  1. Hi Could anyone advise on fluid for TT manual gearbox with cooler fitted (75W90??) please ?
  2. Thanks for replies,much appreciated.
  3. Hi All, Bit of advise please.Bought NISSAN 300ZX ALUMINIUM LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINE CRANK PULLEY . Havn't unpacked as when comparing with the one taken off it has smaller diameter the one taken off measures 168mm to outer edge on large side and 118mm on small, where the new one is 135mm and 88mm. Just wondered as its driving alternator and water pump what effect it will have on them and whether I'll have to source smaller belts ? Any advise really appreciated. (Also recommended transmission fluid for TT manual with oil cooler ? 75W90??)
  4. What can I say mate ,your generosity is unbelievable. I couldn't be more grateful .As you know I don't know what I'm doing at minute and don't want to step on brother-in-laws toes as he's also been so good to me. Your an absolute star mate.If the saying "what goes around, comes around" is correct mate ,you'll never be short of a helping hand. Once again can't thank you enough. Will keep you posted.
  5. To be honest mate,I wish I'd bit the bullet and got Jeff & Jamie to do the work. I did some panic buying "engine from djpeterj" then decided to go other route so ACL bearings, crank ,oil pump from USA, seals, thinking I may be able to recover some costs by selling the engine on, but me being a knob have maxed out financially with purchases (soon adds up). At the end of the day labour costs scare the s**t out of me and it was the only way I could think to keep my costs down. (After the amount of grief I'm putting myself through and head scratching decision making what bit of hair I have left, will be gone). Same old saying mate "You make your bed,You lie on it" but mines mighty uncomfortable at the moment and not giving me much sleep. Sure it will all come good , I hope. Thanks for advise mate.
  6. Hi mate, Yep the photos are scary alright, don't worry the car hasn't been used, its been tucked away in the garage for quite a bit now awaiting the work. I knew it wasn't worth using it. Looking at the photo mate and your comments,it must have been a really bad time for you when it went bang. As you probably know I've always had a Z for over 10 years and been a member for 6 now and know they can be difficult to work on.Which has taught me you guys definately know your stuff and you've all helped me endlessly over the years (not only with the Z's) . When I get down to it will keep you informed on route taken. All the best. (You never know ,I might have to buy a bag of spuds to add to the pain)
  7. Hi mate, That photo looks nasty and painfull, hope my message to Dazkent sheds some light on the situation. Thanks for your help mate.
  8. Hi Feeling is that it probably is just big ends starting. When I said ok to drive (only meant if absolutely necessary for emergency etc as would obviously not help by continuing to use). I'm probably being over critical and could have just done big ends, but dropped on a crank ,so decided to replace along with mains/big ends and oil pump while doing job + cambelt. Could have put the engine in I bought from djpeterj but this engine seems sweet and very strong apart from big ends so I thought it was worth the crank, new oil pump etc and then try to recoup some money with other engine. Hope I've made right decision . Appreciate all feedback and offers of help from you all, thanks again.
  9. Cheers buddy All the very best to you. Will keep you informed.
  10. Hi mate. You got me worried so I rang my brother-in-law. Thankfully he said I could still be using car as it hasn't had a total bottom end failure but my being over cautious and not running is best as it avoids as you said (bits getting into engine). Thankfully he also assured me with my help he will be able to carry out work without removing engine. He did add " it won't be easy !" but he doesn't seem phased at all ,so thats good enough for me. (I daren't offend him he's my brother-in-law "nothing to do with the money he's saved me over the years and hope he will in the future of course:wink:" Can't tell you how much your offer of a hand means, as usual fantastic forum members. Just hope you understand I don't want to offend him being family & always helping me with spot on results. Will let you know how it all unfolds as and when I get started.Hope I don't give you reason to say "told you so". Thanks for everything mate. Located nr Whitchurch.
  11. Hi mate, Replacing crank , mains and big ends
  12. Hi mate. I've now e-mailed Mr.F cheers.Appreciate your help.Believe me I'm under no illusion it may turn out to be a bas***d of a job insitu.
  13. Hi' Hoping to leave engine in if possible. No I havn't got the crank seals yet, that was going to be my next question (where to purchase at best price ?) Do you know approx price ? Could you tell me about the "bushing" + details cost /etc, sorry I'm not a mechanic so not clued up as I'd like to be. Originally bought an engine off djpeterj off here and was just going to replace engine but got hold of a crank then decided to go that route.Think I should have stuck to original idea but just going to plod on now. What ever else you think I'll need please let me know (magic wand would be nice). Just glad the brother -in -law will be over seeing all work (just its going to slow it down due to his availability) Please keep any info coming
  14. Hi Mate, Only doing bottom end and hoping to leave engine in place.Only want to spend on gaskets neccessary for replacing crankshaft etc as after buying crank / bearings / oil pump + customs charges/ cambelt really adding up. Like I say your help is really appreciated and any info of anyone is grateful. Thanks John.
  15. Hi All, Just had my new oil pump delivered, ACL bearings due in tomorrow. So will be starting in the next few days to start the process of replacing my crank , bearings and oil pump. Any advise on carrying out this work will be much appreciated. My brother-in-law (mechanic) will assist as and when I need him but will be trying to do most of the donkey work myself as he's very busy.I will be letting him replace cambelt etc !!!!!!. Please can any one advise other stuff I may need to complete work I need to do the job gaskets/etc/etc. Generally any info/help whatsoever please. Thanks:helpsmilie:

  20. Been a long time since visiting Zedworld but nothing's changed. No matter whether its a massive job (like last time I visited ) or just some advise like this time. The service is always fantastic , 1st class and friendly. Can't thank Jamie enough for his diagnosis and setting up the motor today,it was great to chat (brilliant bloke). He's just like Jeff, always ready to help and not rip you off. "You must be proud of him Jeff ". Harry (Little REDZED) come along too and loved every minute of it, I didn't think I'd get him away, think he'd live in a Z if he could. Hope we can make it to the Christmas meet as would love to meet members as you've all been so kind to Harry through what he's been through, but as explained to Jamie the Mrs is due to have our 3rd on the 15th so from now on anything can happen. SO BIG THANKYOU AND HIGH RECOMMENDATIONS TO ZEDWORLD AS USUAL. + BIG THANKYOU TO ALL MEMBERS (You couldn't imagine how happy you have made him and make him) All the best everyone.
  21. Yep,sounds like an awkward one mate, is he retired then ? Just wondering as it sounds like he's got nothing better to do than think of ways to annoy people.
  22. Feel sorry for you and your wife, must be horrible. At the end of the day your home is your own private space, where you should feel relaxed and comfortable and not invaded. It would severely annoy me having a neighbour like that and I could definately add more options to the poll ;) If your a placid person and don't like stress,I'd start by putting a taller fence at front aswell and try to avoid contact. Hope it settles down for you. By the way your neighbour sounds a right :xxx: Let us know how you get on.
  23. Hi mate ,as I'm absolutely stuffed financially,I'm going for a replacement as I can't afford labour charges for diagnosis, then find out its a severe problem which will cost me further expense I can't afford. Then when up and running again and hopefully I can get on my feet again,I'll inspect and try to source problems. When I do, I'll post and let everyone know my findings but at this time I'm skint.
  24. Thanks Smithy, really good of you to take the time to advise me on best way forward as I really don't want to be spending and dismantling again,as you say it makes sense while everything easy to access. All the best mate.
