I think its just that to most people a car is something you get in and drive. OK you have to fill it up with juice and take it for a service and that is as involved as they want to get. If you look at what the various buyers guides like Parkers, and what they say about the car then unless you knew your onions you wouldn't buy a Z on the advice they give. + Every mag/rag or artical that you find on the Z say it can be an unforgiving beast and although they can progress very quickly, you have to have your wits and a modicum of driving skill to own one and stay alive. Now every boy racer I've ever met wamts to own a skyline, Imprezia, Evo or some other four wheel drive hot hatch, impossible to loose unless you have Suicide in mind. Why because they cannot drive and want to go fast. The Z is a driver and enthusiasts car and some of us will always love it. Lets face it thats what Ferrari were like. Great enthusiasts cars when their going and costly to fix when their not. Mine is not for, nor will it be, for sale. (though I'm not spending any more on it. Well once i've finish it :confused: )

I've always appreciated that Supras are a better car than the Z having the benefit of newer Technology and cheaper to work on, but They just don't look as nice and image has a part to play. I bet that the only place he'd nail a Ferrari would be on a straight bit of road or a Dragg strip. You think about it though £25K will get you a slightly tired, but tasty 355 or 360 Mondena and £75K will get you a part used 575. Well really it is irrelevant what the top speed is, its how quickly it gets there. The fastest Ive seen on the clock was while the car was still faily standard and she got there so quickley i was amazed. It was the perfect conditions. Bright, cool day, dry roads but cold moisture in the air. She hit 165mph on the clock and was still climbing fast. My friend was in the car the roof was off and I just remember him shouting "Fooking hell" and I thought " sh1t the bed if I get flashed at this speed its strait to Jail and do not pass GO", So I backed off to 90mph and felt like I could get out and run as faster.

Yep thats a fast car, but i'm afraid I'd have to say "What a Dick", because it won't drive anywhere as well as a Ferrari or be as good an investment and maybe,( but not deffinate, because of things like weight and weight distribution + traction) be quicker on the drag strip. I know it starts out by just doing small things that get out of control. I've spent best part of £30k on mine and think "what a dick" I could have had a Noble by now and still had a reasonably quick, but near standard Z. well I started as auto, but went manual because I find that the lag/false neutral you get with all autos can lead to some none requested arse out moments i'd rather not replicate when hurtling through the twistys. I prefer to have that level of control because my driving style is ragged and arsey at times anyway. However around town, on Motorways and straight roads The auto has its merrits and as autos go the Z needs bringing up to date. Tripotronic would be the best solution giving you the best of both worlds. Instant manual shift on command or 2 different learning auto modes. Surely someone could cobble a good tripotromic from say a M5 into a Z and see how well it works.
