wet as well as dry. I can't vouch for how they hold up under track conditions as I never tracked my car but I can recommend the T-1R's. We're also using them on my wife's MX-5 with excellent results! PS - got an answer from Stillen ref. droplink parts - will pm you this afternoon/evening with pricing info, etc. Regards,
  9. Firstly, no HID install should affect the electrical system so the fact that your speedo bounces around is an indication that there is a problem. I assume that this started happening only after the HID install and not prior to that? Could be a coincidence but I'd check to make sure the HID ballasts are wired up correctly and that there are no exposed bit of cabling shorting out on the chassis. Secondly, HID's will flicker quite brightly when first turned on and will then slowly become brighter over the course of 2-ish seconds. The colour of your HID's should be brilliantly white if you have a 6000K kit. If it is anything other than brilliantly white then it is likely to be a fault. A ballast fault could result in insufficient voltage being sent to the bulbs which results in dimmer lighting. You're probably best off trying a new pair of ballasts to see if that resolves anything (I can supply those if necessary). From experience, any 6000K HID kit will dramatically improve the headlights on a Z32. You really should clean the inside of the projector lenses and headlight glass but even without doing so you should see a marked improvement over stock. For reference, a 35W 6000K kit is roughly 300% brighter than a halogen 55W bulbs whereas a 55W 6000K kit is 100% brighter than a 35W kit. In order to minimise light scatter, and as a result blinding oncoming drivers, it is important that you clean both the inside of the projector lens and headlight glass. The outside of the headlight glass should also be cleaned regularly. Finally, it is imperative that the headlights are properly alligned to avoid blinding oncoming drivers and also to ensure the correct beam projection. HTH
  10. What Legrath meant was a dodgy temp sender connection on the water pipe in the engine bay. Take a look at the front of the engine where the top radiator hose connects to the block. You'll see two sender units, one yellow, one black (smaller of the two). You need to secure the black one. What is happening is when you accellerate the force of the wind coming off the viscous fan is pushing against the connector which as a result is losing contact and thereby moving the needle on the gauge cluster. If you secure it properly then you'll no longer have this problem. HTH Regards,
  11. Sorry for the price omission, I was out for dinner when I responded last night ... 55W Ballast: £41.50 each + £5.20 postage (Special Delivery) Usually delivered within 2 working days from receipt of payment. Regards,
  12. James, Not alot of companies in the UK will have RPS parts in stock. As you already know I sell RPS clutches and flywheels and will find out a price for you. The part will need to be imported though. Regards,
  13. Be careful, 35w ballasts are the most commonly sold versions and will NOT work with 55w bulbs. If you need a 55w ballast for your Hong Kong made kit then let me know as I stock them.
  14. As above really. Swap the ballasts over and see what happens: Problem swaps to other light = ballast problem Problem remains on same side = bulb problem If you need a more reliable ballast or bulbs then let me know as I usually keep these in stock. Good luck.
  15. As said above, Apexi is the brand to go for. Unfortunately they have been unavailable for many months which has driven up the price. I've been able to secure 5 this past week but at a cost of £110.00 each ... :-( So, if any one wants one you'll have to be quick because even at that price they won't be around very long. Once these have gone I probably won't be able to get hold of any more for a fee more months.
