Uk Clocks - HELP
Given your car would have originally had an airbag, and in light of the new airbag mot rule, if you still have an airbag it may be worth if you are changing to uk clocks to get one with an airbag light. I suspect but haven't proved it that the uk series 3 clocks might be a direct swap for the later series

Speedo signal issue I think?
the fact that it is till you get up to speed makes it more likely to be the clocks or a km/h to m/h converter or a combination of the two dodgy speed sensor tends to happen at any speed if your avcr is picking up the speed signal just before or after the ECU (or even off the clocks but after the speedo) then this doesnt disprove it the speed signal goes from the speed sensor to the clocks, stuff happens (signal changes), it then goes to the ECU and all other speed sensitive stuff. dry joints in the solder of the speedo can stop the signal getting through until you get to a certain speed and the signal is "big " enough to break through the bad joint. km to mile converters reduce this signal before it arives at the speedo making the effect worse/more common

driver footwell fuse box top row 3rd(?) fuse from left (10A?) if it blows it causes all those symptoms the main ones in the engine bay would cause both dipped and main headlights to fail

Cruise controler ??
you need..... cruise control ecu cruise control actuator (the wire under the bonnet that pulls the throttle) right hand pod with cruise on /off switch cruise cancel switches from both brake and clutch pedals (this is very important) cruise control switches from steering wheel (or control stalk if car with airbag steering wheel) if using steering wheel switches and swapping steering wheel it will need the wheel mount with the correct number of wires you can then splice into some of the existing wiring loom , but will need to run some wires your self (i think from wheel to bonnet) i've read a write up of how to do it somewhere on the web, have a good search, i dont think it was a uk zed site so probably american or australian

consult
Checked joins in the looms, from memory the ecu loom joins to the engine loom near where it goes through the bulkhead??? Also the 2 engine bay looms join somewhere near the engine bay fuse box?

consult
Doesn't this mean half the engine is fuelling correctly and half is not? Blocked fuel rail half way along? Or is it 2 separate fuel rails and you haven't connected the second one? Injectors not sat on rail properly?

Calling all Female Z Drivers ....
that model only records in its own file format, so you need the program to view it. so you cant easily share footage on the forum i think the newer version also records standard video footage i use mine to watch back tyrack days as i can see where on the track i was at what speed and what g force, and what i was saying at the time :)

Calling all Female Z Drivers ....
I've had this a number of times, in various different cars astra, zed, beeten up ford transit, and recently in my land rover defender by a 2011 range rover. in the astra it was all the way down the m23 then off at the gatwick exit where they started throwing eggs at my car. i phoned the police who eventually turned up. it had been going on for about 40 minutes. we had 4 big blokes in the car i have no idea why people would want to do it to a old transit van as i'm quite happy to shunt them off the road if they try it on too much when the guy in the range rover tried it to my landy, we stopped at lights and i wound down the window and asked if if he was shure as his was worth a lot more than mine, after that he left me alone i have a camera fitted to my zed that records constantly and keeps footage if it detects shocks or i push the panic button, its designed for accidents so is good for evidence. if anyone does it agin i will email the police the video after

TT vs. NA clutch ???? What diferences ?
if your saying you have a NA clutch pedal connected to a TT clutch, then this will be lighter than a TT clutch pedal with power assist removed. the shape of the 2 pedals mechanisms is different such that the leverage provided makes the TT pedal harder to push than the NA if thats not what your saying, sorry, i'll get my coat
-
TT vs. NA clutch ???? What diferences ?
if you take a complete TT system and remove the power assist it is heavy but not unusable, i drove mine for a year without. it was only in traffic when i was using it a lot that i found it uncumfortable and due to a previous knee injury painful
-
TT vs. NA clutch ???? What diferences ?
the TT clutch pedal is power assisted, the NA clutch is not, the pipe is the vacuum line to the clutch booster. without power asist the tt clutch is much heavier than a NA clutch i'm fairly sure the TT master cylinder is different to the NA,

Larger front discs queory
indeedy i had relocated stock calipers on skyline discs with a relocation bracket. obviously with a bigger disc the curvature of the outer edge of the disc is different so will not match the pads, however mine was bad that lots of the pad didnt touch the disc. it felt no better than my other zed with stock everything, in fact probably worse (but that could be the condition of the fluid or calipers) at a track day at silverstone , breaking at the end of teh long straight on the 5th lap was like driving over rumblestrips. about an hour to cool the discs and i was good for another 5 laps i've since replaced them with skyline calipers to match the discs and the initial bite is so much better, and track days have been ok, not been back to an open pit though so not sure how many laps it would do now. i'm a firm believer that new brake fluid and stripping and freeing up the caliper mechanism will improve most zed brakes more so than changing disc size see http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=135955&highlight=brake+upgrade

the joys of being a plumber.................
a few years ago the shit pipe from the toilets in our 1600 capacity nightclub broke where it runs through the roof of the beer cellar beer cellar have tight fitting doors to keep them cold about 5 hours into the night the bar staff heared a crash from the cellar and opened the door to investigate the crash was a stack of nearly 400 crates of bud , the cardbourd cases had disolved a 3 ft high wave of shit , beer, broken glass and many things you wouldnt expect to go down a toilet ran through the bar and the kitchen and out onto the dance floor

happy with it SO FAR
it's certainly an interesting build, i've been reading the various threads since you started, its way beyond my patience to build somnething like that, so much respect from me undecided if i like it yet , love the idea of it still being practcal, so very interested to see the finished article, will probably like it more once its the finished colour/trim and all merged in
