Firstly I'd like to point out that there is no such thing as a cheep 4x4. I've had quite a few as I used to have to use one for my job + I live in the sticks and used to have Great Dane Dogs + 3 kids. Still got the kids but the dogs have saddly past on. Fontera are total crap. Its like driving Poridge, the build quality is crap, the interiors fall apart and the engines and Electrics are a nightmare. Troopers are OK but slow, petrol thirty, Deisel really slow, ride is agricultural like a 1970's David Brown tractor and interior is rubbish. The last box shape Nissan Patrol is bullet proof, Refined interior, not bad ride, does about 20mpg Derv only unless you get an import with the fabulous 4.5 V8 petrol and have gas convertion (17p a ltr) The New shape Patrol is glorious exept for the crap UK spec engine options. Get Jap SE Touring LTD. Either the monster tree pulling 4.2 TDi or 4.5 V8 petrol Toyota Land Cruiser is on par with Nissan Patrol, but earlier models not as well kitted inside as Nissan. The Amerson is the Big Daddy. Good at everything, well built and reliable. Range Rover. The early models were sparse inside and bits of trim constantly fall off. Engine are indestructable and lots of petrol motors with Gas convertion already done at a good price. These things fly, are better of road than just about anything else, but need good anti roll system to prevent sea sickness. Later model really sound and was good at everything except passing petrol stations. Not abused the new on so carn't say. Land Rover discovery read as early Range Rover. My veiw is you can keep em. They all cost an arm and leg to maintain and repair. Almost as much as the beloved Z, but parts are How Much

I got one, being Mr gimick and gess what? Load of rubbish. It's quicker to do it by hand and you get a better result. If your paint work is faded it wouldn't have enough juice to bring it back. So you use the old 4.5 angle grinder with a polishing bonnett.

yep, but the real fun is had on the twistys and rolling acceleration from 30mph onwards and an Auto is well beat then, because you aint got the same control on the bends. So it depends what you want to do. Drive like an Hore or do the traffic light Grand Prix (Drag racing).

I've done a couple of single seater days (Brands, Donninghton and Silverston) At Brands I went out with an instructor in an Audi TT first and think that I got more out of it as a result. Infact I posted fastest Lap of the Day. P.S There's a curcit on Anglesy thats suposed to be pretty good though its well out of the way.

How much do Oulton Park want? I was going to do one last summer with some GTIR boys, a couple of Porkers and assorted so called quick cars at Oulton Park. That was £100 and you got three 20 minute sessions. I paid and then some tw@t went and parked his car across my bonnet so one of Dave at dpmotorsports customers bought it off me and had a fab day. :cry:

Funny you put this up. I was thinking of trying to organise a weekend to go do Spa and Hokenhiem. I thought we could meet up with our Dutch & Belguique counterparts on the friday. Get pissed then do Spa Saturday, then head off to Hokenhiem with Dutch and Belguique counterparts meet up with German Z club and do Hokenhiem :hyper: :hyper: . I'm going to enquire how much and see if I can sort out a deal. would anyone be interested. I'd expect it to be around £200 ish Ferry, accommadation and Track passes for say 20 laps P.S. Kirbz I'd be up for a track day amd prepared to pay £100 to £150 U.K

Leave it parked up for the winter amd enjoy in the spring.

Beleive it or not I was in a band called Sitting Pritty and when we split up our rythm guitarist and basist joined a new band called Thunder. Even more unbelievable My band got a record deal before they did apart from Tommy Vance playing us a few times and support gigs with the likes of UFO and Motorhead the band fell apart. :cry: Good times though

A friend of mine who used to work for Froggetts Range Rovers. They do full last nut and bolt Rebuilds from chasis up. They install various Derv lumps and also the Ford 5.0 ltr petrol. They say thay because the torque is so great that they have to lift the gearing. Thus it does about 24mpg which is brill for Rangy. They also say it is the smallest lightest V8 around. + There are off the shelve Super charger kits. Turbo kits and lets face it this lump has been run in the GT40 Concept car at over 1000bhp and a 900bhp vertion is offered in the new MG SVR Looks like a Dam good Idea. Why didn't I think of it before I spent all my money on a new lump and big turbos :cry:

How much you looking to pay. My mums just lost her licence (old age) She has a 2002 Skoda Fabia in mint nick about 7,000 miles on the clock. Its 1.4 petrol but does over 40 to the gallon, and is quite quick. Its a stunner and will be worth a lot more than the going price.

Best of luck Chunk I'm sure it'll all go well. I was lucky I when I got my hip and thigh smashed up I suppose (what a daft thing to say. I would have been luckier if the blind tw@t hadn't tryed to kill me and mi bike) but after my initial opp and 3 month stay I only had to go back for iron mongery removed and that was aways daunting enough. You'll get through it and you'll be OK I'm sure mate. You got plenty of people her rooting for ya. So let us know which ward you going to be in and we can ensure that your embarrassed on a regular basis ;) Good Luck I don't think you'll need it though.