  16. I tried the Experia for a couple of days, then the iPhone 3Gs and in the end fell in love with the HTC Desire. Had it for about a month now and wouldn't change it for anything! I know this "review" may not be helpful to your decision making process but I would seriously recommend the HTC if you're looking for a well specced smartphone. Regards,
  17. I can wholeheartedly recommend our Porterfield R-4S Carbon-Kevlar pads as and when you move over to R33/34 calipers. Will need to requote you an accurate price at the time of ordering (due to currency fluctuations) but at the moment the price is £115.00 front and £105.00 rear. I see you've decided to go with Brembo discs rather than the AP ones ... don't blame you, the AP discs would have been one heck of a hassle to get sorted. If that's the case can I stand-down my AP guy? Regards,
  18. Hi, Not sure if this may be of interest to you but I've got a set of 19" Kahn RS-C 2 piece alloys for sale (see pic). The centres are silver coloured, in perfect condition and there are only a few scuff marks on the polished lips (can supply detailed pics if required). They are 235/35/19 or 245/35/19 front and 265/30/19 or 275/30/19 at the rear (the alloys can take both sizes so it depends on what you want or what your budget allows for). It's a lovely stagered set of alloys and I've always had a lot of positive comments on them. I had them up for sale a few months ago at £1,500 but will take £1,200 now (new they retail at £2,400 plus VAT plus tyres). Rubber at the front is ok but the rears are illegal so you would have to budget for a new set of rear tyres. These came off my own Zed when I sold it last year and I've been keeping them to put on a new Zed but have decided not to buy one. I know of only two other Zeds with these alloys, Faisal's and Touslecoque's. If interested please give me a call on 0845 4744-382. Payment can be made either in cash, credit/debit card or paypal. I'm willing to deliver to Cardiff (or anywhere between Cardiff and Birmingham) for petrol money. Regards,
  19. Hi Dan, Aside from the brands you've listed I can also recommend Porterfield pad - these work very well with DBA discs. As you know I can supply any of the above mentioned pads, let me know if you require a quotation. Regards,
  20. I can supply Stillen (Mintex) or Porterfield brake pads (£80 and £75 respectively). These are shipped prices. Unfortuantely, neither are currently in stock but should be available in about 7~10 days. Both of the above pads are excellent street pads and will take some track abuse without fading. However, if you do a lot of track days then I recommend Ferodo DS2500 pads (£129.50) but these (a) produce a lot of dust and squeel and (b) eat through discs at an alarming pace so not really conducive to normal daily street use. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Regards, Dan PS - be aware that the QuickFit (et al) "life time guarantee" does not apply to normal brake pad wear ... only to manufacturer defects ...
  21. Happy birthday Brian! All the best,
  22. What you need really depends on how big a service you intend to give the car. With regard to oil & fuel filters I would only recommend OEM Nissan parts as you're then guaranteed that they work to the correct specifications. Furthermore, if you wish to change spark plugs then use NGK's; For ancillary belts I can recommend either Gates or Dayco (OEM belts are quite expensive); Cambelt I'd only ever use OEM Nissan. Anyway, if you've got a better idea as to what you want to "service" then get back to me as I can provide all parts required (not everything is listed on my website though). Regards,
  23. Hi Behold, Just thought I'd chime in with my 2p worth ;) I am an official DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) re-seller. These discs are very highly regarded by Skyline owners both here and in Australia. I have sold a lot of these discs to 300ZX owners who are upgrading to R33 GTR calipers and all are extremely happy with the results (especially when used in conjunction with our Porterfield R-4S brake pads). I can offer you the following discs which are R33 GTR caliper specific and bolt on directly onto the Z32 hub without modifications. It does however assume you have been able to obtain R33 GTR calipers. DBA R33GTR 324x30mm Discs (front): £330.00 (pair) DBA R33GTR 300x20mm Discs (rear): £330.00 (pair) Shipping on the above is flat rate £17.69 Discs are usually available from stock. The 4000-series discs are DBA’s mid-series enhanced performance discs and feature Thermal Stability Profiling for improved heat handling, Thermo-Graphic paint markings for effective heat monitoring and Kangaroo Paw venitilation design for efficient braking. The 4000 discs have a unique 6x6 Wiper Slot design for extreme stopping power on road and track. I can also supply stainless steel braided brake lines for the R33GTR Brembo calipers at a cost of £80.00. Porterfield R4-S Carbon-Kevlar brake pads are £115 (front) and £105 (rear). Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you - depending on the order size I could work out a better deal for you. Kind regards,
  24. Oh, sorry Dave, I used the GB Pound sign rather than US Dollar sign. Shipping of a clutch (depending on the courier and method used) will cost between US$80 (GB£54) and US$120 (GB£80). My apologies for the mistake. Will amend my original posting. However, the whole exercise is still quite costly.
