I've had two LWB TT's and one SWB NA. The shortie was the best by MILES!! And you can drift a swb, but it's harder to hold a long drift. Overall handling is way better than a 2+2 though, particularly as mine was a manual slicktop too. If and when the current owner of my old shortie decides it's time to sell up, I WILL buy it back - I miss it so much :(

I can help you out there mate. I have been detailing as a hobby for a few years now, and am just in the process of setting up a small business doing just what you're looking for. We've got one and it rocks! As close as I've ever come to free motoring. £35 a year to tax, £120 for me and the Mrs to insure, used daily but only filled up about once every 3 weeks. IF you go for a 'passion' you get all the toys too. Ideal for driving around London. I know I'll get flamed, but fook it - I like 'em :)

Dave, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now, but try to keep your chin up mate. I will be seeing my Mum on Sunday as it's her birthday, and I will give her a big hug and tell her how much she means to me, just for you. RIP Dave's Mum, God bless you.

For a SUPERB snack see if you can find Ed's Easy Diner on Great Newport Street near Leicester Square. It's 50's rock 'n' roll style american diner and they do the best burgers and shakes in the world!! I go there every time I visit 'The Smoke' and I can't recommend the place enough.

Zymol Carbon- unbeatable in my opinion, worth every penny. For the ultimate depth of shine on black I would:- 1. foam bath 2. two bucket wash 3. claybar treatment 4. foam bath and rinse 5. polish with Auto Glym 6. prep surface with Zymol HD cleanse (very important) 7. hand apply Zymol Carbon, leave to cure and buff by hand 8. hand apply a 2nd layer of Zymol Carbon 24 hrs later and buff by hand 9. buff again by hand 3 hours later. I'm a real detailing nut and I've tried so many methods, and this gives unbelievable results, if you can be arsed!!! :D

And the grunting and swearing, don't forget the grunting and swearing! :D

A friend of ours passed away last week and the funeral is on the 15th, so that kinda puts a dampener on all the romance :(

Mudflaps - tyre shine Wheels - Auto Glym engine and machine cleaner (all natural and won't 'pit' your wheels like acidic cleaners). Spray all 4 wheels thoroughly, then go round and agitate it with a brush, then go round again rinsing. Repeat if necessary. Then apply a good coat of wax to make them easier to clean in the future. Exhaust - Autosol, elbow grease and patience! NB - If you do use WW or any acid on your alloys, rinse the wheels REALLY well, then rinse them again before doing a final rinse. Do you see what I'm getting at? :D I've seen the result of WW being left on the inside of a wheel rim - not good.

I just unscrewed that one matey, but it was fecking tight!! If I remember rightly, I ended up wearing a pair of leather gardening gloves (clean, of course ;) ) to get it off.

I don't know what you mean :p Detailing has become a bit of an obsession for me now :D , here's the job I did on my current car, a black Alfa 155 - Alfa restoration . I did a similar restoration job on the last Z I owned (the 'Rat', for those that know me) but unfortunately I have lost all the pictures due to a hard drive failure just before Christmas. APC is Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner, generally not available from high street stores, but really good stuff and can be diluted 10:1 and still be very effective. I think I got mine from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk .
