^^^ as above have you checked the fluid etc? and you could try and drain the box and clean the strainer, may be blocked up? apart from that i'd say a new box? but im no mechanic;)

Im running 2 internal 300's and 1 external 500,- it's a wd elements and i paid 59.99 for the it new , but ive seen em for much less now so for media storage i go the external route ;) and ps: ive not noticed a diff in transfer rate that's on usb 2 though

The Auto boxes are prone to fail im afraid, if you do a search you will see a fair amount of posts on the matter!! What was the fluid like ie: colour ? and have you checked the oil for metal shavings etc:)

Sorry to hear that brian, and hope u all get better soon , i had it to a degree my self and mum is still really bad with it , hasn't eaten properly in 2 wks and can't stop coughing no rush on my end bud just keep us posted;)
