Classic insurance
I was originally with Adrian Flux but they were nearly £100 more than Houghton. Although classic is great if you are looking to get the full value of your car back should it be smashed up, I found the cheapest by far was to put both my cars with Admiral - you normally need to have a runner on classic anyway so you will still need to insure two car. Couldn't believe how much I saved and wished I had done it many years ago. Age, convictions, location etc will always play a part so all you can do is enquire.

That's him - mickeybigzed. Luckily the doors are covering up his belly! Not sure about the moustache - may have been a bit of black lip balm!

key stuck in ignition
Cheers Jeff. I will try it out as hadn't thought of this.

key stuck in ignition
No turbo timer and no button. He has had the car for a while and never had a problem before so it has to be related to something electrical as the only way you can get the key out is to disconnect the battery. Very strange.

key stuck in ignition
My son has a Toyota Celica convertible (M Reg) and the key is stuck in the ignition. The only way you can remove the key is by disconnecting the battery. Appreciate this is not a ZX, but has anyone had this experience before? I am guessing that there must be relay or something that prevents removal at some stage. Any assistance appreciated.

caribzx project.
Yep. Same as mine. Think it is something to do with the PC Valves but I couldn't be bothered to change them.

Cornwall Christmas Meet/dinner.
This thread is so long I have lost track of the date. When is it again?

caribzx project.
Go on then, tell us how you got the emissions to drop?

caribzx project.
Used to have a similar problem with mine. I'm probably teaching you to such eggs but give her a damn good thrashing prior to the MOT and then pull that little pipe off. Mine was a 94 and it was quite amazing how much this brought the emissions down. Best of luck.

Cornwall Christmas Meet/dinner.
Yep - still £9995. If it is still for sale in April when I leave the RN I may be tempted to offer to buy it back - but not at that price! Can't believe my baby has been stuck outside in the rain for the past 5 months!

Saw Caribzx in Zed yesterday. How long has that one been back on the road? Looked pretty meacing in the mirror of my Golf GTI. I also see my UK is still for sale but hardly surprising at the price.

breakfast at hells mouth cafe.
Good call. Would have turned up but it's not exactly the best place to eat if the weather is not good.

Yeah. Why not.

Cornish Wrecker's car on Auto Trader.....?
Any of you running your Zed as a second car should try Admiral Multi Car Insurance - it normally comes up as one of the cheapest options if you do an insurance search via autotrader. If you have full no claims bonus, they will also allow you the same on a second car (well they did for me) and this works out rediculously cheap. I can insure the Merc SL and the Goldf TDI for £452 fully comp. I did a search with the Zed and it worked out even cheaper - might be worth a look.

Cornish Wrecker's car on Auto Trader.....?
I'm afraid an SL55 was just out of my league. Unless I bought a high mileage SL55 I would have been looking close to £30,000! However, I have managed to acquire an SL500 with full factory fitted SL55 AMG body kit and AMG upgrades. Like my Zed, it's ride quality that inspries me most rather than outright perfromance - although it's nice to know the power is there should you need it. If I am honest, an SL55 kicking out 500 BHP would have been a complete waste in my mits! I feel more in control driving a bike fast rather than a car.

Lisa, you have a valid point - but they were two different cars to drive. Perhaps you should have taken mine for a spin then you would know what I am talking about. As for getting £10,000, I think he will need to be very, very, very fortunate. Either way, it can only add to the value of your cars if examples like this are being put up for such sums. If I had an extra space in the garage I would loved to have kept it as I reckon these cars will soon start to appreciate. I paid £5250 for this car 3 years ago so a loss of £250 aint bad. Admittedly I had stuck at least £1500 worth of extras on but I think that is peanuts compared to most on the forum. Why did I sell? Well, I must admit I did ask myself that for the two weeks I had a Porsche Boxster S. To say I was dissappointed was an understatement and if I could have bought the Zed back for the same price I sold it, I think I would have done. It's the same old story, you fancy a change and then realise you made a bloody silly mistake. That Zed was a dream to drive and the Porsche was a real let down - although it took me a few weeks to realise it. Don't get me wrong, it was an absolute gem of a Porsche and it went like the clappers, handled like a dream and pulled your eyes out of there sockets when you pushed the brakes hard on, but I felt as if I had taken a step backwards compared to the Zed. Luckily I didn't pay top money for it and was able to sell it for exactly what I paid for it. I am now more than content with my Merc SL. That said, I had to spend a small forturne just to compete with the Zed. Hopefully Lisas car will not be faster!

Might try and join you for this one - even though I am now an imposter and Zedless. I lasted a few weeks with the Porsche Boxter S. Cracking car but I'm afraid my Zed was twice the car and to be honest I was a little bit pissed off. It's the old story, you never know what you have got until you sell it and buy something else. However, I got the Porsche for a song and was able to sell it for the same as I paid so nothing lost and nothing gained. I have now got what I wanted in the first place - a Merc SL. Well chuffed with it.

A very good day indeed. Quite nice all standing around watching Mike work on everyone's car - better than having your own cleaner. Thanks to Wes for the special car polish and also for fixing the electrics in my garage. Looking forward to the enxt one.

Thought this would be called off as weather front was inbound. However, in good cornish tradition, it looks to be breaking up and should be fine - could be bit overcast at the worst. My mobile is 07527709458 should you have any probs. Mickeybigzed inbound with his valeting mop.

cornwall meet-Aug 09
If it's raining, I would suggest we call it off. I can't see much work being done on any cars if its raining. Was going to the Moto GP at Donny today (on the bike) but bloody glad I looked at the weather forecast first. Think I would have got a bit wet!

Compressor? I have a large one in the garage if you need it.
