could be a PP3 (9volt rectagular) battery tester, green = good, will probably change to yellow - 1/2 charge, and red = empty, flat.
would have thought 'Battery Checker' would have given it away, lol
Thanx for all the info chaps, what are pcv's and what (if anything) would you reccommend be replaced/checked when I do finally get one as a precaution ?

ALWAYS use fully synthetic. Mineral oils carbonise on the turbo shaft due to the intense heat. Synthetic will just boil and will not leave carbon residue. It will also reduce carbon build up in the combustion chamber.
