Speaker not working.
Andrew, Yep checked the fad and bal, its not them. I decided to test the unit so I found an old one of mine, took my existing one off, plugged the old one in and hey presto.. bloody thing wont work!! found another one of mine, popped that in, and bugger, that ones broken as well.. I don't recall these being u/s but that's life. Now this will get you guessing... put my one back in and What the F***!!! that one wont work now... Argh!!! Put it all back together, so it looks good but doesn't work. maybe the 2 old units were okay but wont switch on like my "good" one, seems I might have some weird elec issue going on here... Rich

H3C lights, wont work.
Andrew, Hi, Thanks, the H3 I've got looks like this, the flying lead is for the power supply , or so I am lead to believe. So if that's the case, where is the Earth Rich

Speaker not working.
Hi, my drivers door speaker stopped working so took off the trim and accessed the speaker area. Got my multimeter and established connectivity on the lead back to the connector on the back of the stereo unit. I have put a working speaker (one of the rears) on the leads and no joy. So any thoughts why it wont work? (Quick question, what sort of output should I see on the speaker leads, ) Rich

H3C lights, wont work.
Hi, had some H3C lights and thought id put them in for comparison, put them in, clamped, and took the flying lead with a spade to the connector. plugged in to the live and switched on. Nothing. took it out and placed the baseplate against bolt head Voila!! let there be light. So I thought the baseplate was the earth so a lead to the earth side of the connector wasn't needed. Where am I going wrong... Cheers Rich

Dip Lamps
Lexx, Hi, cleaned out? No, definitely not, not by me anyway. I do have a spare car in the garden and have been trying to get both of the headlight units off, well what a job THAT is!! once I get them off I am looking to clean them up and swap them over, any tips on THAT would be helpful... Rich

Dip Lamps
Lexx, Hi, Like you mentioned at the end,.Would not the reflector divert the beam down like a normal "dip" lamp and stop the oncoming cars getting dazzled?, you see my main problem is having some... ANY light to see the kerb, or even 20 ft ahead, I have often had to STOP as I cant see anything in front of me. Rich

Dip Lamps
Hi Mate, yeah I ordered some new bulbs but as you saw, I think I got sent some 8000k's - not good. I have now got some 6000k's in but am still not satisfied with the output. The main beam "night breakers" look really bright and was trying to get a set into the dip. I'm still looking at things, there's no rush for me nowadays.. Rich

Dip Lamps
Phutumsch, yes you're right of course, the base is different, the H3 ones have 2 small cutouts, little sq with half circle opposite, whereas the H1 has a diagonal cutout. Cheers The reason I'm trawling for info is the HIDs just don't seem to cut it anymore, and was thinking maybe some Xenon type night breakers would be better. Anyhows, thanks for the help Rich

Dip Lamps
okay Jeff, thanks so far. So I'm right in assuming the H3's flying lead plugs into the 2 pin socket, obviously into the power, if this is the case can a H1 bulb , which has only 1 blade be used, with the power socket of the plug plugging into the bulb, (it has the same base config) my only concern would be the length, Any comments would be helpful. Rich

Dip Lamps
Jeff, I see that H3c are short ones with 2 blades, ? this would then fit the plug, you say H3 for both for Zenons, but they have a lead on them, does this just plug into the ..er..plug? Rich
-
Dip Lamps
Hi, as far as I can remember the dip lamps are set up for H1 bulbs, which has 1 blade, yet the plug has more than one, am I missing something? or am I getting confused with the main lamps. rich

HID's
Hi guys, can you tell me whats the difference between a HID set costing £20 and one costing £80, and no prizes for anyone saying £60. Would, for instance, the expensive one have a brighter output for a set of 6000 bulbs? Rich

Welding Compromise.... for now!
Hi Guys, I have a small hole in the bottom sill about 3/4 " dia, one each side, just behind the front wheel arch, now I planned to weld these up in Sept, but with one thing and another.... well you know the usual story. So my next plan in to have a look at them in the new year, but what can I do to them to prevent further water ingress, I have got some waxoyl to spray inside and then thought of putting some plate/sheet metal over it using pop rivs with gunge under to seal. Question is, is this ok or is there a more accepted way . Regards rich

Oh The Joys of driving in the Wet!!
There was I, going round a roundabout, you know, those large ones where you can set the front wheels and just power round, except this time the car decides to have a 4 wheel aquaplane, rear wheels drifting one way and the front pointing another. Should have seen the look on the face on the woman in her Micra waiting to come on the r/bout who I am now sliding towards... luckily the water runs out and tarmac comes to the rescue, grip returns and I power up my exit.. HID Dips
Hi Guys. changed my bulb units on the headlights to HID's, now all seemed okay but now the dark nights are upon us, it appears that one side is brighter (or dimmer) than the other, now any ideas what this could be? bulb, wiring, gravitational pull of the sun..... Any suggestions welcome Rich

Car Audio experts please advise
Okay, i'll find out tomorrow, but from memory the speakers in question are in the door made by RipSpeed (not my choice, in when bought) and the head unit is a 4-5 yr old pioneer cd/radio, nothing flash. I'll get the figures tomorrow. cheers
