interesting turbo stuff
no mate thyv been manufacturing it for ages now, am doing an engineering degree and have got a job there starting on august so il be able to get alot more info then, just wanted to know if the fact that they make the turbochargers for diesel engines makes any difference. holset are the worlds leading manfacturers of turbochargers for industrial diesel engines, ther a sister company of cummins engines who are even bigger than caterpiller

interesting turbo stuff
VGT: Variable Geometry Turbocharger "A more effective, though complex, method of turbocharging uses a turbine stage where the swallowing capacity is automatically varied while the engine is running. This permits turbine power to be set to provide just sufficient energy to drive the compressor at the desired boost level wherever the engine is operating. This is achieved by varying the area of a nozzle, a set of guide vanes that control the flow through the turbine. Conventional designs pivot the vanes to achieve different nozzle areas. The Holset variable geometry system is unique in that the vanes do not pivot but slide axially. This innovative approach ensures a high level of durability and reliability, essential for commercial diesel applications. Variable Geometry Turbocharging yields several benefits in engine matching: Good transient response Good fuel economy. Increased useful engine operating speed range. Enhanced compression brake capability. Reduced engine swept volume and package size for a given rating"

interesting turbo stuff
remember that thread quite a while ago about some australian (i think) guy with a supra who was tryin to make some kind of sequential setup or something like that with a small turbo and a bigger one. well have a look at this: http://www.holset.co.uk/flash/index.html go to products & technology then product technologies then variable geometry i am starting work there in august and have seen one of these in action and th results, compared to a similar standard turbo the torque curve for this one peaks faster, peaks higher and stays at its peak longer. am not an expert but am sure that makes it alot better, only thing is, is there a differenc between a turbo for a diesel engine and one for a petrol engine? yaseen
