  1. Exhaust gas recirculation. Passes exhaust gasses back into the intake system.
  2. EGR removal can cause some detonation at light throttle / lowish revs as it's used at that point to enable the engine to run leaner and keep cyl temps down to reduce NOx emmissions. Some aftermarket maps compensate with a little more fuel in that area (I always do), most don't and very rarely cause problems. AIV removal has no downside. With the EGR you can just disconnect the solenoid first then see if it's OK. 99% it will be.
  3. The timing mark is on the crank pulley and the index plate bolted just above it.
  4. Vijay is right, you have to adjust the timing to match the datascan figure using a timing light. The loop on the PTU sometimes gives odd results if you use it for a trigger, better to use the LT leads off No 1 coil.
  5. Did feel a bit better, yes. Ran mine like that for over 4 years I think.
  6. Didn't Matt, but cheers!! Will have a look.
  7. Cheeky b******s, 30 is getting scary close now! Cheers guys.
  8. In terms of flow at equal pressure drop, about 7%. Not sure how that works out in power though.
  9. Jesus!! Always wanted to do a RWD 205 but never got round to it. That'll be a bit mad to say the least!
  10. Smithys car made more power on the dyno with it in its original position and the mixture also moved leaner and had to be corrected. I'd guess the angle on the plates directs the air into the plenum in a way that leads to more even distribution to the runners.
  11. Best - looks, interior Worst - pathetic throttle response and lag, handling
  12. Try ramsport in Ruthin for suspension set up. Only £35 per hour and they are a proper motorsport outfit who run WRC cars. Speak to James
  13. You might find that you can get a stock set reground to a profile the same as Jun / JWT / Tomei's milder types much cheaper. Try Piper or Newman, should be able to do it no problem. Idle will still be OK as 'wild' turbo cams are still pretty low duration with not much overlap. VTC reduces overlap at idle anyway if you keep it. If you get really aggressive profiles then idle can be difficult to sort on a MAF equipped car as you get reversion through the inlet and it messes up the metering. Having said that I think even the biggest duration JUN did when I was looking into it was about 270 degrees quoted face to face didn't see the timing figures for them though.
  14. Not too sure to be honest as its only running 10psi but feels pretty responsive and plenty torquey so far. Will be good to see what it does once it's all sorted.
  15. No probs mate, was good to catch up again. Car is really impressive.
  16. Did you leave any bolts out of the front of the coolers? They go into the end tanks and will cause a leak if not plugged.
  17. Hopefully just a month or two now
  18. Not to sure to be honest. If you stay wet sump / nissan ECU and intake it would be a lot cheaper but still probably £2.5k or so and you'd have a big bulge in the bonnet. You'd at least want to do the cams as they're way too soft. Also factor in manual conversion if you have a slushbox.
  19. This one's a screamer not a burbler I'm afraid. Should be good for 9k rpm.
  20. Have been waiting on parts for a while. I had bespoke pistons, rods and cams made which took ages as I had to do the specification and calcs first. Biggest hold ups have been the gearbox to engine adaptor plate which is now complete pending some bolts arriving and new crank pulley (ali with toothed dry sump pump drive) which should be done in a week or so. I'd expect it should start to some together pretty quick after that as all the other parts are waiting to go on. The exhaust manifolds will take some time but Leon is all ready to go on them and the flanges are made up. Also have to get two 1" oil lines from the engine bay to the boot which will be awkward if I still allow for removing the subframe with them in place.
  21. I've got the seats installed in the hallway at the minute - most comfortable thay are too! No interior at all in the car at the moment. Drop me a line whenever bud. Cheers
  22. No chance mate!!
  23. Let's hope this one runs for a bit longer then! If not, I know where there's some VH's.... :slap:
  24. Nice one, useful bling! Bought most of that stuff myself too. The quality of the SPL parts is just superb. Still trying to decide on shocks at the moment.
