One of the belts will be loose, alomost certainly for the aircon pump. Could also be that the aircon pump is seizing.

It's a simple screw on, assuming you can get the old one off !

Dunno why the oil temp would drop that much unless the 10w60 was too thick to flow through the cooler ! (Obviously, thicker oil also saps a bit of power too when the crank webs go sloshing through that treacle on each revolution, so that would also contribute towards heating) Anyway, I've used Morris 10w50 fully synth for about 40,000 miles and it seems fine.
