  1. just thought i'd post a random pic of a comp cover and wheel i have on my desk. this is for a the medium size mid-range turbo and yet its only 'average' sized. the turbine housings alone for high-horsepower turbos weigh in at a whopping 70kg! Want one Macca? Yasmin
  2. nick, wot did you do with the fibreglass one i sent you? saw your ebay ad and that cant be the fibreglass one!

  13. that would be great! this probably wont mean anything to you until uv recvd your set and seen them but i had my mate round this weekend and we had a play around with the dials. with the black wire connected to ground and the red to positive on the battery, the lights were switched on and off by shorting the two pins that connect to the switch. we measured th voltage across one of the connections to the dials and we got 2.1v, as there all connected in parrallel it must be 2.1v coming out of the box. i was gonna junk the black box and connect the two wires going to the dials (1 to ground) and the other to the light switch through a potential divider. i aint to good at electronics, wot do you think? yaseen
  14. lol nope, il get there in the end
  15. different cameras?? looks like an excuse to post lots of pics of your car dave
  16. me too paul, green please to match my illuminated rear centre panel
  17. good info dave and splashout  , didnt expect to find there was no aftercooling on the turbocharged V8. so charge cooler or intercooler or whatever, they DID upgrade. well that throws my first argument out the window
  18. thats what i thought but i have already had this conversation with my manager (40 years working for Holset Turbochargers), and the chargecooler is only more efficient at low speeds (sub 30mph). after that the intercooler is far more efficient. doh forgot to say this is assuming there isnt an independant coolant supply.
  19. PMSL that reply does NOT surprise me!
  20. so what i assumed from the pictures was correct. ok there not the same thing but they do the same thing, you know what i meant. still not as efficient as air to air and more complex than replacing stock intercooler.
  21. Did anyone watch it last night, where that bloke hit the wall in his brand new £500k maserati? Ouch! Lucky he got away with the slight damage. Anyway, the reason for this thread: did anyone watch it last week where they had an update on the modifications they've carried out on their lotus esprit? They must think all the people that watch it are stupid and don’t know anything about cars, etc. Now I’m no mechanic but Tiff Niddel (is that his name?) was talking major bullshit. Two points: 1) He said they installed a charge cooler while the pictures showed a silver can with small clear hoses flowing a blue liquid. The clip was too short to get a good look but a charge cooler and intercooler are the same thing and I doubt the turbocharged esprit is not already intercooled. The only reasonable explanation from the pictures is they installed a second air-water intercooler somewhere else in the car which is stupid because there nowhere near as efficient as air-air and would mean lots of long plumbing. It would be so much simpler to replace the stock intercooler with a bigger one. 2) When he was out driving the car he was demonstrating the sound of the turbocharger which was fine until he said that the shuddering almost rumbling sound when he let off the accelerator was the wastegate! WHAT??? Total crap, you can’t hear a wastegate and a wastegate would never, to quote him “waste” the air when you let off. The wastegate would be firmly shut! The sound was either a very fancy dump valve that made the strange sound (I doubt it) or as I suspect, the turbocharger was going into surge and coughing its tits off. Those turbos will not last very long. Just kind of pissed me off that a car programme would say these things which are clearly untrue. Yaseen
