ive got a friendly mot place round from me they did my zed when the old git at kwik fit just failed it on everything

ah right is it possible to tell by the figures which they have done?

ah so all you do is keep a stock exhaust in the garage and change it for mot time? It is a import as well i can list the figures if it helps

Hi folks just got my missus a MR2 1993 rev 3 NA Auto and mot is up at the end of the month with a few faults on the pre test if anyone knows the cars would be a great help Fail on following parking brake efficiency below front sidelight out horn not working rear tyre exhaust emission fail exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits Ok so not too bad all in but i could do with some help on the parking brake and exhaust faults. The exhaust is aftermarket and sounds like its straight through could this be causing the failure? Also where is the adjustment on the handbrake? Cheers folks Marty

yes no problem for a garage here is the stuff i use semi syn for the engine http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_MOTORSPORT.htm or you can get fully syn http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_MOTORSPORT.htm forget which one i put in now have a read of it

It is very easy for a garage to do takes me about 15 minutes to do the oil and filter. The gearbox oil is a little more tricky as you have to go from the top with a long hose and pop it in the filler then fill to spill but again all in no more than 40 minutes :) I know i use Millers competition engine oil highly recommended

ran a ECU test and no problems was getting 5,5

i use AVG, spybot and a program called clean my registry seem to work well :) I use firefox as browser but it does keep freezing on me and i see it is using a lot of memory to run it

fuel is being delivered coil pack resistance is fine the car is turning over just not firing so it is all earthing out fine just not firing this could be caused by really old contaminated fuel or low compression which is what im thinking. Just doesnt seem to want to fire however i havent had a full day at it yet so

yes ive got it hooked up to mine to keep the battery charging

had a quick crack today as i had some used good spark plugs to try and a good ptu. Still nothing though. Also had my compression tester now too but im not sure if it is going on tight enough as all i can do is tighten it with the flexi pipe by twisting it. Was getting readings of 60-80 psi on the 3 i checked and that was on both banks will have another go or may need to get a draper extension for the tester that i have seen on ebay

Ok folks this is really just to confirm im going down the right lines and am not missing anything :) The new shorty was a non runner so started on that thought she was seized but got her turning over now getting weak spark from the plugs so will be using Bartflaster`s old spark plugs when i change them on sunday to try that getting fuel up to the fuel rail and into cylinders so no fuel problem therefore PTU should be ok just no hint of her trying to fire yet. engine has been stood for a while by the looks of it. gonna do a compression test when i get the tester and see what im getting Anything else i have missed i know you guys love these threads to get your brains working :) Marty
