Fuel prices Fair fuel UK
Just got this via email: Dear FairFuelUK Supporter, Oil prices have fallen, but what we pay at the pump for petrol and diesel remains far too high! FairFuelUK is pushing harder than ever to tackle this. Earlier this week, we were in Parliament forcing the petrol and diesel price issue back on the agenda. The Oil companies need to pass on reductions in the cost of Oil. If they don’t, the Government needs to take action. That said, the Government needs to do much more about fuel tax. It needs to abandon its current plan to increase fuel tax in January 2012. It needs to understand that the current high level of fuel tax is hurting motorists, businesses and the road hauliers. High fuel taxes are strangling the economic recovery. The Government needs a plan to REDUCE, not increase, fuel tax. We can't fight this campaign with just 160,000 people behind us .... We need hundreds of thousands more from every corner of Britain. We've changed the way that our web site works to make it easier for you to help us achieve this increase in support. Please go to the site at http://www.fairfueluk.com and select 'tell a friend' or click directly to this link http://bit.ly/FFUK-tell_a_friend . The "tell a friend" page will give you some options. You can type in up to 10 separate email addresses. Better still, if you are on AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Gmail etc, you can select "Load Contacts From Your Email Account" and the site will send out an invitation to all your contacts at the click of a button. With your help in the run up to this years Budget we forced the Government to abandon its planned massive hike in fuel taxes planned for April of 5p per litre. We couldn’t have done that without you. We now need to keep the pressure on. Please, even if you never normally foward on messages, do go to ‘tell a friend’ and help us spread the word. To keep you updated on what we are doing, please see below a personal message from Quentin Willson and some links to recent media ... Kind regards, The FairFuelUK team 'Tuesday's debate in the Commons on fuel prices had plenty of MPs attending, lots of strong cross-party support and even the Minister acknowledged that the nation was hurting. The best thing of all was watching party divisions melting away and the broad agreement that something needs to be done, urgently. Robert Halfon MP, who arranged the debate, proposed a freeze on all future duty rises, an inquiry into the transparency of pump pricing and a mechanism to control duty when oil surges in price. Nobody disagreed with his proposals and he was regularly interrupted by MPs from all over the country reporting that their constituents are suffering real hardship. FairFuelUK continues to push the fuel duty monster onto Westminster's radar. We're not going to let the issue go away, nor are we going to let the government blame everything on the oil companies either. Keep following us and get everybody you know to sign our petition. I really believe we can pull this off, but we're always going to need your help. You, your friends, family and work colleagues can really make a difference. Sign our petition now!' it would but by the time you have brought the pipe to replace, paid someone to cut and weld, brought new exhaust gaskets and bolts i dont think you would be far of the cost of a new shinny stainless steel system. just my thoughts :thumbup1:
