  1. as the good book said let he who is without sin cast the first stone...only kidding...i aint going religious but its possible a few members on here could be the offspring of teenage mums or have married/lived/had children with one are they all worthless in a society based on the consumption argument? can you only be respected if your gonna work and spend for 50 years? does a 1 day old baby deserve £1000 p/hour intensive care? do footballers on £10,000 p/week have our respect?
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4575001.stm In view of the strong comments on the teenage mum subject in another thread i thought this article might redress the balance a little...unless you have a heart of stone...anyways i'm off the soap-box now cheers

  5. :wack:  From the BBC A woman who went shopping in her swimsuit and towel sparked a full-scale air search on Wednesday evening when only her clothes were found on a beach. The 20-year-old from London had been swimming off Bexhill, East Sussex, when she decided to go to the supermarket. When she returned an hour later, yachts, lifeboats and a helicopter had been scrambled to try to find her. Coastguards said the woman, whose mother lives on the seafront, was "a typical Londoner" and "irresponsible". A man drinking at the nearby Bexhill Sailing Club saw the woman's clothes had been on the beach for some time. A massive air operation was mounted, but an hour later the woman returned in search of her clothes - still only wearing her swimsuit and towel. Police were called in after the unapologetic woman refused to give her name, indignant coastguards said. Rob Gradon said: "She was really miffed that we would make all this effort to go and look for her. Bexhill air search: One helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire Two lifeboats from Hastings, East Sussex Search teams from Bexhill Dover Coastguard Two yachts from Bexhill Sailing Club Total cost - £35,000 "She had a bit of an attitude and she wouldn't give her name. "Her attitude was 'I never called and asked for help' - although she might not have been in the position to." Mr Gradon, who operated the radar during the search, said: "Her mother has a property nearby on the beach front, so why she could not have got changed there and walked to the beach, I don't know. "Everyone has a right to go swimming, but there's a responsible way to do it and an irresponsible way. "People that don't live in a maritime environment don't think in this way. She's a typical Londoner." The coastguard watch manager added: "If you put it all together, you wouldn't get much change out of £35,000 for the search." Sussex Police said they reunited the woman with her clothes and she was not charged with any criminal offence.
