  1. It is exactly that. The Garrett duel syclone turbos use a completely different rotor design to the standard turbos found on all but the latest exoctic cars. Not only is the design different but they are using aircraft Technology to creat crystal fordged rotas. This is a very expensive proccess but enables the turbines to withstand much greater centrafugal G's and greater PSI of thrust. Once you can produce greater PSI of thrust and greater centrafugal G's then the spindle has to be made of a much harder wearing substance instead of steel. ie some us titanium alloy's for strength and reduce centrafugal mass. Again machining costs and manufacture is more than double that of machining high tensile steel rod. Then the bearing flanges have to cope and the housings can no longer be cast iron and Alloy. etc. Then if you are making something that with opperate at such extremes the tolerences have to be minsquel in comparison to the standard T25 stage I to III hybrid which are still the traditional style turbos like those used on the Z. These are also provided buy most companies as Hybrids and up grades, yet still using drop fordged components in exactly the same way the Bentley brothers did in 1920's. Latest turbos really are miles away from traditional tubs. The thing that limits most modern turbos is nearly always the engines they are attached to. So the answer is Material cost, Capital equipment cost to produce, development and the quality of engineering. Yep there are plenty out there charging silly prices for old technology, but when you buy the Misubitchi (Greddy) or the latest Garretts (HKS) and the Borge Warner as used by Merc. you are really getting something much better than anything Turbo Technics and there like can offer.
  2. Only if your name is not Chris C. :headvswal   Hey Chris just think how much faster your car will go when the wheels are pointing in the right direction  What a fooking star. Mr wing and a prayer. I thought you had it to the MOT station last week? Didn't they spot em or were they too busy burning the rubber of the back tyres. I'd have those bazterds up mate. Defo report em to the MOT or VOSA what ever they are call these day. I still ask for a Marathon Bar.
  3. Hey mate its not a comic with pictures and writing in bubbles. It's proper sentences and things
  4. The clergy were supposed to preach the word of God. (as in what the bible says) These days they think they know better and that god never actually said soddemy was a sin. Or that you should do unto others what you would they do unto you. Most religions are pritty good principles to live and thrive by. They all warn about the abuse of power by people who are full of their own self importance. They all promote the value of the family, society, social conscience and that soddemy is wrong. Unfortunately it would appear that the 2 largest religions are run buy just the people their religions are saying beware off. Our politictians seem to all come from the group of people that aren't bright enough to know they aren't bright. They never had enough education to realise that if you change one thing this will cause the oppersit effect elsewhere. They are so thick they think us, the great unclean masses need them to tell us how to make our lives better. That if we were more open to soddemy (which is a relationship based on sadomasochism and masochism. ie giver of and the willingly abused) our lives would be richer. This is a sick affliction and it is know that nearly all pedofiles are either practicing or abuse Homo sexuals. 30 years ago being Gay was a crime and socially aborent in just the same way as kiddy fiddling. Where will we be in 20 years time. Being told it's not their fault and that so long as the child is concenting its perfectly normal. God help us
  5. 1. Describe yourself? I'm abit like the 300zx. ,because in 1989 I was that hot I had to beat the ladies off with bat and now I'm overlooked by most, but still a classic 2. What makes you Laugh? If you could change something on your body, what would it be? That I didn't have to go to the gym to get in shape. Once upon a time I just was and now its a bind. 6. How did you get into liking the 300zx/ always liked the 240z and then a neighbour of mine bought a Pearl Yellow Zed way back in 1989/90 when they first came out. He had the wings west sideskirts and F40 style rear spoiler that Nissan UK used to offer as a OEM optional extra. 7. Are you Married/Children etc? Well on paper, but thats it. 6. you bet you cheeky git   , but he also like the colour of my money.
  7. Don't even get me started. The only full servey on Homo sexualiy was done by the church of England reaserch Group for this present government, back on 2002. It abselutely shattered the nonsense that were constantly told that either 1 in 7 or 4% (depending wether you were gay or not) of the population was gay. It in actual fact turn out to be 0.04% The government spent £14,000,000 on this servey to support the measures that included the normalisation of gayness through the school system. (most politicians are guy) So having done the reserch and knowing that the vast majority of the population are against it. These condesending basterds decided they know better than us (lets face it the vast majority of the presenday politicians couldn't get a job doing anything else because no one would employ the Fecking usless barstoods) and it is in our best interest for Gayness to be normalised. Only in December this year it was reported that most local governments (other than large cities where shirt lifters and carpet lickers gather for safety) were finding it difficult to recruit the imposed 4% gay employees and 7% ethnic employees. Infact a town in south Wales and one in Yorkshire had no gay applicants so were told to carry out a postal servey of all house holds and none of the 25,000 housholds admitted to any gay people living there. 2 Weeks ago I was dealing with social services regarding my elderly mother. Her case worker was a West Indian girl. She was very a very nice person and in the right circumstances, but the fact was she wasn't the sharpest knife in the box. She never did what she as supposed to and in the end I had to speek to her supervisor who said basicly she would never have got the job other than the fact they must employ 7% of ethnic minority. What ever happen to having the right credentials to do the job. Regardless of wether you black, blue, green, gay or straight. This goverment as the biggest shower of feckless social and ecconomic despots since Mrs T and the destruction of British Industy.
