Sender placements
dependant on the type of gauges you have mechanical or electrical,i personally recomend braided line ran from the oil filter tree, direct to the gauge this is obviously for mechanical gauges only, not a dig at sandwich plates, but to me there a bit crude, and have seen many leak which is not good obviously,id say the greddy range is a very nice gauge, and if you really love you z go for defi,as defi are the nicest gauges money can buy IMO and work :D

O2 Sensor which one is defective and replacement
you have gone the right way about it,if you havn't already, use the 22m crows foot with a couple of feet of extensions, then use a big bar to get leverage,if this fails, then all the time taken you may aswell of removed the downpipe from the turbo 4x13mm nuts/bolts,then place downpipe in vice crack ceramic sensor then remove remainder, replace as nes greg

new wheels
id check your tension rods/bushes as its a sign the bushes are worn, you will normally see a goo residue leaking from the bushes if those tyres were on when the car was imported,id imagine the rubber to be a bit harder for japanese roads, and as you say fine in the dry, nightmare in the wet,and an upgrade maybe a worthy approach
