  2. my wee one is only 15 months, so im hoping for some peace for fathers day :D
  3. i dont liike beer, just buy me a chinese for every day im working on it ;)
  4. you want it on minimum power setting with a wire feed setting about 65 percent of maximum
  5. if you have a 360 degree thurst bearing it wont harm the turbo, if you have the standard thrust bearing it will smoke after not along.
  6. that welder was a abrgain mate, cebora are good welders. First off get rid of the disposable gas bottles, they last like 15 mins of your lucky, buy a proper regulator and get gas from BOC, not only do they last alot longer, but the gas is a lot better for welding. Dont try and butt the metal together, overlap it, butting together you tend to blow holes. Set your gasflow to about 15 litre per minute, make sure any metal is as clean as you can get it. Now when your welding rather than trying to do one continuous bead, do it in pulses to get the stack of dimes effect like when you tig weld, do a small pulse for like 1 second, if it looks good then the next one pojt your wire at the leading edge of the one you just did and do the same thing. Its tedious mate, but it ensures good welds with it being alot less likely to blow holes. Again, if you were closer i would show you how to weld and help you do it, your just a little bit too far !
  7. lol, couple weeks back i had to go to hospital to get rust out of my eye from lying under the zed welding. Im like you, hate anything to do with eyes and seeing a dirty gert needle heading for it was murder !
  8. if it smells funny, its likely to be antifreeze, which points to heater matrix.
  9. mix in some bright food colouring to water, then pour over the area, will give you a visible trace to follow where its leaking, and if its not bad. Captain Tooleys :)
  10. clean the metal up, when you see the rust ends, go another 4 inches past that for good metal. I use 0.8mm for car bodywork stuff, its a little thicker than the OEM stuff but helps add some strength. If you were closer i would ahve fixed it for you mate
  11. ive got other things i need to be doing though, ive got a saab 93 convertible to finish and a stilo jtd ( buying and selling for some extra cash) Can anyone tell me what thread the connectors are ? might aswell order the stuff off ebay just now
  12. good to hear another satisfied customer, testament to the work he does :)
  13. ive already got the tools, i just need some 3/16 pipe and the connectors, but as it explained i had kinda lost my mojo after being under the car with rust falling on my for days on end and was hoping i could get it done without getting raped ! if i had a 2 post lift i wouldnt hesitate, but im doing it with the car on axle stands. Guess il get cracking at the weekend then :(
  14. yup the diff needs droping to get access for the rear lines
  15. i cant take it to a garage just to see it, the pipes have burst so no braking, and dont want to hire a trailer for the day just to take it round garages for a quote.
  16. 200 quid ish is kinda what i was hoping for, just worried il take it somewher who will quote me that, then when they start and realise how much of a CNUT the job is decide to double it
  17. Anyone have any idea how much a garage would charge to redo the brake lines on a zed ? They all pretty much need to be done, and after spending the past couple of weeks on my back welding it, ive kinda lost my mojo :( if its not too horrendous il pay a garge to do it, if it is then i guess il be on my back for another week :( ( sound like a cheap hooker ! lol)
  18. i think those are auto turbos, i think the manual turbos are .63 a/r
  19. tighten it till it breaks, then back off quarter of a turn :D
  20. the godspeeds look like exactly the same intercooler
  21. just been looking at the design of those and tbh its terrible, its going to be better than stock for sure and for the money i dont think you could complain.
  22. they are out of stock, i emailed them a while back and they said they were expecting them in soon. You are right in your assumptions though, they are the exact same intercoolers
  23. how could anyone not notice that !
  24. to fine out where the blow is out some paper on the end or a thin rod, put it wround where the leak may be to narrow it down. wheeler dealers does have some good tips :)
  25. yep, they only work at part throttle AFAIK, when they are not working on cruise it will overfuel and your economy will drop by quite a bit.