  8. I would like to add to all the reply's buy saying if MPG is a factor in your performance car prerequisites then you are not really ready to be looking at a serious performance car. That is unless you have £50K to £60K to start spending on the new generation performance cars or high performance Desiels. I say everytime I get behind the wheel that I'm not going to boot it, but since I put her back on the road after its winter break I only seem to be able to manage around 220 mile's per tank. However the smile on my face has been about 450 smiles long per tank.
  9. I've spoken to Mike 3 times today. Keep trying.
  10. If you import one with a good spec your Talking £8K If the car has got full service history and all the reciepts for the right work done ie full engine rebuild with proper fordged parts, New turbos, clutch, Bush kit, suspension etc. They are still selling for £10K over here. We know a ropey 911 will sell for £15K as apossed to £2K for a silmilar condition Z, but Porsche has the heritage and peddigree that will always appeal to the elitists.
  11. Depends on what kind of science fiction. Not a fan of star wars etc and that whole SCI FI western genre. Will read anything that is a bit thought prevocking and a creadible thread.
  12. As far as I know they were never an OEM offering. I have seen retrimed cars with Alcantara covered instroment binacles. Tulaqoche did his. What ever happened to him and his beautifull Blue Stroseck Zed.
  13. Mine used to have dim dip until I put HID's in. My car was a standard when I bought it registered Nov 94
  14. Thats not far from the GoKart Curcuit. Just off the A5. I have to Disagree with my Mate Wozzer though. I think it all depends on how deep your pockets are. If your looking to spend £8000 then you can import a monster all done. The same kind of car will cost you about £20K to £30K to build over here. I know because I've eaten the pie. Anyway happy shopping and welcome to the forum. You'll get plenty of info and help from here. GoKart meet at "Llan-y-Ghoss" or how ever you spell it???
  15. Sounds more like the MAF. Usually when the PTU packs in thats it. Nothing. Any close by who can lend you both to A, get you home and B, see what it is. Or you could just sell me your now knacked motor. I'll take it away for a couple of £100. :D :D
  16. Don't touch em. Too many people have had recons from them and the seals go very quickly after install. Essex Turbo, Turbo Technics and there is another one in Lancs. About 1 in 3 turbos from above fail shortly after re install and they all insist that it is down to oil contamination durring fitting. The best of the lot in my opinion for recons and upgrades is Turbo Dynamics. They are the UK autherised Garret dealer and use new cartridges for their hybrids and remachine the seal housings on refurbs and install a Garrett aftermarket bearing seal. This way the failure rate is vastly reduced.
  17. Some good sound advice there bud. I've never met you and your lady, but it's never easy to break up but you will get over it and in time it will have made you stronger. In the mean time take marcz32's advice and get back on the saddle of lfe as fast as poss.
  18. Yep I used to be called Andyduff
  19. NOOOOOO WTF. Looks like the head of a sledge hammer with wheels on.
  20. Then you really need something that you don't mind driving for when your Zed is off the road. Personally I wouldn't touch the Alfa. They are great to drive, but unreliable and expensive to maintain. Get her a topless Z. They are NA but plenty of go and mega reliable. They are easy to tweek extra ponys out of em as well. Have to say though out of all the Roadsters My favourite is the Honda S2000. (Have even thought about getting one instead of the Z) followed by the MX5.
  21. As above. Tell them "you don't care what they want. Their client has damaged your treasured car and you want it fixing and their valuation of the car is irellevant as it is worth more to you". Then find loads of adds for 1990 cars that want 6, 7 or even 10K for and just say this is how much a good one goes for and if they wish to buy you one off the ones you've found you'll be content otherwise repare your car or mak a offer you'll accept. Don't settle for less than £4500.
  22. Trye tying your laces
  23. That offset will not fit. The minimum offset for the front on a standard Z is 25. Also the wheels being 9.5J mean you looking at 255's to 265's min which even at 35 offset might fowl the inner arches. However at 15 they would destroy the inner arches and may even fowl the actual arch.
  24. A box of fire lighters and some matches would sort that out no problem
  25. The red car in my sig pic is 4 years old (and written off at the mo) and I imported it 3.5 years ago. Back to thread. Yes you only need a SVA test if the car is less than 10 years old and you have access to a type aproval certificate. If it is less than 10 years old and there is no Type approval or the holder refuses to lease it to you you would need a SVEA and this usually costs around £2500 where a new Type approval cert would cost about £7000.
