  2. Haven't taken one of those alternators apart, but you may be able to dismantle them both to make one good one, if you can get the voltage reg off the old and put it on the new. However, like splatt says, an auto electrician would probably be your best bet, or one of those places that specialises in alternator rebuilds.
  3. Battery "too big" theory doesn't work. It must be the altenator or a fault somewhere else - like the connection perhaps.
  4. Are you confusing the engine oil cooler and the autobox oil cooler ? The jap engine oil cooler can be directly replaced with a UK one - it's about twice the height. The auto box cooler is built into the rad and uses one side on a jap rad and both sides on a UK rad (IIRC). However, you can bypass that and install a new cooler down in front of the main rad at the bottom. Obviously for that you would need different pipes etc etc. There are some good details here http://www.mindserv.co.uk/atf_cooler.htm
  5. It'll be too large, you'll need to host it somewhere else. I've already heard it - bloody funny !

Next to the snake oil pot !
  7. Don't think it would cause any problem.
  8. Erm, yeah, I knew there was something I was supposed to be doing ....
  9. Me, but not that near really.

Nope, don't think so. Only way to detect ECU codes is through the LED or the diag port.
  11. That's true - has never failed yet. Not like those nasty (rusty) red ones !
  12. Hurrah! Car hasn't moved for about 7 weeks so I was well pleased. Not a word about the emissions but they did 'remind me' that the front pads are wearing - I know that, it's happens when you put the brakes on ! :slap: Anyway, that'll be an excuse to put my new carbon kevlar Porterfields on then.
  13. There's also Hayward and Scott in Basildon.
  14. Dunno what you mean by Maestro details ???? Are you using a Paypal account ? Do you have one ? If so could you try from another PC ? If all else fails send it electronically from your bank, or post us a cheque.
  15. Got it. Welcome !
  16. All my own teeth, but well grey (not my teeth!)
  17. Blue Monday (Blue Zedday)
  18. Think it was the ND ones (from Johnny). Was running about 12.5 psi I think.
  19. The usual problem is that most garages seem to make it some sort of personal challenge to see how long they can leave the car ticking over. Last time I had mine MOT'd they said "It smokes a bit when you leave it ticking over for 20 mins". So of course I told them not to leave it ticking over !
  20. Not massively impressed with them myself. Were fine to start with but didn't last very long before causing poor running & poor starting problems. Went back to pukka Nissan (NGK) plugs and all fine again.
  21. Must take my big suitcase in a couple of weeks ....

Mine has Redline and it did improve it marginally, but it's certainly no "fix". Going into 4th is still bad, especially at higher revs. Andy, As I have a brand new gearbox sitting around waiting to be fitted, what do you reckon would be the best oil ? A fully synth (like Redline, I think) or the standard as recommended by Nissan.
  23. IIRC you can meter it out from the ECU connector - that has to be the best end-to-end test.
  24. It's Thor in Coventry - one of the traders on here. If you need you timing checked and stuff like that then bring the car over to mine one weekend. I also have a ConZult and a Techtom etc
  25. Got it. Welcome ! Where in sunny Essex might you be ? Seems there are quite a few of us around here now.
