  1. Also, is there anyone near that could take my Z for a drive, it's a j spec 92 manual tt, I would just like someone else to drive it and see what they think i.e. performace and handling etc. please email to (paul@charlotte27.wanadoo.co.uk[or]paul.thompson@microlise.com), the latter being my work email thanx
  2. Hello, just a quick Q, I have an after market temp guage and oil pressure guage, do any of you know what they sould read at normal running temp ? cheers
  3. so I can check if everything is ok before doing upgrades ? please ? :duffer:
  4. take cover
  5. had a look a few mins ago, all the wires were twisted together and tapped up. Soldered all the 4 wires together and heat shrinked, took pcb out and soldered all the components, still being intermittant, coul it be another dodgy wire connection to the clock itslef ? any ideas apreciated
  6. I'm gonna have a go at fixing it (I'm an electronics engineer) it's intermittant, is it removeable or is it ward wired in ?
  7. Cheers, will have a look tonight, will I just need a pozi screw driver ?
  8. to gain access to faulty kph - mph speed convertor, what do I need to do ?
  9. yes, it's a jap spec been converted, is the converter 'fixable' ?
  10. I get a bit of a vibration from around 40 mph to around 70 mph (a bit unsure as the speedo keeps packing up (yet to fix(any ideas on the speedo intermittant problem)). Might this be a prop shaft bearing, I'm sure it's not wheel balancing, it seems to be more of a higher frequency  if you get me drift !
  11. what should be normal oil pressure at normal temp at idle (is the stock pressure guage crap 'cus i have an after market one that says around 2, a bit more than the stock one) What about normal running temp, the stock one is about 1/2 way but the after market one dosn't go much over 80 - 90 C. one more, if braking to a full stop and applying the hand brake, after releasing the foot brake, does your Z move forward/backward on the hand brake, sorry, had a few beers :duffer:
  12. cheers chaps, pete, would that be the order i woulnd need to do them or doesn't it matter ?
  13. Had my first Z for a few weeks now, it's a 92 j spec tt manual. I think it's all standard but not sure. Where shall I start for cheapish engine/power mods, a rough guide to prices would be nice too Cheers

  15. Never take ANY car let alone my Z through a car wash, they scratch the paint work
  16. What's ZX1 additive like ? I was thinking about getting some for my Z
  17. Alright chaps, right then, set the TPS to exactly .44V (with my calibrated meter from work) and checked and cleaned the yellow temp sensor connectors and adjusted the 'thing' near the battery and got the idle to around 750rpm. After a few seconds it started to creep up, kept adjusting it but couldn't get it to settle any lower than around 1000 - 1200ish. This morning the idle would hover around about 900 - 2000 rpm, any ideas guys ?
  18. Cheers for that Cos, I will get the wheel alignment checked. As for the .44V, is this on the connector on the TPS or the larger connector on the flying lead coming from it ?. I take it to adjust it you actually move the TPS unit itsellf. So what was the thing I adjusted the tickover with, its a unit at the back near the battery, was this the wrong way to do it ?
  19. 1) Yesterday on the way home from work I go through a small village, this has the speed humps that go all the way accross the road appart from the gutter. When going over these I put the near side wheels in the gutter and the off side over the hump, over one of the humps the car seemed to step out and track left, almost up the kirb. The back end also seems a bit 'wobbly' over bumps in the road. Any ideas what this could be guys ? 2) On Saturday I cleaned the throtthe boddies, reset the ECU and set the idle to 750 - 800 RPM when at correct running temp. Now when cold the idle is at over 2000 RPM and at the correct running temp idle is at around 1100, occasionally it will drop to 750 -800. It was running at around 1100 RPM before I started the work. I also cleaned the TPS connectors. Any ideas on this one, is there anything else I need to look at ? (also cleaned the connector on the thing near the battery where you adjust the idle speed but can't remember what it's called) Cheers for your help.
  20. Cheers for the advice, I can check the compression myself, if the tester is long enough, is there anyone in the Nottingham aera wtih a conZult ?
  21. how do I get more power out of my Z without having to sell any of my internal organs to fund it. As far as I am aware it's completly standard, will be looking at the chip sometime, what should I see if it has/hasn't been upgraded ?
  22. what is the conversion, is it a different clock or is it a box of electronic tricks and the kph speed ? it looks like it has a sticker stuck on it with mph on it
  23. Hi Pete, I was more than 'just' over, speedo goes to 180mph, didn't go that far but far enough I think
  24. cheers, yes it does have mph clocks, but it's intermittant, jumps around all over the shop, need to sort that too
