  1. lol, amazing work gone into that. 2mpg though!!! almost as bad as a zed!! :p
  2. one of my favourite films and way ahead of its time when it was released. still enjoyable today even though the effects may be a little dated (and as we all know its not necessarily the effects that make a great film - though in this case they do help!)
  3. im devastated for you mate but keep you chin up and stay strong for your family - these things can be sorted. God bless you all.
  4. http://www.no1showplates.co.uk allow you to produce a number plate of size 16" x 4.5" (whereas the standard UK size is 20.5" x 4.5") - would this still be legal?
  5. ive heard many a good thing said about the AVC-R but i wouldn't say its by far the best. i have the Profec E-01 and many people will say that's the best too! in fact as long as it says either Blitz, Greddy, Apexi or HKS on it then you cant really go wrong!
  6. Work very kindly arranged half a day driving for four of us for developing a whole new M.I. site which we attended last Wednesday over in Staffordshire. absolutely hacking down with rain, and quite a narrow track. Me and Will chose to drive the Lambo Gallardo and the Ferrari 355 Berlinetti, and the two others ended up with a V8 Vantage and a Ferrari 360 (cos someone broke the 355!) the Gallardo was my first car - interior was way too cramped and to be able to reach the pedals properly I had to have the steering wheel up to my chin, lol! the pedals are way too thin and too close to eachother, and while trying to control the car in the rain and with a cockpit the size of a fag packet the instructor was getting me to take the corners as fast as possible! great laugh, though the throttle was so responsive that one tap and she tried to step out and I ended up going wide. awesome machine though, she was kept in third all the time, and pulled like a train right from exiting a corner right up the straight and through the chicanes. 500bhp 4WD and full of computers, and apart from me over-throttling through the 180 degree corners, she remained completely stable. its a shame i only had 6 short laps as my confidence in her stability would have grown and i could have flown through the chicanes without braking. the next car was an ex-Le Mans 355! now this car i could have driven all day! cockpit was a little larger and there was room to actually move your arms around. 450bhp RWD with absolutely no computer assistance whatsoever! however she was easier to drive than the Gallardo, she seemed far less powerful, and i had to use 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears to match the same speeds as the Lambo did stuck in 3rd. throttle was smoother and i could take the corners tighter and power out of them earlier. fantastic car, and despite its 80's appearance this particular model was produced in 1999! then it was off to the off-road track to wind down, which meant driving a Discovery at 2mph around a giant heap of sh1te
  7. here's a couple to try ;) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=112165
  8. pm sent :) now im gonna need your address so i can send you the steering wheel, LOL!
  9. pour water into the rad and see if it leaks out straight away. if its dripping from just behind the rad then it could be your front water pipes/rubbers that go into the front of the engine under the plenum have perished. you'll see the water down the front of the cam end covers and behind your bottom pulley if so. hope you get it sorted mate
  10. what a tragic accident - Spain has declared 3 days of mourning. :(
  11. im not disputing that decatting doesnt help breathing at all - in fact ive had it done on my motor for that very same reason. i was challenging your claim that decatting is a boost upgrade. perhaps i misunderstand what you mean by boost upgrade as my understanding of it is 'to increase the maximum boost pressure, and/or reduce turbo lag', indeed most of the other mods you mention are horsepower upgrades, and will allow for more boost to be run, but aren't in themselves boost upgrades. perhaps we're picking over nothing, lol! boost jets are mig welding tips that restrict flow to the wastegate actuator to ultimately force them to open later and so allow boost to build up above factory settings, although this results in spikes and should be used with care. i started off with jets, then moved to an EBC. glad your smoke problems sorted themselves out, ive not heard of anyone decatting and then their smoking (should it happen) going away, but then again you did leave it for a long time whereas I went for a rebuild a couple of months later (I was having this done anyway not just because of my blue smoke)
  12. GSY300, although you show a lot of technical know-how, I have to disagree with your statement that decatting is effectively a boost upgrade - decatting as Paul says, reduces lag a little, as there's less bottleneck at the exhaust side. divorced/split downpipes off the back of the turbos also contribute to less lag. however maximum boost pressure stays the same and can only be increased by boost jets, or a manual/elecronic boost controller. there have been many debates on this forum about whether to decat or not, and there were as many people who 'got away with it' as there were showing signs of seal failure and blue smoke on overrun/idle. for a stock motor, the best and most cost-effective first mods are intake and zorst to let the car breathe better, then jets/EBC with mapped ECU.
  13. i was stuck between the WW and the GRacer one (aka scarab) for a while, but decided to go for the first one.
  14. welcome :) what youre forgetting is it might work out more economical to tow Zs instead of drive them
  15. definately  i have one waiting to be fitted although it was a byatch to get hold of :( its always been my favourite
  16. permanent holiday resort for you then Daz! look at that sky! (dribble)
  17. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22871 love this 'behind the scenes trailer'
  18. she runs well - not noticed any particular increase in performance, though she had a bit of a flat spot near the bottom of the rev range that sorted itself out after a minute or two of driving. oh, and my premium has gone up by £40 :slap: :nono:
  19. well, it's on. twas a fairly easy job in the end as i was worried that my relocated PTU (on the right) would be in the way, or my BOVs, but it's quite a snug fit under there. let her run for a minute and she sounded ok. am going to take her for a test run now, so hopefully all will be well! ps. yes i know the sleeves aren't quite a perfect match in colour with the rest of the car, but at least you can't see them!!
  20. thats not bad for an NA - was that off-NOS too?
