  3. Ok people, I've just been reading this as I am thinking of putting some in (after a chip of course) http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/boostJets/boostJets.html So I've just had a look under the bonnet, the right side looks right but the left side seems to have a small pipe coming out if the metal pipe underneath the large intake pipe but this is blocked off with a small piece of metal, any ideas is this right ?
  4. ok, to bring you all up to speed had the car just over a month, first thing i did was change oil and filter, oil was mobil 1, thats gonna get replaced with silkolene pro-s stuff, cleaned TB's, adjusted tps and idle. Thats about it.
  5. ok, came of m1 today onto a dualy, booted it in third (92 manual tt j spec)took her up to about 6250 - 6300 rpm and she seemed to loose a bit of power and splutter slightly, went on to around 6450 - 6500 and seemed to pick back up again on to 7000 odd, didn't dare go much further. Looked in rear view mirror and saw a small amout of brownish smoke, is she slightly chocked up with carbon  I know she has a kph - mph convertor and delimiter but don't know if she's been chipped any ideas guys ?
  6. clutch is hydraulic, no cable, mine also creaks a bit, me thinks a bit of lubrication is needed
  7. I think I've fianally sorted it. After focusing my attention on the convertor (resoldering the whole board, replacing the crystal and checking all conections) I thought I'll look at the speedo it's self, took it out last night and resoldered everything (couldnt test drive, pi55ed). this morning the speedo worked fine all the way to work, so fingers crossed, that's it :-)
  8. Found out why gear selection was difficult. The other day the garstick almost completely came out in my hand and I was stuck in 2nd. Limped home and took the plastic cover off. There was a nut missing of the top of the plate that holds the gear stick ball and socket assembly in (towards the front) and the rear part (think its a stud with a nut underneath) the metal had torn and the whole assembly was loose. So I've just fitted the missing nut and I'm going to get the torn part wlded back up.
  9. Hmm, how do you spell BLACK, not baLck, was it black or dark blue ? TT ? Manual ? Auto ? Tricked up ?
  10. I take it yuu anialated him, I was on the way to work, I work just down the A610, apposite the the Raleigh site near IKEA
  11. bit probably black M1 north between J25 & J26, I passed you, we both looked, the you passed me, you gave the thumbs up and I gave the nod ;)
  12. sounds like poor battery and or battery charge/alternator, have yopu tried a jump start, checked battery conections 'sheild hanging down' - probably a piece of the spash guard, it's all over the underside of these cars, I broke a piece the other day going down a dirt track at my local carp fishery !
  13. I use mine as an every day driver too, to and from work, only prob with mine (tt manual jap) is the speedo keeps going intermittant
  14. got a qoute of houghtons, A GRAND cheaper then anyone else. At the mo I'm with elephant, 3rd party, houghtons was A TON more FULLY COMP :hyper:
  15. I have the satandard Jap radio cassette fitted and a Sony CD changer in the boot. I can't get the changer to work, is the changer not compatible with the standard Jap head unit. Do you think they removed an aftermarket stereo and left or forgot the changer ?
  16. nice one, it's an import so that's sorted that, it's just that on Tinternet insureres the models are 300zx or 300zx Fairlady but if I said it's an import surely they sould already know its a Fairlady,
  17. but how do I know if my Z is a Fairlady, it has a Fairlady badge (well, sticker) on it, but I don't know, would it say Fairlady on the log book ?
  18. cats explain the heat then. it's an import and theres 77 odd k on the clock, not much history with it and no mention of clutch or gear oil change, may give redlione MT90 a try, is it expensive, readily available ?
  19. near west park swimming baths, you waved, and I flashed :)
  20. clutch seems to be fine although sometimes thats a bit stiff and i get a click/creak when i press the pedal down
  21. Do you get a lot of heat coming from the gearbox/center console/hand brake. Drove to and from Alton Towers today and it seems to get rather warm. Also, after a it is hot sometimes selecting 1st and occasionally 2nd gear is a bit stiff. Any ideas guys
